@@Booboonancy ; - D Your comment cracked me up! I had a similar reaction when I saw the "before" of her son Nathaniel Drew's apartment that she helped him change because to me it looked like it had already been redone recently (I do prefer the "after" though!). But actually I really admire people who are willing to spend the time and money to make their home truly their own. I've felt low-key tortured by certain things in my apartment for over TWENTY YEARS because it felt "wasteful" to change them, and in retrospect it would have been so worth the money! I'm sure there are people who are truly indifferent to aesthetics, but for me, being in surroundings I personally find beautiful feels soothing and inspiring. And the opposite is like a low-grade itch I can never fully scratch!
to see cecelia in her element is so beautiful! as a fellow cancer woman, i see a lot of the same obsessive, 'get it done asap', stubborn passion in her as i see in myself 😅 so glad that you guys finally found a new place to call home! it truly is a beautiful property, i can't wait to see how cecelia will transform it ❤️
The house is beautiful and I think if you have the money, creativity, dream and energy for these projects, then go for it. As a minimalist, keeping it small and simple is where my husband and I are at. I am sure your sons are thrilled.
For sure agree with minimalism. I downsized and donated many items in order to go with the minimalist culture. It was a relief. Now I have a lovely home that sparkles and is mostly white decor. No ornate antiques anymore. Although their house is nice and reminds me of how I used to have one similar to theirs I am so glad I chose the path of small and minimalist. If I get together with family it is fine and we usually aren't into big family meals. We go to venues and drink coffee or tea after at our homes. New era and glad that I am progressive that way as I do not like clutter or collecting momentos either. My son sold his large home and downsized to a luxury high-rise apartment overlooking the gulf. My family does not care about large homes as we did all that back in the early 2000s and 1990s. We have money so it's not because we can't afford it but mostly we like the minimalist culture and the ease of moving around to other homes if we feel like it. To each their own.

Exactly. Less is more and it is freeing to the body, mind and soul to live simply. I was exhausted after watching this. Kind of an exercise in self indulgence - but as they say 'Chaque a sont gout' :)
@@jasminealixandranorthWhat exhausts me is needlessly judgmental comments that rain on other people's joy. Tacking the French equivalent "but to each their own" at the end of it doesn't make it any less icky. < : - (

None of this really matters. We are all just passing through for a short while. Everything is borrowed. You had a perfect home in Oregon in the most stunning setting. I have the feeling that once this is all done, in a couple of years you will grow bored again and start the whole process over again, somewhere else. Love your dog though, and hope you spend more time in nature - instead of obsessing over the mundane. As you say in your introduction about yourself - it's about the 'internal' not the 'external'. All this materialism and need/desire for so much stuff is really not what it's about. It's a weight. More to clean, insure, dust and on and on. Could be lost in the blink of an eye by fire or theft or a multitude of other life occurrences. Sometimes that wisdom comes with age. “We buy things we don't need with money we don't have to impress people we don't like.” Favorite part of the video - the garden and your most precious little dog who I hope is getting the love and affection he/she needs amidst all of the chaos. I recently lost mine - and despite being a minimalist for decades, it really reminded me that inanimate things mean absolutely nothing - and are just that - 'things'.
Agree, happiness doesn't come from external objects, even though it appears to. For a couple so in to personal growth I cannot believe they can't see they are just repeating what they did in the United States ie. buy a big house and make it look beautiful and then a few years later wonder why it hasn't made them happy. Then think the solution is to move somewhere different and do the same again.......How long until they move to Spain?
well, from that perspective really nothing material matters and should they now move to a cave in the Himalayas ? Interior design is literally an art and she is an artist, a designer a creative. That is the point of this video . If they in the future want to move on and do it again, after getting top euros for this one - that is fine. It’s 😅bivous that a lot of fun and excitement is had by everyone involved in this creative process. Okay isn’t it materialistic to expect to stay in the same house for ever, if the process of designing it , is what really floats your boats ? just saying …🎉❤😂
If you are watching it for ideas, art and design then it’s great, I have no problem with it (or buying and selling houses for profit, or living in one!). I was watching with the content and feel of what I’d seen on the rest of channel in mind. With its themes of self growth, change and the internal world. Just read the channel description, It’s everything this wasn’t. So the difference between the two seemed jarring to me. Perhaps she should have her own channel and keep the design separate?
They enjoy it and are surrounding themselves with beauty. Then they’re sharing with us. There’s more depth and graciousness in it all than these projections give room for. Also, people get to change. Do new things. As many times as they want. Or don’t. It’s our choice to make for ourselves.
So lovely to see Cecilia’s joy creating your new home. Little tip for the baskets- to reshape them, wet them and pack them with rolled up towels, stood vertically to round out the walls of the basket and let them dry. Thank you for letting us share your journey! 😊🇦🇺
A lot of work. Personally, I would just want to relax more and let go of the need for some much stuff, start fresh in a new country, and simplify. But, I do enjoy watching your videos and seeing all the new adventures. 😊
I think using it as a laundry basket for a while it will regain it’s round shape, just by putting the clothing in there!! You guys scored!! Beautiful home 🏡 ❤
I love how you discuss the difference in your energy levels. Very interesting! Have a look at a concept of “Human Design” - there are 5 main types of energy levels and you two fit perfectly into the so called “generator” or maybe even “manifesting generator” for Cecilia- those non stop type of ppl who like the generator bunny have amazing stamina to get stuff done. “Projectors” types on the other hand, like Josh possibly, are the more managerial, supportive types who need more rest and down time. It’s not surprising then that Josh cannot keep up with Cecilia’s energy, nor should he try! I recognise this pattern very well because I am a projector and my husband is a workaholic generator! I also have my moon in Cancer so can totally relate to Cecilia’s nesting instinct and having to live in beautiful surroundings. ❤
To be honest I find all this "I must have this design of taps and I must have that exact design of rug in that particular place and this item by this one unique designer very, well it goes against the ideas deeply inculcated in me in childhood which as I've been rejecting and throwing them off for decades shows how deeply embedded they are. Maybe it also shows the difference between the USA 'you can have it all" life credo and the older Brit credo of " you'll get what you're given and be grateful".
I've been watching your family's journey for a while now. I myself moved to France from Washington State just a couple of years ago. I have a very modest 200-year-old house just outside the walls of a little village. It's nowhere near as expansive as your house, but your creativity and enthusiasm have inspired me! Thank you for sharing your life and vision, Cecilia and Josh. I look forward to every new chapter :)
I love your team work ! I love how you analyse things ! I love how you admire your wife ! I love how you love ! I love how you describe things ! I love your peaceful voice and storytelling ! I love your house and how it’s becoming the perfect home ! I wish you both a wonderful day from Le Havre (France). 🥰
I'm happy you've figured each other out - Cecelia with her passion/drive to get things done and you, with you supporting her, but admitting you like breaks. I'm like you! It's maddening to me to see such a nice kitchen and her wanting to change it - and pretty much everything else! I'm in love with your home, as is. But I'm sure after all of the madness, it'll end up being another masterpiece. And so it goes.... enjoy the process. And each other through it all!
The frugal part of me saw dollar signs when she talked about things like replacing the kitchen counter and fridge, but I actually wish I had her comfort spending the money to really personalize my home! Being surrounded every day by things that are beautiful to *you* adds so much subliminal and conscious joy to life, especially if you're an artist. And the opposite is also true, as I've learned to my regret after being low-key tortured by the "good-enough" drapes in my house for 20+ years! I wish I'd had Cecelia's boldness when I moved in, and I can't wait to see her vision come to life. I agree with you that it's sure to be a masterpiece. : - )
What a lovely video, congratulations, everything is coming together for the two of you. Watching you both reminds me so much of my relationship with my late husband who passed away unexpectedly nearly 6 years ago. We were also a great match, we worked together for nearly 30 years building and running a business together and made it to 31 years of marriage. It is wonderful to see your videos and how your adventure in France has evolved. Best wishes to you both!
It's so wonderful to see your new place! It must be exciting to decorate to your liking and making it feel like HOME (although I do hope that you find plenty of time to relax and enjoy your new life and surroundings before things get too hectic again hehe). Congratulations again, I'm so happy for you two! ❤
Congratulations. I think you have the perfect mind to be here. You have the French mentality of enjoying simple things, take the time, love food, nature, history, art. Maybe you not complain as much as we do 😂 I’m happy for you. Artists are always feeling good in France. I don’t know why. I’m French and Moroccan and I really like your taste. I love rugs, I love Wood, I love walls with lime.
Oh my, your wife is a genius ! Hard to keep up with may be ? I think you are a magnificent couple ! The house looks gorgeous but I can see it will be stunning when the upgrades are finished. Thank you for the tour ! Love from California !💕🌷
end of frustrating house search videos , queue the frustration with remodel videos lol! i have seen from many other expat channels that getting constuction done in france is very timeconsuming and difficult at best, impossible at worst. I wish you best of luck and cant wait to watch the progress!

What a sweet and beautiful video! It was for me like a love letter to her. You Josh embraced all the qualities and gifts that she has and more! Masterpiece! Congrats once again on the new home! It's so beautiful! Looking forward to seeing the whole journey.
I’m in awe, your house is absolutely beautiful! I can’t wait to see the finished product! As a fellow cancer, I only wish I had Cecelia’s talent & drive. My house is brand new and, after 1 year, I’ve yet to even hang a picture on the wall. 🤦♀️ Keep it up, Cecelia, you are an inspiration to the rest of us!
I love this focus on Cecilia’s creativity, focus and drive. I used to be the same way she is and in many ways I still am but I also agree that breaks are needed. Your home is beautiful and I look forward to seeing Cecilia’s vision come to life.
What a stunning new home. You are living the dream! I absolutely love the outdoor area. What a wonderful place to sit and relax. I am also very creative and love to decorate my little home. It is my passion and pride and joy. No matter how big or small your home is make it cozy, warm and inviting!
Thank you for the wonderful vlog. So excited to view your new home. It has definitely been a journey for you both. Thank you too for the integrity behind your posts. Real. Sometimes raw. Always entertaining. We rejoice along with you as you settle down after such a transient year.
She definitely sounds like a professional designer. She has a vision in her mind and can see it. Your home is beautiful. No one wants echo. It sounds expensive though to change all of that. I’m sure it will be even more beautiful, cozy , and luxurious when it’s done.
Que hermoso homenaje a tu mujer. Si, es inspirador su dinamismo y todas las facetas de su personalidad que captas, pero lo que mas sale es el amor que la has tenido, que la tienes. Y ese tanguito final ... perfeccion!
I can relate to you! I’m a musician and I met my wife as a fellow musician. Since then she’s been decorative artist, interior designer, owned and run an art gallery, designed and started a lighting company, become an artist manager, started and ran a record company, and is now a tarot reader and counsellor, all approached with a similar intensity and energy as I recognise in your great tribute to Cecilia. It can be exciting. It can be exhausting, but it’s always lively!
Love the house. It's great to see it coming along. Cecilia is a creative whiz. I too need a break when I'm doing a project. I find during those times when I'm resting or walking the ideas I need to move forward just pop into my head. When I slow down I seem to make better decisions. I know you'll find what works for you. Can't wait to see more 🥰
Just finished my grandparents 70+ year old house renovation in Croatia, and OMG I'm 35 year old version of Cecilia. We do not stop until it's done. Your house is already beautiful, can't wait until you make it a home.
What a beautiful property! Can't wait to see the changes as you convert it into your home. Best wishes, enjoy watching your journey and the wonderful dynamics you have with each other.
Absolutely love the house, thank you for the tour. Amount of upgrade that you plan scares the shit out of me though. Hope you two get some chill and rest time actually doing nothing and staring at the trees from your patio. You absolutely deserved if after these long months of search ❤
I thought Cecilia looked familiar! I visited her clothing boutique in West Linn many times--it was so cute!! Can't remember the name, think it started with an A and was very interesting. Best of luck with your beautiful new home in France!!!
Felicidades!!!!! I've been following along on your journey since day one. You both look so happy, so excited and genuinely, wonderfully, at HOME! What an exciting new chapter and you've been aptly rewarded for the courage, spirit, and strength you've exhibited on this incredible adventure. Thank you for sharing it with the rest of us. Blessings!
You guys deserve it, from what you’ve shared you both have worked so hard and didn’t settle for less. So happy for your new life in France and an exquisite home. Van a tener un parrillero para asados? Saludos desde South Carolina!
If the phrase of psychologists that people are looking for a partner who is "the best version of their mother" is true, then it seems that your sons have big problems, because finding someone more energetic and creative than your wife will be really very difficult (but not impossible). Thank you so much for another amazing video and I hope you will continue to inspire us more often with new videos!
Your lovely, amazing wife Cecilia is an extraordinary human being with a life force of three continents combined.!!! Endlessly inspirational as she is, she deserves a CROWN. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Best wishes Ags

🎉yay love seeing your new home. That yard is so beautiful and the plans for the home sound exciting. Thank you for sharing your adventure here on TH-cam
Congratulations on your beautiful home. If you're still trying to round out the baskets, may I suggest filling them with sheets or towels. Stuff them as much as you can, super full, until you get the shape you want and let them sit like that until they stay firmly in the round position you want. Hugs, Carolena
Beautiful home brother! I really enjoy how unique the design and layout is. Such a contrast to the cookie cutter builds of north america. I'm sure it will be a masterpiece once your wife put the finishing touches on it.
... I'm a cancer, too, so I can really relate to what wonderful Cecilia is going through, especially with the basket... 😏 So now that we know Cecilia's sign, what about telling us yours too... 😉 Wishing you all the best & power & patience... 😀Love from Crete... 🤗💞💪
Your house amazing. But for me when I do retire overseas , I’m thinking of a much smaller space that would allow me to have money left over to travel, a lot. So many place to go so many food to taste! Plus I think I may go with the minimalist style this time. The older I get the less crap I wanna have.
Goodness, I love the tiles on the wall in the kitchen, and the hardware. I could even live with the countertop, but it will be interesting to see how yours comes out!,
Cecilia, use spray starch along with your steamer or iron as you try to shape your baskets. The fabric needs more body in order to hold. Good Luck & Best Wishes in your new home! 😊👍
I get overwhelmed with her creative ideas lol 😆 😂 but I am sure when she is done with it, the house 🏠 is going to look magnificent!! Gosh, I hope to follow in your footsteps one day and move abroad! The best of luck to you both! P.S. You both crack me up!!
I could not stop smiling throughout this video. What a beautiful home and I love Cecilia’s charm and enthusiasm. Love the part about Cancerian women. That’s me too! All the best to you in your new home. Can’t wait to see the progress!
Congrats on your fabulous home! Like you, Cecilia I love interior decorating (I have degrees in graphic design and photography), I understand your excitement and ideas, but please, give yourself a little bit of down time! That upstairs guest bathroom is totally fine, save some $$ for other things instead of gutting a space that has no major issues. Bises, Monique PS I emailed you as I’m also moving to France next year…
Cecilia, stuff the laundry baskets full with all that excess paper you have until they take on the exact round shape you want. I think that will work! Your home and property is gorgeous and I can see it will be even more so when you’re finished. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦 🍁
Beautiful house! It's a big mistake though, to not get out of the house and go looking in France for interior elements instead of shopping online like Americans do. The country is literally LITTERED with brocantes full of fantastic reclaimed brass hardware, shops of actual basketweavers hand made craftmanship, local potters who make beautiful tiles (or let you design them), and full on high end designers as well. The markets and brocantes range from exclusive historic to rediculously cheap for amazing things, and the country is full of beautiful fabrics etc. There are also auctions everywhere, but hunting for what you like in different regions is a beautiful way to get to know the country, practise your French, and see the variety and beauty thats out there. France is too much about great quality making for centuries to shop in fron of a screen and be bugged over shipping, honestly. Thats just one of those things yoy need to dive into and discover, as Americans. If you want cheese, you go to the cheese shop, and the cheese you find there and connections you make with people passionate about what they produce or sell, makes it worth it every single time. As creatives it's a mistake to miss out bc you're too impatient and want everything clickable and delivered to your doorstep. I'm sure your house will be just as beautiful as you want it to be. I'm just saying it's worth landing and taking in the culture you've got all around you, you'll be surprized. 😉
We see that Cecila is American. We know that American houses are generally very large and putting wood inside makes them more cozy and intimate, but our French houses are generally smaller, with smaller rooms, and putting wood in them quickly makes them stifling and dark.
You guys have become such an inspiration for me. My husband and I are gearing up to move overseas and seeing a couple that isn't in their 20's doing the same thing has been so great. Thank you for the content.
The kitchen is gorgeous why change? The dark blue is beautiful! 🤔 but I guess if you have the budget to put marble, why not! if you bought an ancient rug only to put it in kitchen to step on? Wow the $$$$ you guys must have to buy all these pieces of furniture and Italian chandeliers 🤯.
Yay-yay-yay! You not only hit it with the home (I am so jealous!) this video is fabulously well done! I have watched you from the beginning, and been interested in all you do, but this - this reaches fantastic. I'm looking forward to what you do from now on.
This was a good reminder that traits I think of as being related to my ADHD like hyper-focusing, feeling that all things have equal priority, and not taking breaks can also be part of having an artistic temperament. It's healing to hear them discussed in such a loving and strength-affirming way. < : - ) ❤ I love Cecelia's style and can't wait to see the fruits of all this labor and passionate artistic vision! 😻😃

Lovely video! It is so impressive how Cecilia has such a complete and finalised vision of what each room has to have. I would be nowhere!!
Same here ; )
You two are so good together ❤ Also Cecelia I love your style , your house in Portland was so beautiful so relaxing ☺️
@@janebaker966 I think you're 100% right on that one....
Your home is gorgeous!Cecilia’s a magical person, and the way you have captured her in this video is beautiful. What a team.
🥰
Thank you for the lovely words, Alexandra! 🙏❤️😁
Cecilia is an awesome decorator with great ideas. The house is beautiful already and will be exceptional when done!! Kudos! ❤❤
🙏😁
Beautiful! I had so much fun watching Cecelia enjoy herself. ❤
So sorry for your loss😢.It's heartwarming to hear about partnership ❤️ ♥️ ❤. Peace and healing and warmest of memories.
It's so wonderful to see your new place! It must be exciting to decorate to your liking and making it feel like HOME (although I do hope that you find plenty of time to relax and enjoy your new life and surroundings before things get too hectic again hehe). Congratulations again, I'm so happy for you two! ❤
Thanks! :)
I love your videos! Turning 50 in October and you guys make the fifties look amazing! It helps. You forgot to mention your own starsign…
Congratulations!!! I got goosebumps from your excitement!!!! I wish you both only the best.
Can't wait to see the house ready!! Super beautiful so far. Congrats!
🙏😁 Have you seen her channel ?
So thrilled for you two! Congratulations on finding your lovely home in France. 🌸
Those baskets WILL be round in the next video. I'm sure of it. The power of Cecilia. What a gorgeous property this is. Literal dreams.
What an amazing property and home just as it is! And, I look forward to seeing the transformation.
I’m so, so happy for you guys!! May you make countless beautiful memories there! Cheers! 🥂
Cecilia is so happy! Congrats to you both on finding your new home and thank you for giving us a few peeks along the way.
Cecilla's energy is unmatched - my GAWD! I'm a Cancer - and yes we are nesters. You'll have a lovely home when it's all done, but I think it's lovely now!~
What a sweet and beautiful video!
Your home is beautiful and I look forward to seeing Cecilia’s vision come to life.
the love and adoration you have for your wife is pouring out of this video, it's so beautiful to see❤
I feel so relieved for the two of you that you are finally HOME!
Your wife is beautiful , talented , positive , determined , has a great taste and is a great mother as well ! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you 🙏😁
Que hermoso homenaje a tu mujer. Si, es inspirador su dinamismo y todas las facetas de su personalidad que captas, pero lo que mas sale es el amor que la has tenido, que la tienes.
Y ese tanguito final ... perfeccion!
Stunning home and your wife is just a creative machine. What a lovely tribute to her.
Simply stunning!! I can't wait to see how it transforms over the next few months, congratulations on your breathtakingly beautiful new home!
It's fun unpacking things that you've forgotten.
Cecilia and my mom would get along FAMOUSLY! My mom is also small, fierce, feisty, and knows what she wants. ❤
relax and enjoy it doesn't have to be perfect just chill!!
Blessings!
Your new French home is absolutely dreamy! I can’t wait to see all of Cecilia’s future visions come to life!
What a beautiful home and what a beautiful pairing of a couple. Congrats you guys, can't wait to see the final product (T-12 months!)
Your lovely, amazing wife Cecilia is an extraordinary human being with a life force of three continents combined.!!! Endlessly inspirational as she is, she deserves a CROWN. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Best wishes Ags
Now we need a lot more videos from you two. Weekly would be great 👍 Congratulations and God bless you guys as you put down your roots and create a beautiful home. Lots of love ❤️ from South Africa 🇿🇦
Oh my goodness ❤️❤️❤️❤️I can’t wait to see what it will be when it’s finished! I could see everything you described:) Having coffee outside in the morning, celebrating birthdays and Thanksgiving, it will be magical! So so happy you are so close to your sons too❤️
What beautiful storytelling of such a real, inspiring couple. Thank you for sharing your story, best of wishes for these exciting chapters ahead 🌞
I always look forward to your videos. Thank you so much. You are both quite an inspiration!
Mil gracias 🙏❤️
What a beautiful home and I love all your plans and can't wait to see how they come together. :)
Congratulations on your new home! I've been following your journey since the big move. So happy you guys finally found a home.
🙏😁❤️
I could even live with the countertop, but it will be interesting to see how yours comes out!,
It was worth the wait. Congratulations, can't wait for the home reno videos! Love everything about your new house. Enjoy!
Absolutely wonderful! Your home is beautiful and love the creative process with the design.
Cecilia, use spray starch along with your steamer or iron as you try to shape your baskets. The fabric needs more body in order to hold. Good Luck & Best Wishes in your new home! 😊👍
May you find peace.
Ay Dios mío, such a beautiful home!! I can not wait to see the end results and we know Cecelia gots this. #Superwoman 💜💗
I get overwhelmed with her creative ideas lol 😆 😂 but I am sure when she is done with it, the house 🏠 is going to look magnificent!! Gosh, I hope to follow in your footsteps one day and move abroad! The best of luck to you both! P.S. You both crack me up!!
❤️
I could not stop smiling throughout this video. What a beautiful home and I love Cecilia’s charm and enthusiasm. Love the part about Cancerian women. That’s me too! All the best to you in your new home. Can’t wait to see the progress!
Congrats on your fabulous home! Like you, Cecilia I love interior decorating (I have degrees in graphic design and photography), I understand your excitement and ideas, but please, give yourself a little bit of down time! That upstairs guest bathroom is totally fine, save some $$ for other things instead of gutting a space that has no major issues. Bises, Monique PS I emailed you as I’m also moving to France next year…
Funny as tranquil and meditative you guys looked while searching, open to whatever the universe’s responses are, this looks so frantic?
So funny. I love the sound of the gravel as well. It’s going to be fun watching this transformation!
Beautiful video, you two!! FYI, Cindy and I have been living in Lviv, Ukraine...since last Tuesday! Slava Ukraine!
Cecilia, stuff the laundry baskets full with all that excess paper you have until they take on the exact round shape you want. I think that will work! Your home and property is gorgeous and I can see it will be even more so when you’re finished. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦 🍁
With the unpredictable economy, I would go slow. ❤❤❤
I'm a Cancer too so I get it!:-) Congratulations on your beautiful new home. It's already stunning so I know it will be become an amazing nest.
😁🙏 Have you been watching Cecilia’s channel?
Thanks for watching 🙏😁
For the baskets. Roll up a comforter and stuff it in, then steam from the outside and see if it will hold its shape.
We see that Cecila is American. We know that American houses are generally very large and putting wood inside makes them more cozy and intimate, but our French houses are generally smaller, with smaller rooms, and putting wood in them quickly makes them stifling and dark.
??
It’s gorgeous.
Absolutely love the tile and countertops already in place. Change for it’s own sake. What a shame. Seems wasteful to me.
I love the kitchen colors as well! My favorites!
Love, love, love your narration. You are so articulate, but at the right moment...pop in a cuss word... just to show us you can keep it real!!! Congratulations on the new house!!!
Your wife is lovely. Can she be my best friend?
My goodness, this put a smile on my face. Cecelia is absolutely charming - a force of creativity and drive! I cannot wait to see how she pulls this all off, I hope you will show us. I am absolutely inspired by her!
🙏❤️😁
