I miss all the lovely things that every woman and little girl used to have. Embroidered hankies, white gloves for church, lovely head scarves, fancy hats, vanities and vanity sets. I bought a vanity set from ebay a few years ago. It's complete and in its original box. It was a wedding gift for someone and there's a note inside the box. I display the set on my little antique vanity, but I'm for sure keeping the box and the note. I will give my sons instructions that the box, note and set will have to remain together when I pass away someday.
Scot, I most always offer (to myself) $5 to $20 more for a piece you offer for sale. I am not wealthy. I simply think of the work you put in; the fact that the item isn't available in my area; or that I would really enjoy owning it. I am not a buyer any longer at my age. However, you find such interesting items. Thanks for the shopping trip. 😊😊😊
Well your shopping trip started out with a fizzle and ended up with a BANG! Love both sets of candle holders and gold dresser set. I also DETEST those leaf blowers. grrrrr.
I had a neighbor who used a leaf blower morning and late afternoon to blow the dust around. It was so noisy! I finally figured out he was trying to look busy while his partner was leaving for work and returning from same!😂😂😂 Loved the silverplate basket, such a lovely shape!❤
I LOVE the shape of the McKee Innovation pattern piece. I prefer a tablescape with different shapes and sizes adding some interest and dimension to the table. The piece you featured is beautiful!!
Scott I have that large Heisy basket and it is lovely! But I clutched my pearls over that silver basket👀👀👀! At first I thought it was missing a glass liner until I got a closer look. Also, I'm hoping you do a video when you "get into the sink" to clean the candle holders😂
The two lamps were darling. Swoon worthy. The cut gladd was so sparkling ✨️ but the damage was a heartbreaker. I would love a video (when you're in the mood) of the old glass vs new, same pattern or similar patterned. Thank you.
I have a partial celluloid dresser set in a lighter shade of beige and butterscotch - I think it had been my great-grandmother’s. My treasure, however, is an elaborate ormolu dresser/vanity set from the 50s that I inherited from my mother in law. It’s quite complete, lacking only the hand mirror and lipstick holder- some day I’ll be in the right place at the right time and find them. The thrill of the hunt goes on! And a-HA, you just produced 2 ormolu vanity pieces. I’d be willing to bet they’re marked either Globe or Matson. I hope they end up in your eBay store!! I already have 3 perfume bottles, but there’s room for 1 more on my big mirrored tray that also has half naked putti on it!
An off white or cream colored taper. A little sprig of greenery with a dab of flocking and a wine & gold dual colored velvet ribbons in a bow would be my scene.
@@danielulz1640 I’d use bayberry-colored candles and I’d fill the bottoms with putka pods for Thanksgiving. And the same candles but tiny gold jingle bells instead of the pods for Christmas. I’d use bobeches to keep wax from dripping on that gorgeous mahogany.
Regarding the shape of the glass bowl, it lends itself perfectly to a low flower arrangement if you’re using a flower frog. The flowers can stick out at each end for a dramatic effect and not be tall enough to block your view of the other dinner, guests. Just for a bowl no I really don’t find it an attractive shape. Sorry you struck out at all those thrift stores. Having the crummy thrift stores I have in Raleigh North Carolina, I saw a lot of stuff I would love to have. Lol. ❤
The putti on the powder box took me back to when the Renaissance came to England when Henry VIII hired Pietro Torregiano to build the tomb of his father Henry the Vll and his wife's tomb. He put putti on all corners of the sarcophaguses. Torregiano busted Michelangelo's noseto the point where he was scarred for life. He had to flee Italy after scarring Mike for life.
I thought about you today; went shopping at the Community Thrift Shop i n Landisville, near Lancaster, Pa. today. Fun. That vanity set you showed is awesome. Miss the quality of what was popular back in the day. Many kids today have no clue. Thanks for all the treasures & places to buy same that you share with us. Can you believe this weather in November??!!
Score son! I think I need the lamps and lion basket!! I vote yes on the mckee innovations napoleon hat! Love the shape..wondering if that shape became popular in conjunction with Napoleon centennial?
Two things I dearly love, the "amber pyralin with 24 carat gold" clock, as a similar one is described in my 1927 Sears catalog (for $5.68) and the silver plate bread basket. The mahogany candle holders are glorious, also. I want them all! I usually can't make the live sales, so I missed tonight's, and I always hope I'll find the things I want in your eBay store. I noticed some footed dessert dishes on a shelf at one point, which few people know were sold with peanut butter in them back in the late 40s. My mother had some, and as a kid I loved to make tapioca and serve it in them. Does anyone eat tapioca anymore? Forgive my usual ramble, great fun, and thanks!
The bowl came in two pieces...the second piece was a stemmed dish...so turned upside down it formed a stand for the Napoleon. I had this beautiful set. (Sold a while ago)
Interesting to see you shopping where I go around Trenton with my cousin. We usually have better luck than you did. But still doesn’t match what you find farther south.
I would have to vote no on the shape of that bowl. It’s too spread out for me. I have a small home and struggle with storage of anything too big. Th minute anything can be described as big or heavy I have to back off. I’d always make an exception for a spectacular art deco piece. That bowl wasn’t to me worth taking up that much space in my world. If I were still in a bigger home, I wouldn’t mind the shape. But that’s the most honest answer I can give to your question about it.
Scott love your discoveries. I would love to see tapestry,Metallic candelabra ,I did ask about vintage sconces but I was not sure how to get in touch with you, Is there a text I can get ?
I would hesitate to call the perfume bottle ormolu as I feel it would be very misleading to knowledgeable buyers. Unlike standard gilding, ormolu involves the application of a gold alloy (typically a mixture of copper and zinc) onto a metal base, usually bronze. The metal work of the perfume bottle and the powder jar is neither bronze nor gilded.
The dumb crystal bowl reminds me of a Napoleon hat. I would call the “dabber” a “dauber” if you want or not or whatever. Shallackalackingandcrackalackin! Wow, bye!
I am attracted to the McKee Innovation pattern, but the shape of that piece is odd... It's as though it's having an 'identity crisis', "What am I, What am for?" I love that silver plated piece, I am eager to know what you're going to do with it! (I agree with you on the 'Madrid' pattern and color issue.)

And the hats with the netting ❤️
It all made women feel more girly.
Don't forget garter belts 😂

Hallelujah to a man willing to manually rake his leaves! That blower sound is my pet peeve noise of all time.
It runs neck and neck with jet skis in my area being obnoxious noise.
I'm right in there with you Kathy!
I ran my lawnmower with a bagger over mine. Much less work and goes a lot quicker, too.
The lemonade pitcher is perfect in clear because of pink lemonade!
I loved your little sidebar comparisons of ABC, Prescut, and Near Cut glass bowls. You explain things so clearly! Beautiful selections!
Well your shopping trip started out with a fizzle and ended up with a BANG! Love both sets of candle holders and gold dresser set. I also DETEST those leaf blowers. grrrrr.
I think the NOISE of a leaf blower is more annoying than the buzz of a gnat.
@@oldcuriosityshop265 true that but the dang gnats bite! We also have jet skis in our area. Try fishing in peace with those things circling.

It's not boring when you let us see all the things you're passing up.
Love the Heisey pitcher and silver basket. Thanks for the history lessons! See ya tonight….👍
never saw a vanity set like that ! look at all the compartments to stash your " fancy stuff " lol.. very cool ~ love it 💗
I LOVE the shape of the McKee Innovation pattern piece. I prefer a tablescape with different shapes and sizes adding some interest and dimension to the table. The piece you featured is beautiful!!
and I love your blue/yellow plaid flannel
Love those things
That tell a story 😊
Adore that little clock~great follow up picture ❣️
The daffodil shaped candleholders will be pretty on an Easter table.
Aloha 🌺 Thank you for always making me smile! Love the glass pitcher! Beautiful!!!! 🌺🥰🥰🥰
The color of that Madrid pattern bowl is really nice for the holidays. Would make a beautiful table setting with what you have.
Such a pretty vanity set. Love the shirt.
Great video Scott 🎉

That is a cute tiny clock!
Fabulous video 🎉Thank you for taking us along!😊
😊😊Yes the ticking clock came across loud and clear

Scott no it's nit boring watching you wlking through the stores.
I have my great grandma's old cookie jar in the Madrid pattern. She died in 1942 so it must be from the 1930s.
I would put green candles in the wooden candle holders, and fill the bases with peppermint and spearmint starlight mints.
An off white or cream colored taper. A little sprig of greenery with a dab of flocking and a wine & gold dual colored velvet ribbons in a bow would be my scene.

Oh, Trenton New,Jersey, that's home to me and by the way my accountant lives there.
Fun to watch even without all the spectacular finds . Nice shirt.
Napoleon hat pressed glass bowl
Yes, that's also what I have always known it as, lol.
The bowl came in two pieces...the second piece was a stemmed dish...so turned upside down it formed a stand for the Napoleon. I had this beautiful set. (Sold a while ago)
I do hope you make the video you mentioned about comparing old to new. I think that would be amazing!
I have that cream and sugar tray. Many of those can go with lots of patterns
Great video as always Scott. 👍🏻😉🕊️

The pitcher
“Trenton makes … the world takes …”

The silver piece looks better than plate
That shape does nothing to make me want to buy the piece. The Heisey basket is stunning!
Oooo, I have that Heisey basket, but no etching. I paid a LOT more than you !!
Scott love your discoveries. I would love to see tapestry,Metallic candelabra ,I did ask about vintage sconces but I was not sure how to get in touch with you, Is there a text I can get ?
Love the clock, ❤ but not a fan of the oddly shaped glass bowl. 😊
WHAT did you say ? after the cat but before you said " let's go rake leaves " ?
The perfume bottle is made from ormolu. I have several and have sold several as I skinned down my collection.

I think the bowl shape is odd. It reminds me of those crab shaped dishes people make crab imperial in.
it does look like a crab
I saw Rae Dunn
Cmon Scott, you are not THAT scary looking! 😅
Oddly unusual shape
🥦🟦 NO, if I kept bananas and quantities of fruit with a fast turnover, yes. But, I don’t love the shape.
I so agree about those obnoxious leaf blowers! Thank you for saying it! It had to be said.
The dumb crystal bowl reminds me of a Napoleon hat. I would call the “dabber” a “dauber” if you want or not or whatever. Shallackalackingandcrackalackin! Wow, bye!
Neewwwwwweeerrrrrkk
I'd buy it for. Up to 80 for me. Som bout it I like
Sorry.....I don't follow.....can you be more specific?
The McKee oddly shaped bowl: it reminds me of a Star Trek Klingon war bonnet. Thumbs down.
Thank you for voting! I sat on my porch a few days ago and blew my little toy leaf blower all over the place!
@@oldcuriosityshop265 It's so powerful you can blow one leaf at a time! 🍂
Don't like the shape of the cut glass dish.
Not a fan of that shape not very appealing love the design though
