- It' time for my December recap... a bit late! Last month was all about the feature wall inside my barn conversion and I managed to finish it! I also spent some time working on the land, met up with friends, and I made a Christmas tree!

You cld keep a spray bottle of water near the door and squirt the visitor (cat that is) which won’t hurt them but might put them off entering the house. Great year of achievements.

I decided I wanted this type of life back in 2009 and worked towards it for over a decade... it can take time but I tried to make a little progress each year by saving, taking courses, making contacts, etc. 🙂
I put flexible conduit between the stones then pointed the wall so all of my wiring is hidden. It looks lovely just having a power outlet on the stonework.
Maybe something for you on the next wall you do.

December was very productive for you and with some beautiful results.
The shower will be beautiful and unique when you get it done as will the tool shed, just don't put pressure on yourself it will get done when ot gets done so many things always come up no matter how well you plan just slowly slowly and you will get there.

Exactly! Things will happen as they're meant to... but I'm spending this week tying up some little jobs so I can focus on the shower and shed. Yep, two is enough cats for me!

Your title for this video implies you haven’t finished anything until this last hurrah. But what about planting fruit trees (one is probably never finished). And your plunge pool. And harvesting, and brining olives….and making some extremely dangerous wobbly pop😂….lots n lots of energy and outcome.

Hi! The kitchen hasn't had any progress in a long time and I'm not yet sure what I want to do there... so probably not a specific kitchen video. But maybe I can do another tour inside the tiny house soon and include that.
Kirsty, do you know the channel The Land of Slow Living? They do cob, cordwood, and timberframe building, and I think you'd love their garden. Looking forward to another year watching of your progress, and creativity.

Happy New year! You need to put another goal for January, keep cat population down! Do you have a way to do free or low cost spay and neuter for stray cats? Like trap it, have it fixed then release it again? That will help a lot for future cats. Cats are like potato chips... you can't just have one. However in your situation, I feel that two is more than enough for your house. You don't have room. On the bright side, you won't have a mouse problem.
I think I know this cat, she/he belongs to a neighbour down the hill. I've already trapped and neutered Larry and it's quite expensive for me. If the cat belongs to someone else though and is registered, I can't do it. But in a perfect world, people would neuter their cats! It's frustrating. Hopefully this one is already done. Yep, I haven't seen a mouse in ages!

Me again! Suggestion for the cozy corner: purchase a 2 seater sectional/sofa with chaise attached....that way you and the furbabies can snuggle together. You could also invest in a small pullout sofa bed...there are some really cool compact ones....good for company visits or party crashing. Cheers from Centre Hastings Ontario 🫶
A small sofa is definitely my plan! With an extra movable bit for feet. I hadn't considered a sofa bed... I think it would be a very tight fit... when I finish the second wall panel and save some money, I'll look into it!
@@PortugalfromScratch You could actually make an L shape / sectional sofa/banquette bench out of wood 40cm W sitting surface, 80cm L on your stone wall side and 100cm L on the bathroom wall side - a wooden sofa was your initial plan to build per a prior video you mentioned it on - where the bed slats fit into each other with one side rolling out and the other side you just physically pull - all in all making it the size of a single bed (80cm W as you open the slats, 40cm sitting surface x2, and as you pull roll the slats (added to the ones you physicall pull, you get total 200cm L). Similarly to how Japanese wood puzzles are made. (hard to explain on here but i can visualise this and it is not complicated, you just have to draw the options). For the cover, futons are wonderful for folding, you can have it custom made by a friend, sitting cushions also used unfolded as a mattress). I know you have the mezzanine in mind for a possible guest bed, but as creativity evolves so might the use of the mezzanine 🙂
I'd love to build something but I think I'll make a call closer to when I'm ready for it. I still have another panel of the wall to do first. It would be a fun challenge and I have a friend who could do cushions for me!

Why are you putting off working on the window?? Your home would be so much more inviting without the blue tarp!!
Because I know the tarp will be gone and forgotten eventually and having an inviting home isn't a priority when I don't really have good spots for people to hang out in anyway... so I don't do as much inviting as I'd like. 🙂 Plus, it's rainy season now until the spring so I'll aim to get started when the summer starts so it's dry.
How are the feline boys doing getting out the shower window? Has Larry found his route? Pls be sure to comment on that when you are working on the shower. :-) and of course…. Possible ways to secure the fortress from ….third cat. 🤣
The shower window is closed for the winter! 😁 But I have a plan for the next winter and I can talk about that in the shower video, thanks for the idea!

How did u get habitation agreement in a tiny agricultural building
Anyone who wants to do this has to talk to the camera and a lawyer and make decisions based on the info they get back.
Hope you can find/fund some help for laying the stone foundation. This is not something to attempt alone I think. Perhaps a little mini-campaign? Best wishes for the new year!
