Chongqing is our favorite city in China. We love it too. It's a city that seems like you're walking on the ground yet you're high in the sky. Chongqing has taken NYC to another level. We traveled there in March of 2005,. little cooler. Hope you guys have fully recovered from food poisiong and are doing well. NYC!? NYC should only be compared to western cities like London or Paris. Chinese cities are on whole new level altogether in terms cleanliness, affordable transportations, food galore, people, zero gun crimes, mugging, scammy stuff, accessible 24/7, trying walking alone in other cities with a vlogging camera after midnight and see what happens!
I am a local living in chongqing. chongqing has a total population of 32 million, of which the main urban area has a population of about 20 million. the area of this city is 82,400 square kilometers. not all of the 82,400 square kilometers are urban areas. It is equivalent to the area of austria (83,800 square kilometers).
Amazing how they have built this place up. When did most of these epic stages happen? Making metro trains go through buildings ten floors up is amazing.
Wisconsin, USA. If you get some fresh cloves and use stevia (definitely not sugar) to make tea, you’ll probably get some relief from the food poisoning. Can also add ginger. The cloves are anti-microbial. Ginger settles the stomach. Sugar negates the effects; hence the stevia to attenuate the bitterness of the spices.😊
What is this truth they are spreading. Walking around eating (gettting ill) looking at the buildings, riding the metro. What 'truths' in your opinion are needed to be spread?

China realized, they nor anyone will ever match western media propaganda, so they have decided to open up, visa free access, so western vloggers, travelers can travel to China easily to see and experience how "oppressed" chinese people really are, only for westerners to realized they themselves have been brainwashed, they are the ones being taxed to death, their countries now have the highest inflation, homelessness, rampant crimes, corruptions and so on. Nothing is affordable in the west, healthcare, education, transport, housing, food, fuel have all gotten worst with each decade, now it is getting worst every single year. Well at least the still believe they have "freedom and democracy".
I simply love you both. I am not jealous, just pissed that the flu of 2020 affected my nerves and I will not travel anymore. I am 60. I traveled the Mediterranean , Caribbean and others. Using Google to search and translate daily things is OK, but when it comes to topics such as politics, culture, and economy, it is always biased, especially when translating, there will be very big discrepancies, which will change the meaning of the entire sentence. After all, Google is an American company and is loyal to American interests. This is my experience of using Google for more than ten years.
Of course a translate app only goes so far, we have tried both Google and Weixin and they work fine for now, but nothing replaces knowing a language for sure ❤️

I heard you guys experienced food poisoning? Be cautious when in Chongqing. For those who aren't used to spicy food, their first day there is often spent struggling in the bathroom. It's not a hygiene issue; it's just that the chili peppers and beef tallow in Chongqing cuisine are adjusting your digestive system.

My travel days are over, so I enjoy watching young people do all this travel stuff. I'm an old Brit in my eighties and married to a an East German, who escaped in 1954 living a good life in Arizona!! Love to travel. Everyone should have the opportunity and curiosity to do it with an open mind.
hot pot is one of the things i miss the most about china. it was absolutely impossible though to go there without a person speaking chinese. there´s so much variety in the broths alone, let alone all the sides you can order to put in them. there´s also non spicy broths for example. so maybe you should see if you can find someone on your journey who takes you, or you wait until you are in bj at the language school. they surely will happily take you there. even my mom talks about hot pot 12 years after we took her ;)

Stay away from spicy dishes, you went to the 3 top rank spiciest food in China. Hunan & Sichuan. Will upset your stomach if not use to it, been there. Hope you feel much better soon.

As a northerner who enjoys the cold and look of snowy landscapes this place would not be for me. I couldn't take southern parts of the USA and they were approaching 40 C .
@@MattandJulia It is not difficult, just have to get a permit via travel agencies, Tibet is less developed due to its high altitude and associated sickness if you're not fit enough could lead to death. That's why, and not because they are afraid of visitors, but having said that, it is not unusual for U$nUK spy agencies or assets to stir up troubles filming using grey lenses like the BBC did, just to portray something sinister going on in Xizang (local name, as opposed to Tibet, a legacy of British colonialism).
Why not live in a hotel, for that price, which includes utilities. People live on cruise ships, for a lot more per night, but that does include food. What a way to live. :)

他们应该不是食物中毒,可能重庆的食物太辣太油,会导致他们的胃受到太强烈的刺激,导致消化不良产生呕吐,并且因为太油也会导致腹泻拉稀,我们中国别的城市的人也接受不了四川等一些喜辣重油的饮食习惯,也会腹泻拉肚子,甚至会引起急性肠胃炎,所以我猜他们是因为肠胃受不了过度刺激引起的“食物中毒”的假象

As a northerner who enjoys the cold and look of snowy landscapes this place would not be for me. I couldn't take southern parts of the USA and they were approaching 40 C .

@@MattandJulia It is not difficult, just have to get a permit via travel agencies, Tibet is less developed due to its high altitude and associated sickness if you're not fit enough could lead to death. That's why, and not because they are afraid of visitors, but having said that, it is not unusual for U$nUK spy agencies or assets to stir up troubles filming using grey lenses like the BBC did, just to portray something sinister going on in Xizang (local name, as opposed to Tibet, a legacy of British colonialism).

Why not live in a hotel, for that price, which includes utilities. People live on cruise ships, for a lot more per night, but that does include food. What a way to live. :)
