I have had 3 line 6 amps and they where all great in the beginning but then the boards start shorting out at high volumes on every one of them they just eventually just die to the point I can't bring the volume past 3 with out massive sound issues. I tried telling the tech that and all he told me was well you shouldn't be maxing out the volume. I was so pissed I was like the why alow it to go that high??????? Line 6 metal pedal is my favorite though that thing is a tank
I remember when the pod came out. Fast forward a few years and they have become the " crate or gorilla amp" that is the running joke. I've noticed years ago that there sure was a grip of line 6 amps at every pawn shop or used at a music store.
Same experience. Id buy it as a 2nd hand. I was overwhelmed to used it but eventually able to manage & gradually appreciate the amp system. This video help allot
This video should come stock with the amp! Absolutely the best instructional video I have seen for this amp. Thanks a lot Jim at The Guitar World in Mississauga!!!!
Got a used one for 50 but my battery powered Blackstar fly has a better gain sound and only four knobs and on LED that stays one color. Might just run that thru the aux input. I had better results years ago with a digitech rp 50 running into a small fender amp. Rp 50 had 40 presets and another 40 you could set. Plus tuner and 21 drumbeats you could change tempo.
Thank you for making things clear and concise. I bought it so I could play acoustic guitar and bass. It does so much more than I even understood. Great job!
I recently bought this amp second hand and, it can be a little overwhelming if you are clueless like me. :D Thanks for this video. It was very helpful.
I've just seen one 2nd hand too for £150. I think it may be worth it. Great instructional vid as there probably won't be any manual. have a few pedals though, think i'll pick it up pretty quickly. Keep it Live.
Thank you. I bought this amplifier a few years back. Now I have more room in my studio and I'm getting' to know it. Thank you for this marvelous insightful video. I will watch it again and again.
Hi Jim, I remember meeting you at your store 20yrs ago when I had bought my first guitar (an Ovation semi-acoustic), it's so awesome to stumble upon your channel and seeing you again while i was researching this guitar amp lol... Happy to say I still play that guitar and have recorded over a hundred 100 songs using it! Much love and keep on rockin! 🤘🤘🤘💯💯💯
Thanks for the efficient run down on how to configure this thing..! I spent hours trying to dig that out of the manual, to no real avail..... almost ready to sell it until I saw this.. sounds great!!!
Liked the amp a lot. Just got sempora pedal. Now absolutely love recording rythem loops and then playing lead solos. So fun. Very versatile amp especially with pedal
had this amp for years and love it. The only thing it doesn't have is an effects loop because everything is built-in. I wish they would have added one anyway. All amps should have them! That said this amp kicks ass.
This helped quite a bit, I've had my amp for a few years and never really delved that much into how to store new presets but since last year when i bought the sanpera 2 I been wanting to figure out how to store, thank you so much!
I love the 6505 on red channel with the reverb and delay it nails that van halen sound from 1984 very well crank up the highs and mids and low end and alot of gain and it sounds amazing the speaker is descent i wish you could hook up external speakers. But my fav practice amp for sure. Great for if you live in an apartment the sanpera footswitch opens it up well too!
I got a Vypyr VIP 1 for practice and small gigs. I was surprised at how great it sounds. I particularly like the chorus and univibe. It started emitting a high pitched noise after a few years.. so I get a Vypyr X1 which is basically the same but looks cooler lol. At one point I ended up getting a great deal on a Vypyr VIP 3 and it sounds incredible. I really like their delay/reverb concept.. having those 2 effects more readily accessible is so nice! And THEN I ended up getting a great deal on a Vypyr PRO 100 with Sanpera PRO foot controller. The level of control and tone quality is incredible! These Vypyrs are so cheap and probably not the best built, but I LOVE the sound and features!
Super!!! Mam ten wzmacniacz, właśnie kupiony i pomocny film jak go obsługiwać. Dziękuję!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! tak się cieszę bo dla mnie to było skomplikowane, dziś pierwszy raz go włączyłam haha
good video, yes alot of peaple dismiss the series as crappy amps but I have the same amp & cant believe how good bass, acoustic & electric sound thru it !! Now if only the Vypyr Pro 100's where not so exspensive !! :/
I used to have this amp and traded it after a few months because it was so difficult to use. I'd forgotten how bad it was. It sounds great and has awesome features, but the interface is so complicated. A lot of things really needed the foot pedal to control and it costs almost as much as the amp.
Thanks Jim I’ve had this amp as my bed room player for about a year now but I never really like it because I couldn’t figure the setting out very well...the wife is in trouble now. JK she loves waking up to me working a rift out.
hello...great video, thank you. I will buy this amply for sure. Anyway, I would like to show you a problem that an amazon user has found on this Vypyr Vip2. Here is the review "My only complaint, and the reason I'm kicking off a star, is because the volume knob is useless when you are using the speaker and any of the overdrive channels. Your actual control of volume lies between 0 and about 0.2. Once you are any where near 1, then the amp is just loud. And it will get louder and louder up until 3. Then there's nothing more to be had. I'm really confused, because I was expecting volume 1 to be along the lines of capable of playing the guitar without headphones at night and not waking anybody up. Instead you have volume 1 essentially acting as volume 5-6. It's really weird, and it makes for an unpleasant time." Thanks for your comments
I don't have this amp in particular, but one of the older Peavey Transtube amps. I'm guessing that he has his Postgain knob cranked. When using overdrive, the Pregain is the amount of drive, and the Postgain works as the volume.
Hey, my vip1 only has two control buttons as yours has three, and, mine don't go green like your does, and I am trying to play my home made steel thru it, and I can not find a clean sound they all have sounds that do not go with pedal steel, can you tell me how to get a clean sound thru a viper 1 thanks TD
You really dont need to go over 3 on master volume..anything over 3 gets distorted aways and you will only blow your speaker..Plenty loud at 3.. Great Video!!!Great Amp!!! Have patience with it
4 x presets can be stored in each bank. They are color coded. So, you have A-Red, A-Orange, A-Yellow and A-Green. And then the same for banks B,C and D. So, a total of 16 presets. If you ever wanted to RESET the amp to the FACTORY SETTINGS (back to the sounds that it came with new, out of the box) you simply (while the power is OFF) push and HOLD DOWN the A and B back buttons (keep then pushed in - do not release) and then turn on the power - KEEP HOLDING A and B. Then the LEDs will go through a flickering sequence - WAIT until the LED lights finish flickering ... THEN you can release the A and B buttons. Thanks so much for your comment :)
Jim - helpful video. My question (and I’ve also contacted Peavey) pertains to the volume of the presets. My VIP 2 out of the box volume is “holycrap” loud. The MASTER volume can only be turned up a minuscule amount before my ears bleed. Doesn’t seem the MASTER is working correctly, not really much control from zero until it’s just uncomfortably loud. Now I understand I can edit all the presets to bring down the pre and post gains but doing so changes the “voicing” of the patch. Why in the world would Peavey design the presets at such high levels AND include a master volume that doesn’t have much range? Or maybe I have a turd amp and need it replaced? Just as a caution I factory reset it and, nope, still “kids in garage band trying to piss off the whole neighborhood “ volume. I liked your video and, no offense, you appear to know what you’re talking about so was hoping you had an answer. Seems to me, and it’s how my little Fender modeling amp works - turn the Master slowly and amp volume increases at controllable levels. Thanks, Dave
Hi Dave. Good question - I don't have an answer for Peavey's "out of the box" settings. BUT (as you mentioned) you can edit the POST levels - I would set them all to 50% - then adjust them from patch to patch, accordingly. Example: If Bank A-GREEN is your "rhythm crunch" tone with POST set to 50% you can set the next patch (A-ORANGE) with the same tone but bring the POST up to 70%.
YES! You can do a factory re-set by doing this ... (1) turn OFF the amp (2) push and HOLD DOWN the A and B bank buttons (3) turn ON the amp - KEEP HOLDING DOWN banks A and B (4) wait - LED lights will run through a flashing sequence - when that ends, you can LET GO of the A and B buttons (6) DONE
Thank u Jim!!! that was so much better than reading that PDF file... Lol.. i wish they did videos for all amps and pedals that i buy, because i hate reading,Lol., and pictures are actually worth 1000 words ! faster leanring!

YES! Absolutely. It has an entire acoustic amp modelling feature. And BASS too.

Absolutely

how many watts is this ?

Can anyone tell me..would this be a good system for electronic drums?
Never. Just get an ekit amp
What is that loop light next to the delay light?
This amp has a "looper" feature which can only be activated using the optional footswitch (the Sanpera I or II)
