Here's a tip... Eddie Van Halen originally partnered with Peavy for his line of gear. While they can no longer use his name or EVH.... the 6505 Amp was Ed's. Add either the digital or analog Phasers, and you have a pretty solid VH tone.
Finally got the 30 watt version! This amp is plain awesome! I asked the guy from the guitar store about the freezing issue, he said none of the vypyr amps froze on them so far, plus if you're gonna use it just for practice it wouldn't be such a big problem, you can just reset the power. :) This is amp is very loud though, volume 1 is enough to wake up your parents. I'm playing through normal headphones and the quality of the sound is as good as playing it without the headphones, in my opinion.
I'm so glad I stumbled across this amp here. I'm just blown away by all the effects and features. There's no need for effects pedals and the distortions are amazing! I'm trading in my Line 6 next paycheck for this badboy! I'm sold!
That opening note at the beginning ruined a good dream that started when I fell asleep watching the previous video... Got me again when I was switching among previously opened tabs...
Me watching this to learn it even tho i bought it 2009 😂 the usb connection was always too quiet to use? Just realised i could use rhe headphone jack as a line out! 🤘
@CrimzonAE no dude the best one is the 75 watts,30 can do with a drummer but when you get a bass player and the other guitarist itll shut you down plus maybe it can do with 30 but with 75 you can do a pretty big venue.
X Boost ist the best for Indie Rock and use the Brit Amp for That Surfing Indie Guitar. You also can switch the delay and have some Pink Floyd And Beatles. It can be very authentic but take your time finding the best sound it will take a while. I can definitely say the amp is not for beginners.
Hey I just got this amp from a friend of mine, I want to play some Nirvana stuff but I have a hard time choosing the right settings, does anybody know which I should use?
The comments are mindblowing. I have a vypyr 30. Im looking to upgrade.. to a full trimode tube amp. There isnt a modelling amp anywhere the vypyr 30's price range that remotely competes with it. And id have no problem buying any of the others. If you actually go read the owners comments on the fenders, spiders ,cubes etc.... they cant wait to get a decent amp. Nothing but "i guess it will have to do for now". I run a g2 and a tonebone in front of mine now. And the g2 has better or easier to use effects (its a pain in the ass to push all those buttons and spin those knobs when i can stomp a button on my g2). If youre spending less than 200 for a USED amp or 300+ for a new one this is as good as it gets. And hes it blows oranges out of the water. PS if youre talking shit about this amps effects after hearing the crunch in the distorted channels youre nuts. The only downside of this amp is it's loud as hell. If you dont keep post gain and volume at 1 you'll blow your windows out. Im literally afraid to max this amp out indoors
hiitsmcjosh higher wattage makes a difference in SS amps, you have more headroom that way, and can turn up louder before clipping in a bad way valve amps have a nice sag and poweramp overdrive, so it's even better in that case
Do you know if the Looper is only accesable through the Sanpera Pedal? Or can I use something like a Behringer FCB1010. I'm new to guitar playing and want to buy that amp for exercising, but the Sanpera is just too expensive :(
@jamesallan87 I'm actually going through a bit of your "crisis" right now. From my experience if you want a "practice" amp that also perfectly viable live, your only two realistic choices are the Vypyr series or the Vox VT series, but personally, I like the Vypyrs way better. It's not that the Voxs sound *bad* to me, they just sound...weird. Tough to explain.
Does anyone know if these old versions of the Vypyr 30 watts and 75 watts have the same dimensions? Considering that both have a 12 speaker (height, width, length)
@Tito13theGuitarist im not very technical and stuff but ive done it before. you need one of those cords that have 2 input jacks, plug one end to ur computer and the other end into your amp with an adapter, the adapter needs should have an input jack the size of your standard instrument cable.
I am having trouble in deciding wether I should get this amp, or the Line 6 Spider IV 30 watt amp. I tested both of them, and I like em both. Help please!
ill have to buy the sanpera II then, i want chorus and flanger for that kind of police/sting sound that they use sometimes, there's a preset for it i think
the black star id260 kills the vypyr series but I've played Peavey tube amps all my life, that until I lock onto a SOLDANO SLO 100(as soon as I hit megabucks)! (Chuck R.777RnR)
hey i have a vypyr 15w and i would really like to know how can i save a preset that i made so when i turn on the amp it opens immediatly with the preset that i choosed. i really apreciate help thanks!!!
one thing im worried about woth the tube 120 is that i wont get the punchy bassiness when palm muting. i have a jackson slxq with the stock emgs and i play a hardcore style music august burns red style mainly and now i have a shitty line 6 spider 3 150 and i like the punch i get when palm muting but it doesent sound like you get that with those
Wanna get a Vypyr 100 and a guitar between the price of the ESP LTD MH-50 and the Ibanez RG370. Which guitars do you prefer??? It should have 24 frets and a Floyd Rose bridge. Strat shape I like most. Plz help me!!!
@jamesallan87 I used it on 2 gigs for now, but the 100 Watt version. in the first one it was Mic'd up, it sounded awesome and did the job perfectly. In the second gig it sounded a bit worse, it wasn't mic'd so I couldn't hear it and the other guitarist was using an ENGL savage, so any solid state amp could sound like shit compared with that beast. Also, at bedroom volumes it rocks, you can have it at very low volumes and it will still sound great
@xrunepk3rzx Yeah I went to jam at a friends house and he let me use his Spider, I decided to just go direct with my Behringer Vintage Tube Overdrive Pedal and nothing else if that tells you anything lol.
he just meant it's not built verry well i baught one 2 days ago the built in stomp boxes suck ass but with a tube screamer, compresser, and at least 10 band eq (i use a 30) it sounds really well but you really need to set your compresser to maximum sustain for this to work. if you do that it sounds extremly fucking well but that's kinda overkill but it's a bedroom amp really...
Vypyr spanks the spider and roland cubes ass...lol.IMO anyway. Fender, Marshall, Mesa, Krank, EVH, Budda, ..on and on.....and on It will take a while to dial in your sound, but it is well worth it, once you figure out the mods.
@xrunepk3rzx I totally agree with you! I've been stuck with a sh*tty Spider 3 15W for a couple years now, I'm sick of it now. I'm upgrading to a Peavey Vypyr 30W this holiday; couldnt be happier :D
definetly....in my opinion....the Vypyr...the Vypyr has a more solid sounding distortion but the Spider's is more sloppy...but dont take my word for it....search Spider vs. Vypyr and when u find TTK click that and watch..the will compare those two amps
At 8:05 the switch bypasses the "leaper" setting as he turns the effects knob - mine does that too i thought it was a fault but must be normal - so what gives?
@khushalbhadra Peavey all the way man line 6 is way to digital i just orderd my self a Vypyr 30 I did alot a research before i bought it. I cant wait to get it!
what do you mean "the good versions"? don't the 75 and 30 have the same effects? the only difference is volume, except for the 60, which has tube tone.
Here's a tip... Eddie Van Halen originally partnered with Peavy for his line of gear. While they can no longer use his name or EVH.... the 6505 Amp was Ed's. Add either the digital or analog Phasers, and you have a pretty solid VH tone.

Thank you very much for video! I just got mine vypyr and haven't q single idea how to use effects
Mr. O'Malley, I was very impressed by your presentation ! (PEAVEY), take note; this video by this man sealed my purchase decision! Good work!
Very nice video demo,. I have the Peavey Vypyr 75 watt & it's is amazing guitar amp. Thanks for sharing!
the looper is built into the amp itself. you don't need to go out and buy a seperate looper pedal. all you need is either the sanpera 1 or 2 pedal.
Just used my 15 watt 1st gen 5 min ago. I want ALL the 1st gen amps
Have one and was SHOCKED at how well this solid state took PEDALS.
Same
oh this blows the spiders out of the water especially with its customizable effects I'm sold
@CrimzonAE no dude the best one is the 75 watts,30 can do with a drummer but when you get a bass player and the other guitarist itll shut you down plus maybe it can do with 30 but with 75 you can do a pretty big venue.

I love the 6505 with a tiny bit of rotary speaker, lowered mids, and salt and pepper to taste. I find this works for about everything.
Rectifier with maxed out mids is pretty much what nirvana used in studio.
Its a Schecter Guitar, I'm not sure on the Model but that is deffinetly a Schecter Headstock on it...
Tempest custom.
He just picked up the guitar yesterday.
No, auto wah is wah controlled automatically, the sanpera footswitches act as a rocking wah, in which you control with the expression pedal.
Nice demo. Thanks! I'm sold!! Wish I could afford more than the 15.

Great video,but...how can i use it only clean always without nothing the effects,i cant find... 😔
THAT PLEXI DIRTY TONE blew me away!!! I'm sooo getting this just cause of that plexi tone. PEAVEY WELL DONE YOU ACED THIS AMP!!!
plexi clean or tweed 4x10 with an overdrive is something else
hiitsmcjosh

Yes you need the pedal but it's worth it
can u help me out? i play mostly metal and i cant decide to get a vypyr or a vox but i heard that vox cant play metal nearly aswell as the vypyr?
@jamesallan87 I'm actually going through a bit of your "crisis" right now. From my experience if you want a "practice" amp that also perfectly viable live, your only two realistic choices are the Vypyr series or the Vox VT series, but personally, I like the Vypyrs way better. I wish I knew the chord progression from that first setting he plays.
My main problem with the Peavey is that the Blue Marvel speaker is rather lackluster. I record line in with it for this main reason.
There's an amp only version in a pawn shop by me for $229. in 4 days its going down to $185. Think I'll get it then.
This amp has same size of his brother "vypyr 75 watts" or peavey bandit?
I want one but the prices is a little too high for what I can spend
Okay thanks for comment!!! It helped alot
i have that amp its awesome i really like the distortion it really satisfy sound
thank you @8Beowulf8.i like this amp but i may get confused
I have a Vyper 15 ,,, wondering if that condenser mic was going into an interface or was it USB? Peavey has made a killer amp with line line!
Am i doing something wrong as my exact same amp 30W is so so soft even at max except for the twin amp setting which is slightly louder?? Pl help.
I am having trouble in deciding wether I should get this amp, or the Line 6 Spider IV 30 watt amp. I tested both of them, and I like em both. Help please!
ill have to buy the sanpera II then, i want chorus and flanger for that kind of police/sting sound that they use sometimes, there's a preset for it i think
i have this amp and i play my ibanez rg350dx through it and it sounds so badass best 200 buks i have ever spent
yes I do, my brother works in a music store, i've played hundreds of amps
What is a good Asking Alexandria setting or black veil brides . I can't quite find it
the black star id260 kills the vypyr series but I've played Peavey tube amps all my life, that until I lock onto a SOLDANO SLO 100(as soon as I hit megabucks)!
(Chuck R.777RnR)
What guitar cabinet microphone is that ?
hey i have a vypyr 15w and i would really like to know how can i save a preset that i made so when i turn on the amp it opens immediatly with the preset that i choosed. i really apreciate help thanks!!!
I'd recommend to buy a good Distortion Pedal if u are into Heavy Metal
don't really like the distortion on this amp
but other than that it kicks ass
one thing im worried about woth the tube 120 is that i wont get the punchy bassiness when palm muting. i have a jackson slxq with the stock emgs and i play a hardcore style music august burns red style mainly and now i have a shitty line 6 spider 3 150 and i like the punch i get when palm muting but it doesent sound like you get that with those
actually sounds good!
Are there any differences between the M-100FM and the MH-100 (except colour and headstock)???
do u need the sanpera to access the auto wah???
@reddeltasev07
What ESP do you have??? I think the LTD MH-100 or M-100FM is the best in this price class. Do you know about Dean guitars???
@zqmbfg do u think u can show me the adapter cuz i'm looking for one but i cant find one plzz help and explain to me how to do it????
nice fuzz !!!! it should sound like it or is it the amp?
is he using any pedals or excess effects in this video or just the amp?
Wanna get a Vypyr 100 and a guitar between the price of the ESP LTD MH-50 and the Ibanez RG370. Which guitars do you prefer??? It should have 24 frets and a Floyd Rose bridge. Strat shape I like most. Plz help me!!!
SMOKING HOT
Nice Schecter Tempest Custom guitar.
@ecgedsel Its right there on the tag on the amp.
forgive my noob-ness but what exactly does a pitch shifter do?
can someone tell me what amp the rec setting is modeling
Hey people I am in doubt between this amp (but 75 model) and Roland Cube 80x!What is your opinion, wich one to choose?I play rock and hard rock mostly.
how do you use the presets without the footswitch
Well at Guitar Center, the Line 6 amps are $20 more expensive than the Vypyrs.
whats better the line 6 spider 4 75 or the peavey vypyr? i really wanna know
Oh. At my local shop, the Line 6 is ~$15 cheaper (I'm in the UK :) )
is it better then fender mustang pls answer will be going tomorrow to buy 1 of them
can this work with any foot switches besides the sanpera 2 pedal
@Zorlak108 Which one did you get?
with your experience do you think you could get a real chunky metal sound?
how can u record using the vyvpyr 30 in to ur computer?
I'll buy it !!!
Cool, tell me how it works out :)
@jamesallan87 I used it on 2 gigs for now, but the 100 Watt version. in the first one it was Mic'd up, it sounded awesome and did the job perfectly. Also, at bedroom volumes it rocks, you can have it at very low volumes and it will still sound great
can you adjust the amount of each effect?
would you recommend a peavy vypr or a Line 6 modeling amp?
Is this an older model? I belive i have a newer one,
what are you talking about? Have you ever listened to Dimebag Darrell describe his guitar tone?
should I get this or the roland cube 40xl?
(I play metal)
I think its Own Em Alley, or On My Alley or Ownem Wally
that what i thought thanx man
@xrunepk3rzx Yeah I went to jam at a friends house and he let me use his Spider, I decided to just go direct with my Behringer Vintage Tube Overdrive Pedal and nothing else if that tells you anything lol.

Thats not saying a lot. No digital amps do dirt sounds right.
@xrunepk3rzx I totally agree with you! I've been stuck with a sh*tty Spider 3 15W for a couple years now, I'm sick of it now. I'm upgrading to a Peavey Vypyr 30W this holiday; couldnt be happier :D
How to save presets?
im pretty sure his name is Owen Omalley
Spider IV 75 or Peavey Vypyr 60?????
definetly....in my opinion....the Vypyr...the Vypyr has a more solid sounding distortion but the Spider's is more sloppy...but dont take my word for it....search Spider vs. Vypyr and when u find TTK click that and watch..the will compare those two amps
Well that's okay, I just ordered the Vypyr 30 today LOL. How was your 15?
Can it handle heavy tones i mean how is distortion there, for some really heavy shit, or B,A,G Standard tunings, got 7str and 6 str tuned low.
rockshow256 no
I LOVE THE REVERSE EFFECT!!!
Thanks man, yeah the Vypyr has alot more functions haha.
At 9:46 - the JSX clean is just as distorted as dirty - what gives?
(sorry for my bad english)
It doubles the thing that you play in anpther pitch!
What kind of mic is that?
At 8:05 the switch bypasses the "leaper" setting as he turns the effects knob - mine does that too i thought it was a fault but must be normal - so what gives?

I prefer the Vypyr ! ( I bought it ;) ) and
I think the Peavey is a better Amp
