- Like usual, this older lawn tractor put up a fight. Bad tires, no spark, no crank, dirty carb, safety switches, bad ground, faulty coil, chipping paint, and ripped seat. However, I took my time and got it all sorted out and looking as good as a '99 can!

I am literally doing the exact thing right now. Basically same issues too!!
Good one, Kyle! Working in the snow and low temps is definitely a younger man’s game! 😂👍
And the same spot was unplugged!!!! No way.... yup im watching this whole video. More than once. Subbed. Love it. And my ignition was unplugged for some reason
Thank you! Glad you’re enjoying it. I have plenty more videos uploaded like it too.
You certainly covered a lot of ground and issues with this one!🔧👍
This channel is so underrated! I have LOVED every video! Keep it up man
Thank you so much! Plenty more to come!
That was awesome with the tires. I always use the straw on the starting fluid.
Never heard of using ATF. Thanks for the tip. I'll have to try that on some mower tires this spring
Many years ago- i found that you can use almost any coil on any engine- just mount it upside down- sounds crazy , but it works
Kyle , you did great work on this Husqvarna tractor
Thank you!!
Good laugh on the oil mystery haha
I have a John Deere X580 I bought brand new 2 years ago and it shuts off exactly the same way as your Husqvarna. I was told it’s to eliminate backfiring.🤷🏻♂️ Just recently subscribed. Really enjoy your channel. Thanks.
Interesting! What engine does it have?

@@rjd8434 I guess it’s not just a Kohler thing then
I had a Husqvarna lth130 ironically, I paid only $50 for it had all for tires flat PTO was slow to engage paint was faded on the hood chipping paint not the prettiest mower I ever sold but for $50 ran drove mowed can't really complain about what I sold it for.
the coil testing you showed was definitely helpful for future problems I might find again working on a mower.
Looks great I look forward to watching your next video.
Thank you! Much appreciated, and I’m glad the video was helpful to you
@@Kylebythecreek. You worked like redneck way. But I learned about it your mistake. Keep doing videos.( Redneck style)
Good job 👍
Excellent excellent job as always Kyle. Don’t ever doubt yourself. You are the one putting in all of the work, and filming. I’m wondering if it has something to do with that relay. Maybe it is partially failed or they put in the wrong one causing the issue for coil grounding. I can’t wait to see you hit 100k brother 💪😎🇺🇸
Good idea! I could swap out that relay
PERIODT
Good job with that mower.
Thank you!
Kyle, the one thing that must be done when rehabbing a deck , first and foremost if u don't do anything else, paint the underside of the deck. Decks will last for years when they are taken off , cleaned, and quick repaint every fall. If u don't then just throw them away.
Glad you got those tires pumped up there is a TH-cam channel called the tire doctor who has to deal with some tires that are sometimes hard to handle
Nice job Kyle! One way you could have figured out that bad ground quicker would have been to do a voltage drop test on that ground wire instad of a continuity check as continuity doesn't account for high resistance like a voltage drop test can. Hope this helps your future endeavors.
Thanks, good tip. Is that something a multimeter can measure? I’ve never tried that test before
@@Kylebythecreekyes it can. Just set the meter to a Dc scale .A quick ground test could look like this. One lead on the negitive battery post and then on lead on the sussed ground wire. If you see anything above 0.3 volts then that usually means that ground is bad.
Try a little ATF on a rag to shine that hood up too.
I used wd40 this time, but I use ATF for shine occasionally
I can tell you those engines are supposed to kill spark like every other engine thats why the kill wire is there i have a johndeer lt160 with the exact engine and works as it should shuts off immediately with the key. I still think its a ground issue or multiple issues thats a weard one for sure never had that problem
I found that many spark plug sockets are too short- they break the plug
My 2002 Craftsman LT1000 with Kohler 17 hp Pro that looks almost identical to that one except mine has 3 Relays ??
Yeah, I’ve seen those. They are still kind of mysterious to me still
I didn't see you test for spark with old coil, after you plugged the wire back on the safety switch under the fuel tank. Maybe the old coil is still good?
True. You might be on to something
I wasn’t really clear on the specific reasons you put ATF in the wheels. Were there leaks in the beads or what?
Yeah, the tires were slowly leaking air. The entire video spans several weeks of time- not everything gets filmed, but the tires needed a solution to stop leaking air. ATF works well for small leaks
He doesn’t need an explanation he just does 😄
How much ATF do you use per tire in metric, thank you
I don’t measure, sorry
He uses 4 hotdogs and a dishwashers worth. Idk the conversion from America units to metric though
@@theholyplunger thank you
@@theholyplungeridk if that’s an insult or not
I found that you can use almost any coil on any engine- flip it upside down, the hole match is an easy fix
Part of being a good youtuber is getting the title spelled correctly. Not sure what reparing means, which means no one will find this video when looking for repairing videos.
Wow! I didn’t even notice that!! Thank you
@@Kylebythecreek proof read everything before you upload.
@@MowersNBlowers thanks. And I’ve been a subscriber to your channel for a while now. I enjoy it
@@Kylebythecreek cool bro! Appreciate you!
I was looking for repair videos and found this Mr. Culbertson keep doing what ur doing ✌🏻
many years ago I found you can use almost any coil on any engine, just flip it upside down, the hole match is an easy fix
Bro rlly said the same thing twice LOL
Have you tried calling Husqvarna hot line to talk to a tech?
Nope. Has that worked for you before?
i would think your problem is the key switch or ground wire from key switch to ground, with the switch off there should be a path to ground from coil thru switch to ground and ultimately to battery negative
Starting an engine with gas in the oil can blow the engine up
I don’t think it will
Never start an engine with gas in the oil you should know that
