Jane, what an absolutely delightful and beautiful home! You and Mike have done such a lovely job. I can see myself sitting down for a cup of coffee or tea, reading a book, chatting with you and Mike, or just enjoying the quiet. That’s a house to be comfortable in and proud of. Thank you for sharing with us.
My word ! Combining your husband's talents and your frugality have certainly paid off ! The transformation is spectacular ! I love your home .....it's so warm and inviting. 💖
I do not take anything away from Mike's considerable and valuable contributions when I say that you, Jane, are the heart of your home. Good job. Definitely a labor of love.
My first few videos I made on TH-cam was the transformation of our abandoned village farmhouse and now renovating some of the abandoned outbuildings including a derelict donkey stable at our rural location in Cyprus.
I always admire your kitchen tiles and blue plates displayed when you are filming in your kitchen. Lovely to see them in context. The picture window in the kitchen showcases a gorgeous view. Thanks for a very enjoyable tour!
You and Mike are such an inspiration. Back in better times, we visited Huelgoat as a family on holiday during October half term probably about 5 years ago now, having seen you introduce the area when you were renovating your old house in town. We had such a lovely family week, the children still talk about the magical woods and wobbling rock, I really hope to return again once the world calms down and starts to recover. Meanwhile, we have now both been made redundant and you have inspired us to use this time as practically as we can, tackling lots of outstanding jobs around the house ourselves which we probably previously would have just paid someone else to do. My husband in particular seems to be finding this very motivating and good for his mental health, despite there being lots of challenges, new skills needed, much patience with our wobbly walls and floors! We are just approaching 50 so some time to go before we had expected to be 'retired' but watching everything that you have both tackled (many times over) is positive and uplifting to us, giving us ideas looking forward to how we might want to spend the next 10 years here on this beautiful planet. Thank you so much Jane. Both your lovely home and your lovely spirit are keeping me grounded and optimistic at this rocky time xxx
Wow Sarah, there’s nothing like huge change to inspire us all and you both included. If and when you are ever this way again, come and visit. Come for tea and cake by the river.
My husband felt the same way you do, but he worded it a bit differently (being from the South in the U.S.): “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Those words always bring me a smile. 🙂
I absolutely love your French home it is gorgeous. I can imagine all the hard work that went into making it your little piece of paradise in france was worth every minute. You and Mike have made a show house to be proud of.
Jane your home is some warm, inviting, charming and absolutely beautiful....it is such a credit to you and Mike for many hours of hard labour to create your home and I think it is amazing.
So lovely and cozy. I so enjoyed the tour. I think everything is useful and practical and Mike did a lovely job. What a beautiful frugal home...well done friends. 😃🏡🌳💕
Ah we had a couple of those singer sewing machine tables in my childhood home in Poland, my parents bought them at a vintage flee market and restored them with beautiful wooden tops. Everyone always commented on them when visiting. ❤
Very quaint house in lovely France! I like how homely and cosy you both made it! It is filled with both of your efforts, for which I am sure you are proud. Thank you for sharing! Love from Malta xx
Hello Jane . Your house brought up lots of feelings from when I was a child. Your stove in the kitchen looks a lot like the one we had when I was about 7.Ours was a bit larger because it had a tank for water on the right of the oven, so we always had hot water Your dresser which you sort of cut up is something every French kitchen had....My late mother in law kept hers until the end...well Jane I guess I’ll just grab a cup of herbal tea and meditate ....
Loved looking around your home. I envy you your wood burning heating and cooking, although I realise it comes with the added chore of wood chopping etc., There is just something about fire that is comfortable and comforting. Your rooms are cosy, and the mix of your personal belongings and your furniture attest to your clever use/re-use of things, and your frugal mindset. Thank you for sharing. Sharon Parsons
Mike is very talented . I love the tiles in the kitchen and the stairs caught my eye the first time I watched. They are gorgeous. It's a wonderful place . Blessings to all
I love your home too! It's just lovely! Your husband is so talented! You have every reason to be very proud of him. I can just imagine how long it took to remodel your home. I would absolutely love to have your wonderful wood stove in the kitchen! Its so cozy and warm. Thank you for the tour - I really enjoyed it! Have a beautiful week and see you next week!
Looks lovely. Love them tiles! Nice and clean too :) I'm all for buying decent quality second hand furniture, rather than new cardboard wood things. Proper wood will last a lifetime if looked after.
You have created a very beautiful stylish practical and comfortable home between you and to have managed to do that frugally is quite an achievement well done and thank you for sharing and inspiring those of us who are not able or not inclined to throw money at problems. You obviously make a great team and with your many skills compliment each other superbly. I wish you much luck and happiness as you continue to work on your lovely home God bless from Vera in Northern Ireland
Thank you for sharing. Your home is very nice and it is done so very practically. We don’t have to live with expenses so high when we simply appreciate the simplicity and utilize our resources. I love to buy used to create a home that I make. I love your budget clips Because the bottom line is that we are rich matter how much we make depending on how we manage our money. I think that’s what I like most about your channel. I am not a subscriber from the USA and I just found your channel so keep up the good work.
Lovely home. My husband and I live in a 900 square foot Victorian house built back in 1928. Have a German Shepherd dog. We are middle aged and have lived here for 15 years.
I love love, love, love your kitchen ! Hubs and I are in our mid 60s retired on a fixed income but saving to do an addition and kitchen some day in the long ahead future,,, hubs says we should just have the addition framed and walls put up and then live in it a while before doing the carpentry . I would like a free standing kitchen with less built ins . Yours strikes a nice balance and is very inspiring for me ! ❤
Love the backsplash in your kitchen, so homey. The wood cooker and antique staircase are interesting to, the whole house is nice. You really do things right🌞
Well I loved this tour of your lovely home. You are such a good team to have pulled all of this together. I admire you so much for sharing all your ideas and tips. Thank you.

Lovely home Jane, Mike is a clever persons but he couldn't have done it without your clever input. I know it's been said before but the kitchen wall tiles are to die for and your doggies looked comfy in their hidey hole! X
Love how you've got a story to tell about every item in the house or how much it cost and where you got it from! I could do the same in my house. 🤣 Wouldn't it be great if everyone else was happy buying from charity shops all the time?.
It would be great. We've always done this. It partly has contributed to us being able to retire at 55 as we don't spend much money. Thanks so much for watching our videos.
As you finish your DYI projects around your French cottage, it would be very interesting to see the progress and your final results. You both live in such a cozy and warm atmosphere. 😊

I too have just renovated my new home, having watched this video before I started I used your ideas as inspiration. I set my budget of how much I could spend before I completed on the property. I have had a record of every penny I have spent. The renovation is coming to an end and I am pleased to say I still have a little money left in the Re are still a couple of items I would like to purchase but I will wait until I see a suitable piece in the charity shop or on one of the on line sale/ free sites to get these within my budget.

If only we all could meet a man who is a “Jack of all trades”. Very nice home. Question out of curiosity: What does one pay for a 40 year old uninhabited home in France?
We paid 44,000€ for a derelict house, with no kitchen, no bathroom, no glass in the windows, no doors that were functional and 2.5 acres of derelict land
