I don't care what anyone says. I love these guys. They're having fun, they're accessible, real, and throw down some brutal stuff. And I, unlike some folks on here, love the way they explain what they're doing because my simple azz can actually understand it. I could give a crap what they know about theory or any other crap. Especially since I've learned over the years that there are those that talk and those that do. The ones that talk usually don't do very well.
"I'm a weird player so i pick down then up" No Chris, even on riffs that end up leaving you picking out side the string or whatever it's called, keeping each downstroke on the down beat is a sign of a good rhythm guitarist. There's actually less movement, as you don't have to quickly force yourself to pick up or down twice in a row, even despite the outside the string thing that happens.
7 strings is necessary to them. They use super low tunings like drop A. Using a 7 string in drop A only requires the low B to be dropped down to A, instead of having to drop a 6 string down that low.
GetScaredGaming get some thicker gauge strings and tune to drop A on your 6, ive been doing it for years now because I cant afford a 7. besides, you don't need a high e to play suicide songs.

It's used a lot by bands like Slipknot and Chevelle. There is a 'Drop...' everything. The term Drop tuning simply means to lower the lowest string of a 'Standard' tuning by a whole step, which puts an open 5th chord (Power Chord) on the open position of the bottom three strings so that you can just barre them and get easy power chords. Drop D, for example, is the Drop tuning that corresponds to E standard. Drop B would correspond to Db (C#) Standard. And Drop A would correspond to B standard, as you partially said correctly.
Your guitars are kinda weird, because Mark's guitar have 8 strings and Garza's have 7 strings, and some people has a guitar with 6 strings for some reason.
