- Hi loves! I’m doing an affordable DIY handbag closet makeover! I’m using the Ikea Milsbo to create a beautiful and secure display for my luxury handbags. I’ve used a simple DIY with self adhesive velvet sheets to line the shelves to protect my bags. I hope this video gives you some inspiration for how to store your handbags :)

I want to apologize for how my comments about having maids in my house came out as offensive. I did not give proper context. My maids are very trustworthy and I do not think they would steal. I do not think maids steal in general. That is not what I meant by the comments, but I recognize it did sound like that. It is very common to have maids in Dubai and also wardrobes/cabinets that lock. I think it is so normal here to lock your closets and have maids I didn’t realize my comments were rude when I said them. I apologize. I am very good to my maids. They have broken several items in my house and I never yell at them or make them pay for it. They are hard working people. I respect and appreciate what they do.
You never yell at them when they break something by accident wow how nice of you.
You dont need to apologize. Your being smart by putting locks on your expensive items. Your entitled to your feelings and views and people are WAY TOO SENSITIVE ! I say lock it up. I would certainly do the same thing. As a matter of fact I am so untrusting I wont even have a maid.
It didn’t come off like that at all. Most ppl in the US may not have consistent maids but will periodically have maids or someone even a family member come out & assist with cleaning
I thought that putting them in a locked cabinet was a good idea because of cleaning. All the maids that i have had will remove everything from a shelf to clean but don’t put them back the way they were. Not even close to the way they were. I have to go behind them and arrange everything. This is true even if it is just two objects on a shelf and a shelf with a lot of small pieces is just a mess. Locking up valuables is smart. I have had items stolen by people in my house and it was never a maid. I actually think that is rare for a maid to steal.

Hi Morgan! I’d like to thank you for making this video. Loved the set up and ran out to Ikea to get myself one of these cabinets immediately after watching your video. I live in India and have the same problem with my house-help mishandling my beautiful bags while dusting/cleaning and not being able to use my bags unless I can see them. I must say, you really found the perfect solution there is!! I can now look at my beautiful bags and not only appreciate them but also pick one that matches my outfit for the day. All while keeping them secure!! A win-win! 🤩

This was really helpful. I never thought about the leather potentially sticking to the glass. I’m torn between this one or the billy with glass. Awesome video!
Thank you!...Both are great choices. It just depends on what you need for your collection. I went with these mainly because they have a lock and a deeper shelf than the Billy

Thank you! Yes, it is also from Ikea. I think it is the same collection as my handbags storage, but just a different size. It also locks. I actually need to do a reorganization and declutter of my jewelry soon so maybe this should be a new video in the coming months.

I would love to know if your makeup table is the ikea malm dressing table. If so did you adjust the draw for maximum use to have easy acess to the full drawer. Can you share ideas or video of what exactly you did if so. I have the dressing table from ikea and don't like it as much because of the limited opening to acess items. Love handbags storage idea.
Yes, it is a malm dressing table. All I did to the drawer was reinforce the bottom and I use two rows of small boxes to organize my products inside. I agree the opening is annoying. I have to remove a box from the front row and pull the box from the back forward if I need something from the back. That is a great idea for a video. I will keep it in mind 💕

I did in my organising my handbag collection video. The shelves had to be custom made though. You can't buy extra from IKEA.
Do you stuff the bags? A friend of mine mentioned that she puts scarves to keep the shape...and I thought...shoot..never done that!!
Yes I do. I use spare dust bags from bags and shoes to stuff mine

Did you mount the display cabinet on your wall? I'm afraid the weight of the bags might tip over this cabinet
I did not mount it but you could see if it is possible under the instructions on the ikea website

It has nothing to do with stereotyping maids and everything to do with me taking accountability for my items. If anyone is coming to fix something, clean, cook, or do anything in my house, I would not leave precious items laying around out of respect for them. My maids are very trustworthy, and it is my responsibility to create a working environment for them where they have peace of mind by locking away my precious items so they cannot be questioned if something ever goes missing since they never had access to it. Its also a very common thing in Dubai to have built in locking cupboards. Mine were not built in, so I wanted to add locking cupboards for my bags like the last flat I stayed in. I meant no disrespect. Hope this clears up my intentions xx

It is holding up great! I did run out of space, but I just had some extra shelves made. I will be filming a reorganisation and update in the coming weeks 😊

I just got the malm vanity table today and want to set up some kind of shelf next to it for my designer bags. I looked at the same shelf you got and fell in love with it but wasn’t sure if it was too bulky or too much to display in a master bedroom. Would you prefer the one you have or an open shelf? I only need to display 6 designer bags.
Does the hand bag cabinet have adjustable shelves
Yes, the shelves come with movable brackets so you can place them as you like :)

@@annageber4954 you can decide how much space to put between. The shelves are not in a fixed position. There are holes inside the cabinet running from top to bottom where you can place the hardware for the shelves at any point you like.
@@MorganBrittButler Thank you, do you happen to know space in cm? My dolls need min 35 cm for each shelf. If it is less, the cabinets are needless for me

I don’t get why you have to say you didn’t mean that torwards the maids. Juat live in your truth you lock them up because at the end of the day those are strangers in your house. You can’t say you lock them for them incase they go missing you can’t blme them you lock them because you don’t want anyone stealing and that’s ok it’s a legit thing. Just like staying in a hotel you hide your valuables or lock them away.

First I must thank you for such an inspirational video. I have an enormous handbag collection so I found this video extremely useful. I can display a large part of the collection and protect my handbags. I too love to use dustbags to protect my bags from dust and the elements. I applaud you for being able to build the cabinets by yourself. Unfortunately, it is not one of my talents. I did not find you're referencing your maids as maids offensive nor did I think you were rude for doing so. I want locks for valuables because I like to protect my valuables. Since you shared that you don't travel with your designer bags as a precaution, I presumed that you wanted to secure designer bags for the same reason. The lock is for you, not the maids per se. I do think we could use a more progressive term for maid though. Anyway, though late to your channel, I am a new prescriber.
Thank you for your respectful feedback. I have realized since this video that the term maid is not correct in all countries. Here in Dubai it is the common term used and not considered derogatory so that is why I used the term. I have since changed this to home assistant. I googled to find the most acceptable term but there are many conflicting views on this and it varies depending on the country. I should have said in the video that with anyone coming in and out of my house to do any kind of work I want to protect my valuables and not leave them accessible and that is why I keep my bags locked. It had nothing to do with the home assistants directly but my communication did not come out right and I have made sure to correct this going forward 💗
