Join Anna & Alf in todays video as they visit LLANFAIRTALHAIARN in NORTH WALES, UK.
It is also called LLANFAIR TH for short.
It is supposed that a WOODEN MONKS CELL was established here bythe MONK called TALHAIARN or TALHAEARN in the MID 6th Century and gradually over the centuries the CELL OF WOOD and TURF evolved into a building of stone and was consecrated to ST MARY and is now ST MARYS CHURCH.
A village of primitive huts grew around the church and graveyard, the original LLAN- LLANFAIR. Because it was such a common name, that of the MONKS NAME was added giving us
LLANFAIRTALHAIARN.
TALHAIARN the MONK was reputably a SAINT and a BARD in the 5th CENTURY.
ST MARYS CHURCH which stands on the site of the old WOODEN CELL that TALHAIARN established has taxation records from 1291 and the CHURCH DOOR is a 17TH CENTURY OAK DOOR.

This si the sort of landscape i really missed when I was away! There something about this farmland and wet landscape that really feels like home! It makes for such a nice place to do some rambling too, I hope to do more now that im back in the UK!

That's a lovely stretch of countryside around that charming wee village. That's some length of a village name. One of my daughters and one of my granddaughters once visited Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, but when they came home and went to tell us about the place, they couldn't pronounce it so they just referred to it as the town with the very long name.

By the way, I copied and pasted the town name from Google.
Haha love that Andrew, I was impressed when you wrote down that name, we call it LlanfairPG for short ! I thought you might have watched our Short on how to pronounce it 😃
