These glasses work by absorbing wavelengths that fall halfway in between green and red, thereby exaggerating the differences between the two.
So to make sure I understand, when he would normally see red, his eyes basically amplified green causing it to...not be red. but with the wavelengths differing is he actually able to see red now that the other wavelengths have been absorbed or is it still 'blank' just with a distinct shading?

This is an evolutionary problem for humans, since our red opsin evolved as a duplication of our green opsin millions of years ago. They're still chemically similar & located on the same chromosome, so they're more likely to get scrambled than most genes are. Keep in mind... this is all from a class I took a few years ago. You might want to do your own reading.

about red: red is the longest wavelength color, and shows up darkest when "color" is removed from it. in black and white, true red shows up really dark, and true cyan shows up really light.
The more you wear them the better you’ll get at seeing the colors because your brain has to learn for the first time how to process the new stimuli, its pretty cool actually

@@gurvmlk Yes this if from a very famous neuroscientific phenomenon that was discovered first by a Scholar reading the Homer’s Odyssey, and then going back to many ancient text to realize that the ability to percieve the color blue arises first in humans in Egypt with the discovery of Lapis dye. From this we realized that for the brain to process stimuli, we have to engage with the stimuli. Homer described the sea and the skies as “wine-dark” because both the air and water are transparent or many different colors when you interact with them up close. Also, the color blue occurs very seldom in other parts of nature. Similar to Inuits that have so a magnitude more words for describing types of white and snow. Or African tribes that also have an expanded vocabulary for shades of green, but also when presented with A grid of 9 squares that are green, with 1 grid being slightly off shade, they differentiated the off-color with far greater accuracy than control conditions.
This was such a treat and made me appreciate colors a little more. I really hope he takes these outside someday, to watch a sunset, to reach a hiking summit, etc

He did Judo was like 6.5 feet tall, won a few silver and even gold medals. He was super popular and everyone thought he was awesome, but as soon as he came out, everyone was shocked and just stopped hanging out with him. Some people even made fun of him. I learned while growing up that you shouldn't judge or make fun of people for what they eat, what they do or what they wear. I always believed that everyone was different, because if we were all the same, we'd be robots with no personality. Some people are bullys, some people are judgemental, everyone is different. That's life.

People that are color blind often don't actually lose the ability to see all colors. It's mostly certain colors that are gone and the differences between some are less pronounced. And in general we don't actually see things. Our brains process the absence of space and use that information to put things together. Everything is understood in our minds in a relative sense.
you should look at a color sheet that explain what colors these are. since every color has multiple different shades. there are for example around hundrets of shades for red, same for green yellow orange and what color

Colorblind people seeing color for the first time: “Oh my lord... it’s so beautiful I could cry...”

This is the most ignorant, braindead comment I've ever read. The vast majority of colourblind people do not see in monochrome. That is so rare that actual cases of it are almost unheard of. Instead, colourblindness refers to a colour vision deficiency. We can see some of the colour spectrum, but certain parts of the spectrum are dulled or missing entirely. This makes it difficult to distinguish certain colours from each other. There is no cure. These glasses are a scam. It is physically impossible for glasses to introduce new colours to your vision. What these do is shift light into another portion of the colour spectrum, that hopefully you can distinguish better. At best, they are a contrast-enhancing tool. The only way one could see new colours would be to grow the missing cones and rods their eyes lack. So far, we have no way to do so.

Wait a moment, I just put something together, I think. I imagine you thought “salmon” when used as a color was in reference to the color of the scales, the outside of the fish, but it’s actually in reference to the color of the salmon’s meat.

I had a similar experience where during college my astigmatism kicked in without me noticing and then with glasses it was like...oh yeah, did y’all know grass is made of individual blades?
I had near the same experience when I put the glasses on in class and could see the individual leaves on the trees outside class.
These colorblindness glasses aren't real. They don't actually work. They're a scam used to trick gullible people out of their money, and get gullible naive people to watch TH-cam videos about them in order to generate ad revenue. There is no possible way to cure any kind of colorblindness. That just isn't a thing.
Just try not to be so gullible from now on.

about red: red is the longest wavelength color, and shows up darkest when "color" is removed from it. in black and white, true red shows up really dark, and true cyan shows up really light.

We know there are animals with more cones in their eyes than us, meaning there are colors and other such things that we can't perceive. So really, we're all being scammed by nature. Especially since, for all we know, the way we perceive certain colors could be completely wrong. We're just unable to know any better.

@@gurvmlk Yes this if from a very famous neuroscientific phenomenon that was discovered first by a Scholar reading the Homer’s Odyssey, and then going back to many ancient text to realize that the ability to percieve the color blue arises first in humans in Egypt with the discovery of Lapis dye.
From this we realized that for the brain to process stimuli, we have to engage with the stimuli. Homer described the sea and the skies as “wine-dark” because both the air and water are transparent or many different colors when you interact with them up close. Also, the color blue occurs very seldom in other parts of nature.
Similar to Inuits that have so a magnitude more words for describing types of white and snow. Or African tribes that also have an expanded vocabulary for shades of green, but also when presented with A grid of 9 squares that are green, with 1 grid being slightly off shade, they differentiated the off-color with far greater accuracy than control conditions.

That ain't gonna stop kids from making fun of someone who's different or make people not judge you on what accessories or colour clothing you wear. I knew this guy at school who got bullied over eating a pink packet of Walkers Crisps. They called him pinky for 3 years. He never came to school with a pink packet of crisps ever again and it was his favourite flavour too. This other guy I knew was the pure definition of a jock. He did Judo was like 6.5 feet tall, won a few silver and even gold medals. He was super popular and everyone thought he was awesome, but as soon as he came out, everyone was shocked and just stopped hanging out with him. Some people even made fun of him. I learned while growing up that you shouldn't judge or make fun of people for what they eat, what they do or what they wear. I always believed that everyone was different, because if we were all the same, we'd be robots with no personality. Some people are bullys, some people are judgemental, everyone is different. That's life.

This is one of the coolest things the algorithm has sent me to. I’m not even colorblind and I got choked up watching this. Awesome experience it seems. Maybe some mantis aliens can show up and give us glasses like these so all humans can experience the insane spectrum of light we’re all missing out on.

My dad's red/green colorblind and he got some similar glasses a while back. I hope you guys get to see colors exactly the way you're meant to one day, it'd be absolutely mind-blowing I'd imagine. Hopefully after that we can make glasses that show us colors we WEREN'T meant to see.

People that are color blind often don't actually lose the ability to see all colors. It's mostly certain colors that are gone and the differences between some are less pronounced.
And in general we don't actually see things. Our brains process the absence of space and use that information to put things together. Everything is understood in our minds in a relative sense.
