I’m an automotive technician and I respect any professional that repairs technology, you are patient and careful. My charging port constantly gets dirt and particles stuck inside and after several cleanings over time and spraying compressed air into the port it won’t charge any longer. I was told compressed air was a bad idea so I stopped doing it, haven’t been able to verify if this is true or not.
what a wonderful video idea, i would assume crazy high pressure is bad so probably just using light bursts would be fine. ill make a video about it
I just tried 120 psi No issue
@@repaironwheels info came from a co worker who went phone repair guy in my city and told him compressed air would damage the internals, so don’t really know how legitimate the claim is. Google has no answers for compressed air at above 100 psi. If What is absolutely a fact is that compressed air from a compressor will shoot tiny particles, and if you spray you’re skin it will penetrate it and go into you’re blood stream, causing air bubbles in you’re blood and medical issues. If it can penetrate you’re tiny pores, maybe these particles are what damage the super tiny pins in the charging port
Thank you helped me fix my charging port :)
Glad I could help 😁
You are truly a professional
Thank you
Thank you very much for this, it was the only good tutorial video I could find :) Will try the fix next week, hopefully it works.
One question; at the end you just plopped the screen down, without applying new adhesive. Is it just not that essential?
At the time of making this video I didn’t have access to genuine Apple gaskets. I’m not entirely convinced that replacing the gasket will make the device water resistant either. That being said I’m making a video about that soon. I have an iPhone 12 I’m going to replace the gasket and then put it under water
@@repaironwheels Thank you for answering.
@@repaironwheels Hi again. I did the repair, it mostly went better than expected, but at end I am having a problem - phone doesn't turn on. It did throughout the repair. I turned it on after taking the screen off and it was fine. I turned it on again after replacing the charging port part and assemblying and it did. Then I disconnected the screen ribbon again to check something and after attaching it again and screwing on the "A16 bionic" plate, it didn't turn on anymore. I was careful throughout the repair to always disonnect the battery first and connect it last, I'm only unsure for on of the times if I actually did it that way -- If it would short something, would it spark or leave a black mark somewhere? Because there was none of that. Also, when screwing in the A16 bionic plate, I might have swapped two screws, and put the one that comes into the hole over the bracket, into a different hole - could that have done something to the board? These are the only two things that come to mind.
The pins on bothe ribbon cables and the ribbon ports look fine and don't look to have debree in them.
I know this is annoying for you "someone inexperienced f**d up, and now they want help", so if you don't feel like answering, I will totally understand.
Just an update on the situation, the above turned out to not be anything major, I only needed to plug in the phone and the screen then turned on. Thank you again for your video guide, I don't know if I would even attempt the repair without it.
@benqu88 glad I was able to help
So I am correct in thinking that the charging port is not tied to the device like battery, cameras, etc and can be replaced without triggering errors?
Correct
Hi , I think I need to do this on my iPhone 14 Pro . It keeps restarting itself at 2 minutes and 30 seconds while using. Or not . And On the panic messages it shows it have an issue with the charging flex . By any chance do you have fix that restarting issue just changing the CHARGING FLEX?
You’re ahead of everyone else knowing what panic logs even are, so good job there. As long as the missing sensor is part of the port than definitely swap it
That’s pretty awesome. I assumed any sort of liquid getting into the phone would cause damage.
If you’re referring to the iso alcohol you are safe as long as you use 91% or higher. I use 99% to clean off the board after soldering. You could soak a motherboard in 99% for a week and it wouldn’t damage it
Any other liquid I would avoid
After doing this repair, have you ever had the phone really heat up and drain the battery, even though it's just idling?
That usually means something is wrong
@@repaironwheels I figured 🙃. I'll open it back up and see if I find anything
Hi. how many cost to replace the Dock Connector on the iphone 14 pro max?
I don’t quote through comments because my pricing will inevitably change as time passes and I don’t want someone to make a decision based on an incorrect quote
I’d you want a quote, call or text me
Your welcome 11:10 from the UK
😄
I think this is the same video as you uploaded before
I took footage from 1 phone and made it into 2 repair, 1 for the housing 1 for the charge port
Alcohol damage the screen??
Oled display assembly is unaffected by iso alcohol. Been using this exact method going on 15 months no with no issues
Sort of a side note, if you use too much iso alcohol on lcd models (xr, 11, SE, etc) you can leave blemishes on the backlight. But you are good to on on oled models
@@repaironwheels great so use of alcohol is fine one iphone 12/13/14?
Absolutely. I also use iso on battery adhesive, to clean ear speaker mesh, or on other flex’s that seem to be putting up a fight. Just keep it away from the backlight ok LCD models
@@repaironwheelsgreat your absolutely amazing thanks alot!!
What good is knowledge if it’s not passed on, right?
this is no a 14 pro max
Id agree with you but then both of us would be wrong.
You can clearly see at 11:12 the lack of sim tray thanks to Esim adoption on the 14 series
In your defense 14 pro max and 13 pro max are nearly identical inside.
I ordered a 13 pro max and 14 pro max oem pull housing right before this video and I had to stare at both of them for a while before figuring out which one was the 14 pro max
