Vladivostok is actually much closer to San Francisco & Seattle than Moscow is. Only around 7,000 KM. There used to be a Direct Flight between Seattle & Khabarovsk (With a 15 min Stop in Anchorage). Unfortunately, they cancelled that flight ✈️ about 15 years ago. Hopefully, it comes back someday!

I love when you show us around Russia, I'm always pulling up maps trying to imagine being there.. and am so thankful that you take us along on these journeys with you. I was quite surprised at the distance between Vladivostok & Moscow.. Then I became curious to see where Sochi is, I had seen someone post a video one time & there were PALM trees!! My mind is boggled by the vastness & the diversity of your country. I hope someday I might be able to see /tour Russia with my own eyes, God willing.

Last year when I was in Russia I did the Trans Siberian Journey, landed in Moscow, boarded the Krasnaya Strela train from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
Took the Sapsan train from St.Petersburg to Moscow.
For rest of my journey I traveled in Platzkart, Moscow to Kazan, Kazan to Yekaterinburg, Yekaterinburg to Novosibirsk, Novosibirsk to Irkutsk, Irkutsk to Ulan-Ude and finally from Ulan-Ude to Vladivostok.
It was a wonderful journey, ate in Stolovayas, visited the beautiful Lake Baikal from Irkutsk. I also got chance to run 10 KM in Vladivostok International Marathon VII 2023, running over Zolotoy bridge, saw the old USSR T-34 tank at Park Pebody (Victory Park) in Vladivostok, T-34 was used against German forces.
Getting down on the stations to stretch my legs and breath some fresh air and try to buy some food on longer stops Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk, Chita and locals trying to smoke as much as they can before getting inside the train again.
Took the Aeroflot flight from Vladivostok to Sheremetyevo(Moscow) and finally back to India. I just had 16 day e-Visa and I guess, I used it well.
I had good conversation with locals and couple of Babushka I met on the trains. When I mentioned I was reading a book on Gulag, Babushkas immediately mentioned Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn.
All the trains were on time, which is very helpful.
During my entire journey the timezone changed 4 times (Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Vladivostok).
Hope Traffic situation will improve in Vladivostok. Russia Kharasho ❤

In terms of infrastructure and life, Russia 20 years ago and today are completely different countries for the better.
And yes, you are right, we have 197 major nationalities and more than 300 minor ones, they are of different religions (Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Judaism and others) and different races from Europeans to Arabs and Asians, and you know, all these nationalities are united by one people, this is the Russian people who are an older brother to the younger ones and as an older brother he must always protect them no matter what. And you also know that all these people have been living for centuries on their native land and in one country called Russia

Since childhood, I have heard that Vladivostok is the Russian San Francisco. It seems that this comparison was made in 1959 by Khrushchev. I myself live in Vladivostok. In 2006, I had a chance to visit San Francisco, and I realized that, apart from the terrain, it was not similar to Vladivostok. We don't have such a pronounced Latin American component. But the suburbs where we went on a bus tour - yes! Very similar to the south of Primorye.

Vladivostok looks really nice. It's nothing like what I was expecting. While I was watching this, I was imagining what it'd be like to have one of the flats in the hills overlooking the harbour. It must be interesting to see all the different kinds of ships coming into port there.

You know, I live in a city much further north and east than Vladivostok, and the windows of my house overlook the Beautiful Harbor, the deepest naturally enclosed harbor in the world and the second largest. Every morning I can see in front of my window a bay that is located 30 meters from my house, in that place the bay is a little over 2 miles wide, on the opposite side there are high hills 300-500 meters high, and above them you can see the peaks of volcanoes. Every day I can watch ships and you know what else, Nuclear submarines, sailing around the roadstead. Our town at one time in the 80s was the largest nuclear submarine base in the world with over 120 nuclear submarines based. Today, neither Russia nor the United States has so many nuclear submarines. Therefore, our town in the USA (Pentagon) was called the Hornet's Nest. It's a pity that you can't post photos here

Russia 1997 and Russia 2024 are completely different countries. Russia in 1997 is Russia when it was robbed by all Western and other countries, including corrupt officials. And today this is a new Russia that has been reborn and is being revived, intensive construction is underway in every region of Russia and even in Moi, which is truly at the end of the world, 3.30 hours flight from the USA and Japan. 90 percent of what they say in the West about Russia is a lie, and moreover, the West provokes its sins on Russia and this has been going on for at least 300 years. Russia is the only country in the world that has given freedom to almost half of the countries in the world from Europe to Africa and South America..
You know, let's take the history of the last 100 years and compare it with the History of the United States, this is that part of the so-called black history of Russia that the West wants to use as propaganda.
1-Holodomor The West accuses Russia (at that time the USSR) of deliberately famine the Western part of Russia, that is, Ukraine. But it was not an intentional famine, it was a real famine that occurred not only in Ukraine but also in Siberia, the Urals and in Europe itself, the cause was severe frosts and crop failure. But in the USA there was a real famine - an intentional famine, it was caused by industrialists and officials who inflated food prices and fired people from enterprises. And this was all supported by the US government. The goal was profit. you know this period as the Great Depression of the USA.
2- Russia is often accused of forcibly relocating some nationalities, for example the Crimean Tatars. But the West is silent that this was a period of war on the territory of the USSR and some people of these nationalities collaborated with Nazi Germany, which indirectly harmed the advancement of the Russian liberation army. But the Russians have never had hatred towards the nationalities of these groups themselves. and these people were simply resettled to new territories inland. This is considered an adequate measure. But the West is silent about the fact that the United States after Pearl Harbor, the US authorities forcibly resettled its citizens, the Japanese and not only the Japanese population, into concentration camps where some of them died of hunger and desentaria. At the same time, there was no war on the territory of the United States, but in American society itself there was enormous hatred towards people of Asian appearance and they were subjected to humiliation and persecution in society itself.
3-They often talk in the USA about how the Bolsheviks dispossessed wealthy peasants and nobles. The goal was to provide food for the population in those difficult times and create collective agricultural land for the entire society. At the same time, they are silent that similar things happened in the USA, but the goal there again was not great goals, but the goal of profit, that is, money. The dispossession of farmers in the USA was called Defarming in the USA, banks and officials took away wealthy farms from farmers.
4 Often in the West we hear about the terrible word GULAG. But in fact, the Gulags were labor camps; most of them contained traitors and criminals; there were no more than 20 percent of political prisoners. In the USA they often keep silent that they had their own Gulags and in the USA it was not prisoners who ended up in them, but the unemployed, homeless people and people disliked by the authorities, these people lived in more terrible conditions than what happened in Russia. Many people died in the USA in these camps, most of them hunger, these people built various US megaprojects. Here is a reverse story that the West is trying not to talk about, but turns such moments around and blames Russia for it.

Loved the video. What an interesting city seemingly on the edge of the world. It really is hard to imagine such a “European” city in the Far East. Still the remoteness and the geography remind me a little of Anchorage, Alaska. BTW, loving the slightly longer format.

    • @russiaandtheworld1597
      @russiaandtheworld1597 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

In reality this is not the case. There are many cities in the Far East and they are all European, and in Siberia there are also many cities and they are also European. For example, Irkutsk was at one time called the Siberian Paris. And Vladivostok is also a southern city and far from the easternmost (by the way, a new modern city is being built nearby, a 30-minute drive from Vladivostok). The same Khabarovsk European and other smaller cities. Further east than Vladivostok is Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, on the same line only in the north is Magadan, even further east and north is Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, and even further east and north is Anadyr. Cities such as Petropavlovsk-K, Anadyr, Yelizovo and others can be classified as cities like Anchorage (by the way, 2 years ago there were direct flights of only 3 hours and 30 minutes from Petropavlovsk, but the same as to Japan, the only difference is that there is a land connection with the rest of the country there is virtually no, while Anchorage has it, and most of the cities in the Far East were closed cities even for citizens of the USSR, only people could enter them by invitation or for work, service, and this was until 1992 for residents of Russia and until 1993-4 for foreigners

I miss the classic "..we are such a losers.." in Julia's mouth before the building closed for renovation! jaja But good that you finally reached the viewpoint. I heard many times that there wasn't much to see in that city. But there are interesting parts and at least that crab is worth the visit.
The tastes of those chocolates are very bizarre! How did the other tastes turn out? Did your family like them? I remember having eaten chocolates with anchovies in Barcelona. I liked it...anxiously waiting for the video of the train trip....bye

The tram looks like the one that takes you to Victoria Peak in Hong Kong. The views from there are far more spectacular because of the size of the city. Great job. Thank you.

Nice video, the vastness and beauty of Russia simply can't be overstated. So is North Korea closed for tourism right now? I heard that they are allowing tourist groups from Russia to go there now.

Thank you so much! Yeah, it is still completely closed to foreigners (apart from one Russian group that went in mid February) 😊
