My wife's first knee replacement was over 12 years ago, and the 2nd was almost eight. She attributes her success (hardly any issues since) to obeying her PT and working through the initial pain. And, of course, a loving and available helper(me, husband)

I had both of my knees replaced almost 4 years ago, two weeks apart. Great surgeon and physical therapist. Anyway, when I was at home recovering I found Bob and Brad. Their positive messages helped with my recovery. Plus the other information they provide is very helpful as I get older. Thanks Bob and Brad!

I’ve had both knees replaced. I listened to my doctor and my physical therapist! Following their advice regarding meds and at home exercise. I have full range of motion in both knees. Thank God for good therapists and good doctors! ❤️❤️❤️

I always took my pain med 1 hour before physical therapy. Helped me to do what was expected and healed faster because I was able to do the work. Been 20 years and still going strong.

I got both knees done in 2019, 3 months apart. Did recumbent elliptical regularly pre surgery. I couldn’t be happier with both knees now. One thing that helped me was to keep a notebook by my recliner. In there I noted what exercises and how many reps, what time I took meds, and other thoughts that I didn’t want to forget about. After all, you will have plenty of time on your hands for awhile. I could not sleep in bed for six weeks because especially the second knee became so sensitive to touch, but the recliner was very comfortable for sleeping. The whole process is BRUTAL, but in my case, totally worth it.

Sure wish my docs recommended building strength at the knee BEFORE my TKR's. So glad I only have two knees, they were both troublesome afterwards. Had to get manipulated both times, as my body locked my muscles so I couldn't bend my knee for weeks until I complained enough that then warranted another trip back to the hospital for manipulation. THEN I had so much scar tissue it had to be scoped and scraped out.....worse than the initial TKR. Two years by and it's still troublesome, but getting better. Both mine were hell on earth. Get Strong Before Surgery!!

I was on Extra Stength Tylenol for pain until I went for Physical Therapy . She told me it didn’t matter what I took just to up my pain tolerance. So next time took CBD Oil. It worked and made all the difference. Grateful my friend would drive me and I live in Canada.

I wished I had heard this before having both knees replaced. Especially, one month apart from one another. 10/2021 and 11/2021. It’s been a struggle, but I’m now at a better point. Whatever anyone does, don’t forget to do the bending of the knees as much as possible and do not lay in bed whenever it hurts. If it hurts, you must move it. I’m still in therapy, but I’m going strong.

You gents are tremendous, i had both knees replaced and your right about pain meds before therapy but you need to fight through the times it hurts to break up the scar tissue to get the range of motion saw many people baby it with poor results

I wish I had bought the knee glide. When my partner has his done, I will surely purchase it for him! My PT was awesome. I loved the recumbent eliptical used in therapy. I bought the Teeter and I love, love, love it! Getting stronger all the time. Walking a mile outside in comfort. Thanks for your videos!

I'm in that 10% due to the fact I have a wonderful talent producing massive scar tissue. Also I had a horrid physical therapist post surgery. I went to a wonderful therapist before replacement. Moved , so different one post surgery. I am not a wimp when it comes to PT and pushed myself daily. I agree with presurgery therapy. Use your gut if you are not pleased with your therapist. CHANGE!! not because they hurt your feelings or you have pain after PT, but because they are hurting your knee and it is becoming worse each week. Thank you BOB & BRAD for info you shsre.

This would have been great to have before my TKR last July. I wasn't given anything pre-surgery and my first round of PT was really, really bad! My pre-surgery bend was 120° and my first PT said my 105° was great because "you can't getore than 110° with a TKR anyway," which was a total lie!

Massage helps break up scar tissue. I've never had a joint replaced, so I don't know if the scar tissue would be too deep for massage to do any good. Just thought it might help in between movement.

Oh man I had to have surgery in March 2021. Should’ve gone online to find those exercises. I also waited 7 years before I did surgery that was my biggest mistake.

Knee Lunges could I be trying to hard doing these ? seems like I'm setting myself up for more pain afterwards 1 knee (Left) 2 months out other 1 month out. Left knee was slowly getting better till started doing different PT exercises.Pretty much moved into more intense exercises after 2nd surgery which doesn't make sense,Its like I'm jumping the gun on 2nd surgery?

One night surgery, lol. How about home the same day? Once I came out from under anesthesia, it was a walk around the hallway a couple of times with a walker, up a couple of stairs and bye! Oh, I did get my apple juice and cookies first, lol. I plan to hold off my other knee surgery as long as I can.

I am 39 years old, and I tore my medial meniscus about 13 years ago. It's split like a sandwich. I have a labor-intensive job. I've been told I need a partial knee replacement, but I am too young for it. What would you recommend for pain management and swelling prevention?
