How to Recover From Antibiotics:
Antibiotics are a great thing and can help with treating many different illnesses and infections, but the effects of antibiotics on the body (mostly a decline in the good bacteria in your gut) can lead to issues. After antibiotic therapy, it is important to take steps toward prioritizing your gut health, which can be done with nutrition and the use of probiotic supplements. This video will give you ways to improve gut health and bring your gut flora back to normal. We will discuss the importance of fermented foods for gut health, what makes up a "gut health diet", and how probiotic supplements (and specific strains) may be helpful after antibiotic treatment.

I was on Ozempic for 9 months and stopped in January. In December I needed 3 antibiotics for various reasons. Im steadily losing weight ( 40 lbs since coming off, plus 40 on) having no appetite and energy. Depressed and Anxious 😐.
thank you. im pretty sure if i went to the person who prescribed the antibiotics to me, and asked them how to recover from this they would just look at me like im crazy. lol
@@cathyelston8135 from ozempic or antibiotics?
I just had 2 rounds of antibiotics for an assessed tooth plus a week long stomach bug 🤢 THANK YOU FOR THIS.
Don't forget to take probiotics for a long time. Antibiotics are bad
Had the flu and took antibiotics a little over a month ago. I experienced insomnia, anxiety/panic attack, depression, low mood and no appetite or desire for anything. Can you help please 🙏🏻
Recommend beginning with a probiotic that contains bifidobacterium and lactobacillus. Increasing the good flora can support neurotransmitter production and support moods/sleep!
Processed meat as other processed food aren’t good for you. Hot dog not whole food diet. Maybe watch your video for contradictions.
Also take fiber pills first. Wait 3 hours at least before probiotics and fermented foods
Hello. How are you? I feel anxious after taking antibiotics. Experiencing numbness and body aches..
I had flu also and took antibiotics. Im anxious again.....its been 2 wks.
Thanks for giving us Helpfull suggestions.

"Put sauerkraut on your hotdog". "don't eat a hotdog"
Thank you for watching! Choosing all beef hot dogs with no nitrates is an option.
@@OswaldDigestiveClinic I was more referring to the bun, which is in the category of processed carbs we want to avoid. In fact, later in the video you show a hotdog in bun in the foods to avoid section.
Very great advice. The only thing that I might add to that would probably be the walnut oil on the thyroid and the coriander seed tincture drink, but you’re really onto it with the fermented kimchi and the sauerkraut then after a while, followed up with the probiotics and maybe a couple of lemon water initiatives before the probiotics. Great video.
P.S.
fermented foods are contraindicated in cases of histamine intolerance
Yes, if you have a histamine intolerance it is not advised to consume fermented foods. Thank you for commenting and bringing that to light!
This is my problem. Histamine intolerant and trying to recover from antibiotics.
Any idea how to recover@@andreas956
I think the only way I can recover from antibiotics is through death. I been on a continual program of medicines after contracting Pseudomonas aeruginosa & Crypto coccus gattii. I've been taking a 800 mlgs of Bactrim three times a week for the last seven months plus Fluconazole 250mgs every day & at the moment I'm also on 750 mgs of Doxycycline twice a day. Every month I get IVIG which makes me sick for days after. But I'm still happy to be alive & thankful to the doctors. O by the way I''m just getting over Streptococcus pneumonia again. Am I sick or what? I do take Probiotics, been down the Kifer track & do find this product helpful as I also do with Manuka Honey. The last two years have been extremely difficult but I'm still keep hanging on, just! Never had covid! Maybe I've got too many germs in my system for it to survive or attack me.? In life there are always stories & cases too difficult to deal with.
Thank you for sharing your story. It sounds like you have been on a wild ride and doing what you can to keep yourself healthy! I wish you the best of luck in your journey ahead!!
Drink home made kefir and go on carnivore diet
Yeah and believe God to help you recover to
Use NAC of good company & feel the difference
I would tend not to trust doctor so much with a bunch of pharmaceuticals and go more natural
I had been on antibiotics for 14 days due to diagnosed with Borrelioses. Now I suffer from severe constipation. I took all the way some probiotics, but does not seem to help.
Sorry to hear you are struggling. It would be best to continue with the probiotic and help support bowel movements with magnesium citrate.
What antibiotics did you take?
I have been facing the same. Though I have recovered from Diarrhea but I'm facing severe gas and indigestion as well.
Eat bran muffins that have raisins and one apple everyday ..helped me
@@Warriror4789 the gas is the problem stopped visiting people just because of antibiotics three months in a row
Should we do double probiotics daily? And is digestive enzymes needed?
It is not always necessary to take a double dose of probiotics after an antibiotic, but this depends on the length of treatment and the amount of CFU's in each probiotic capsule you are taking. Digestive enzymes are not needed when taking probiotics.
I was poisoned by antibiotics in 2017 and nearly died. I’m so angry. They never warned me or told me there was an alternative
What a terrifying experience that must have been! Thank you for sharing.
Was it ciprofloxacin?
@@Hamed93 it was ONE Alprim, TWO cephalexin and then a ONE third one I can’t quite remember but I think it had flox somewhere in the name. In five days they almost killed me.
@@Spooky2girlthats an awful experience sorry to hear that, how long did it take for the side effects to clear out
@@Hamed93 I suffered incredibly for two years, unable to use my eyes and constant pain so that I prayed every night to die. Then I started to ignore the doctors and changed my diet to vegan and began to recover. It took another two years to start seeing real improvement and I’m still going. I’d say in pretty much better now, and some things are better than before it all happened. But I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.
How can I recover my gut health fast after taking antibiotics and I take probiotics right after I finished my antibiotic treatment?
You can increase the amount of probiotics for 14 days and then resume normal dosing. I would also encourage you to add in fermented foods; kimchi, miso, sauerkraut, kefir, yogurt.
After doing research before taking a round of antibiotics I found i needed to take the right probiotics at night while on antibiotics. I also had sauerkraut and kefir. I drunk Kefir at night.
What can parents of a baby whose mom was treated with antibiotics in labor for Group B Strep do for the baby after delivery? In addition to breast feeding? Is there anything before introducing food? And when it comes time to introduce foods, what recommendations do you have in order to better the odds of the child not developing asthma, allergies, or other undesirable problems? How soon can you give a baby sauerkraut? Thanks!!
You can support this with a very small amount of bifidobacterium powder.
I had taken Amoxicillin/clauvanic acid for 6 days and suffered severe diarrhea. Even the probiotics didn't work. My infection is gone and i had done the CRP and Blood test. Everything seems to be normal. But have been facing indigestion and Gas problem which leads to fatigue during day time.
Add in a digestive enzyme before each meal. 1-2caps.

Hi! I am currently on antibiotics. I was advised to take probiotics along with them.. I have heard that this is not good? I am on day 5 of 10 on these antibiotics. I haven’t eaten many good foods because I have no appetite. What do you recommend I eat while on them??
And do you recommend stoping the probiotics for the next 5 days?
You can take probiotics with antibiotics. The key is timing. It is recommended to take probiotics 4hrs away from your antibiotic. If you are not feeling well, you may want to try bone broth for it minerals/vitamins and healing properties for the gut, work on getting protein and healthy fats. This will stabilize blood sugar and give you energy without spiking insulin or over consuming processed foods.
Funny i found this, i was on doxycycline for 6 years... yes, years. Now I'm on 3 different antibiotics since i have a infection of some sort.... which they don't know. Now I'm on week 3 with 2 more weeks to go
Oh geez, that is tough on the microbiome. Hopefully you can use the info in the video to help restore gut flora.
Get on a probiotic asap you dont want cdiff
waw are u feeling any side effects u r using from very long I used for a week and I m afraid from side effects now
I started penicillin 2 and a half days ago and have had diarrhea since i am going to start taking probiotic capsules tomorrow 3 days into my treatment will is still be effective
Yes. Be sure to take 4 hrs away from your antibiotic.
Currently on a 14 round treatment of triple therapy for HP . Regret being on it but already started yesterday. Being i take 2 antibodics in the AM and 2 at night ehens the best time to take the probiotic. Mines is a pre/pro in 1 pill
I started the pre/pro 3 days ago. Wondering if this increases the rate for infection.
Best to take 4hrs away from your antibiotic.
This would not increase your infection.
I don't get it. I have been taking Doxycycline every day for 10 years. If I don't, my face breaks out with massive gross blisters and I am 67 years old. My doctor tried cutting me back but instant break out within 5 days. Yes my stomach is a wreck.
Best to work on the root cause and improve your gut microbiome. Acne is a sign of imbalance and/or inflammation in the body.
Eating clean keto, good quality fats like coconut oil, olive oil (NO deep fried foods / NO prepared foods with seed oils) & lots of fresh non-starchy vegetables helps with skin tremendously. *No junky snacks.* The best snacks are low in sugar and processing. Making them at home helps you ensure that they are good for you.
They have been giving me interventions antibiotics for an abscess from diverticulitis, nandrolone continuing with by mouth , what can I do limit the impact of the antibiotics.?
Begin a broad spectrum probiotic as well as increased fermented foods in a daily whole food diet.

I’ve been diagnosed with pseudomonas aeruginosa of the lungs and don’t want to take the Levofloxacin bc it has horrible side effects and many people have died or committed suicide on it. Please advise on what I should do? I already asked for a different antibiotic
Hoping the new antibiotic has helped. Continue with a probiotic 4hrs away from your antibiotic.
I took cipro for 1 week. What probiotic should i take? Thanks
Try one that has plenty of cultures. Garden of life is a good one. I get the 80 billion strains, the more strains the better for gut while on or off an antibiotic bc you DO NOT want Cdiff
I depends on what you took the cipro for. Can you give more detail?
Hi doc i am prescribed Satrogyl-O Tablet ofloxacin and satranidazole
I have been having stomach issues for a long time should i take probiotics with it or before starting the antibiotic?
You can take probiotics with an antibiotic. Best to take 4hrs before or after the dose of antibiotic.

I was on many antibiotics before. And i worry that i already develop antibiotic resistance. Will this help reduce antibiotic resistance in microbiome
Probiotics have been shown in some studies to slow down antibiotic resistance.
I was on a round of antibiotics in the beginning of August for a tooth infection (I can get the tooth extracted until the end of November) and it did a number on my digestive system causing me to lose weight I didn't need to lose. I am taking probiotics currently, but I am afraid I may have to do another round of antibiobics because the infection is not gone and I have another month before I get my tooth extracted. My tooth isn't the problem, but I have slight swelling under my jaw where the infection is. I dread having to go back on because the weight loss and digestive issues are driving me nuts, but I know an infection could be a problem. My oral surgeon and dentist told me I could hold off unless the problem gets worse.
Tough situation. If you must go on the antibiotics again, you can continue to take the probiotic. It is best to take it 4 hours from the antibiotic. Good luck with it all!!
@@OswaldDigestiveClinic Thanks for you reply. I was blessed to be able to get my tooth extracted yesterday! The oral surgeon told me that I didn't have to take antibiotics yet, but I have a hardened knot up under my jaw that's swollen from the initial tooth infection. Hoping that the extraction cause all of that to go away eventually.
You might have s fungus eating your jawbone under a few layers of biofilm
@@kaybee4933 Hi! A few weeks after my tooth was extracted, the knot and swelling is gone. It was the infected tooth that caused my lymph node to swell. Just had an appt with my dentist and she assured me that everything is healing fine and it was just a swollen lymph node. Thanks for your response, I think, lol!

Does antibiotic make you have pimples? That's what I'm experiencing right now
Indirectly...the antibiotic diminishes good flora in your gut. When this happens gut inflammation can occur as well as an over abundance of opportunistic bacteria. Recommend taking a probiotic to help support the good flora in your gut.
Any sauerkraut? Another channel was saying only the refrigerated kind labeled with probiotic.

I had acnes on my scalp and face for very longtime.. my dermatologist prescribed me to have antibiotics for 10 days.. i could see rapid changes while I was taking antibiotics! After 10 days, my acnes were fine! Couple of days after completing the 10 days.. I had severe breakdown.. now im having severe acnes all over my skin.. then I researched about Antibiotics and I found that there are some side effects..including acne breakouts!
I went again to my dermatologist, she prescribed more heavier antibiotics again.. i don’t want to take that as there are many side effects..
Please guide me on this?
What should I do.. should I continue antibiotics or should I continue probiotics or should I continue both together!
Try the natural method. Just detox and eat healthy as much as possible. Use a gentle cleanser. And avoid stress. Been there. I also had acnes all over my face. Now, just a few. But yes, been also to derma and also took antibiotics.

Now dealing with anxiety. I took antibiotics as prescribed because of flu.
Try to juice carrot with cucumber, drink it every morning..
Acne can have many causes, but is an expression of inflammation in the body. Suggest reducing/eliminating processed and packaged foods. Replace with whole real foods and increase healthy flora with a probiotic. Using a mild cleanser but not over cleansing is also going to be important of keeping the biome of your skin balanced as well.

Work on increasing the good flora in your gut. You may want to begin slowly adding in more fermented foods and a probiotic every other day.

Begin using a multi-strain probiotic 2x/day. Also, incorporate soluble fiber into your diet to support SCFA production.

Great! What about fasting 😁
Fasting is an option to help reset the gut, however to increase the diversity of flora we need fermented foods and fiber.
