Thanks so much guys I have saved about R6600 for a new egr which a lot of money in S.AFRCIA.Removing egr is no child's play so I opted for cleaning it without any removal and it worked wonders.

Was getting a check injection system fault and then a check anti pollution fault on my laguna 2. Did a diagnostic and found it was a clogged egr that was restricting ait flow and smothering the engine after 2k revs. This seems to have done the trick both faults have gone and the power has returned for now. Thanks for the snappy video and for saving hours of stripping the egr and pipes !

How was the car after? Any recurring issues or it's fine since then?
@@TheFurymaker fault came back and power declined after a couple weeks although not as bad as before. Took the egr out and was worse then I thought. Cleaned it as best I could but the egr had been damaged mechanically by the massive build up so I ended up getting a new egr altogether before I sold it. The 2 litre diesel lagunas have a carbon build up issue so I reckon if I kept on top of it it wouldn't have been as severe.
@@michaelb634 eh, I bought Hyundai i30 2015 30mins after purchase the engine light turned on and diagnostics later showed this fail so now I unfortunately gotta give the seller the chance to fix the car. I don't know if it's fixable but the car only has 63000kms in 9 years which is nothing. Hopefully it can be fixed and solved

@@josephlee8318 should work on all diesels. Obviously its hit or miss weather it works as it all depends on how badly it’s blocked. Worth a go for a fiver

Isn't it great? Manufacturers put in clever gadgets to make an engine run clean to pass emissions legislation, then when it inevitably gets blocked up you have to blow all the crap and pollution out into the air anyway. Brilliant.

Tip, when doing this ideally up the revs to about 1500/2000 as you don't want the engine to stall and you wont get any spooling in the pipe 😊

I’m having EGR issues. Put the pedal to the floor & the car goes in limp mode - w211 E220d - been told it’s an EGR issue. But when I turn the car off and then on again I have my power back & more than before. Anything to recommend?
It's a year later but it's possibly still the EGR I have a 2007 dodge ram and there are times I don't have much power and times I have too much power and it lags like a boost lag when I hit the gas hard it'll take about 2 seconds for it to shoot my RPMS up and start gaining speed
That only works on slightly clogged Egr. Most of the time its the passages that flows thru before/after the Egr that is clogged or blocked. No way that would clear those passages.

I've actually just got some for my ds3. When idling I can feel a little tremor going through the car, nothing big it's only really noticeable if it's brought to your attention and there's also a kind of click and judder when accelerating up an incline from the back seat area (fuel pump maybe?) Anyway I've got two cans of Holt's egr spray and just did a little bit earlier on, couldn't do much as it's issuing with rain and took it for a 2 mile run on the motorway, perhaps it's just me but it seems to run a bit smoother and response seems better
If you clean the egr valve like how you did in this video, will it stop the car from shaking when idle?
Rough idle could be caused by numerous issues from loose hoses, poor spark plus, dirty fuel system, damaged engine mounts just to name a few
@@ThatRunningGuy Thanks for the convenient response. I got new spark plugs and coils replaced today. The guy at the shop thinks it could be that the egr valves need to be cleaned because there is 257,884 miles on it. He also mentioned that it could be the head gasket.
Did the car throw codes after that? How did you clean the codes?
After cleaning the egr, yes you will need to clear the code. Can be cleared using a £6 EBay obd II reader and a mobile with a downloadable free app. I have a video on how to do it.
I have a 2005 C55 with the same code. Would I just spray down the maf?
Follow the instructions on the product, don’t spray before the MAF. Spray down the pipe that connects to the Turbo which is after the MAF sensor. Normal set up is air box,then MAF and then the pipe which goes down to the turbo.

Engine light had come on and says its sticky egr valve, going to try this spray, but my car had only done 27k miles. Its bmw 4 series, they're known for this, would it help? The power has reduced quite a bit too.

Lucky the code stayed off. But it all depends whats causing it! Wynns selling many different types of cleaner sprays for diesel and petrol cars. After using the spray ie: turbo or egr cleaner you should see the amount of dark smoke that comes out of the exhaust.l!! A cleaner engine etc is going to be more efficient and run better.
What code he didn't show you a code he showed you an engine light and he's full of shit he could have said stayed off as long as he wanted it could take weeks before it comes back on he's full of shit it's a scam for some reason he's either advertising that product or doing something shady I can guarantee you there was no code he acted like he just woke up one day and magically fixed something with a spray but notice how he held it up to the camera for 10 seconds nice and close yeah mechanics don't do shit like that they don't care about she like that they'll tell you what it is they might show you the label but they don't sit there and advertise it and then give you a puppet show which is exactly what he gave us

Never done on a BMW. The sensor to normal avoid is the MAF sensor which is normal fitted just after the air filter box
Did you keep at a certain rev? Or just idle because the can says 1500 revs mine idles at like 600
Just follow the instructions on the can as lots of different products out there. From memory, had to let it idle for a few mins and then go for a drive keeping it under a certain amount of revs for so many miles.

Yes. Just remember to spray after the MAF sensor (normal set up: air filter box, MAF sensor and then the pipe)

Just A Car Guy: Did your car go into "limp home mode" because of the clogged EGR? I have an 05 Cdi and it intermittently goes into Limp Mode sometimes throws a CEL but not always, wondered if that was related? Thanks!
The car was constantly in limp mode. Maybe yours is possible getting clogged. No harm in buy a can, it can only help. Very easy job, just remember you must spray after the MAF Sensor (attached to the air filter box). Good luck

Just A Car Guy my engine is non turbo
Brake parts cleaner, carb cleaner, starting fluid, throttle intake cleaner... it's all the same ingredients of different levels. Acetone is the key ingredient and pure acetone works wonders as a fuel additive. Look it up for yourself
And ya you can spray the shit directly into your throttle body just dont spray into your air box and short out your sensors

Of course you can. Just need to buy EGR cleaner for diesels. Then just follow the easy instructions on the can. Must spray after the MAF sensor. Worth a go for a £5.
You may need to reset the code using an obd2 reader and your phone (£4 on eBay). I’ve got a video on it

It works with *any* diesel car. All diesel cars have an EGR valve, and this is a EGR valve cleaner. It's not specific to any car make.
VW mk6 1.6 tdi. Would this work?
I believe it works on most diesels which have an EGR valve fitted. Just follow the directions on the can. Only time that it won’t work is if the EGR valve is completely blocked
@@ThatRunningGuy thanks for the quick reply. It's just that for the VW 1.6 tdi engines the EGR is practically inaccessible. It's behind the engine block somewhere and requires a lot of labour.. My car goes into limp mode occasionally, I reckon the EGR is the fault.

I have an audi a6 c7 with exhaust recirculation valve Bank 1 reading around 76% and have check engine light on. I will give it a try with this. What do you think?

I got mine replaced with Audi last year. I know its expensive but atleast i know it fixed properly. The cheap fixes don't work as the Carbon build in the egr cooler is not that easy to burn off with spray solution
When you buy a diesel for driving in town / doing your shopping every day, it will mess up your engine. Diesels are motorway cruisers and driving long journeys will keep temperatures high enough to burn off the soot. People are buying diesels to use around town and then the DPF or the EGR fails and they wonder why.

Hi, i have a alfa romeo 147 diesel. It has a egr that i am sure is 100% blocked. So if i buy a deleteplate and put it in do i have to remap the ecu or something?
It’s not as simple as deleting it if you have a DPF filter. The DPF won’t regenerate if the EGR valve is missing, even if it’s coded out
you would not clean EGR valve like this as EGR must me taken apart as there is electronic section to clean as well and spraying chemicals wont help.
Yet it worked and cleared his engine light problem. They can work, but if the EGR is too far gone (really dirty) it would need removing and cleaning.

It will work with petrol engines too, but petrol engine EGRs don't get a fraction as dirty and clogged up as diesel EGRs. It would be quite rare to have a clogged up EGR in a petrol car, as Petrol burns so much more cleanly than diesel.
I don't see how you are cleaning the flow sensor when your actually spraying it in down stream of the MAF sensor?

@@ThatRunningGuy Really the correct instructions are 1. Spray down stream of the sensor and then 2. Spray the sensor element itself.

@DavidSmith-fn8ur - It's not cleaning (nor intended for cleaning) the MAF sensor! This spray would kills a MAF sensor in seconds. I think you're getting mixed up with removing a MAF sensor and cleaning it out of the car, with a dedicated MAF sensor cleaner.

I did try this shit and it didn’t work.
if it goes in an engine it has to come out, either in low percentages all the time or high percentages in short bursts but it will all come out one way or the other, the EGR makes it possible to pass MOT tests and nothing else, as the pollution from burned diesel 100% of it will enter the atmosphere . . . as for the greens who demand engines burn cleaner they don't know jack shit about anything, the crap used to clean engines is often worse than the emissions, do the greens know that. I doubt if they even care as they cycle to work. and get off the road and use the cycle track you bleated on about needing and never use which we motorists paid for. . .
That spray cant clean egr and intake manifold. I test this spray 2 times. To be sure in results I use special mini camera to enter in i.manifold and make a video. Dont spend your money on this shit.

Depends on car and code. Some codes reset themselves automatically. The code doesnt go away, but the engine warning light does.

You obviously didn't listen to the video, the guy says he plugged in a code reader and reset it after he used the cleaner.
Impossible to clean EGR valve properly without removing & good manual clean, these sprays are expensive & only they delay the inevitable outcome. !
