      @@tameriajones593 Probably because the tourist boards in both England & Scotland really push their identity and country.
      Also, the Scottish and English governments are working with a much larger budget, resulting in a more international recognition of their countries.
      Just ask any foreign tourist, which major cities they visited on their travels.
      London and Edinburgh come top of the list, Cardiff comes a distant destination.
      Both England & Scotland are recognised around the world as having their own unique identity, but even though Wales is a separate nation of the United Kingdom, the majority of foreign visitors mistakenly assume Wales is part of England.
      This is why Wales is a not as popular as England or Scotland

    I am a native Hawaiian speaker whose language was endangered, but like the Welsh, we fought hard to bring it back.
    My family and I first visited Wales in 2006, and we fell in love with everything there.
    Fast forward to 2021, and our family has learned that my father's grandmother was actually Welsh and descended from Elystan Glodrydd!
    Even though I was not born there and only been there a few times, I am super excited and proud to know that Welsh blood runs through these veins. I have since started my great journey to acquiring the native language from the "Land of my Fathers."

    When an English couple of friends got married in Wales, a group from my town in Mexico drove 4 hours to Los Angeles, flew for 16 hours to London, then a couple of hours by train to Newport, then about an hour by car, to be there in the small town for the occasion. It was quite the long odyssey.

    This video has flicked a memory switch. I went on a family holiday to North Wales in the summer of 1967. I was seven. We stayed in a cottage up a secluded lane in a village called Cwm-y-Glo, situated at the western end of The Llanberis Pass. I remember it well and have many pleasant memories of those two weeks. My enduring memory was the amount of water; not just in the abundant copious rainfall, but the numerous reservoirs, yet the water was cut off for much of the day. Why? Because there were big black pipes heading towards Manchester and Liverpool. A child's mind is more logical than an adult's and I remember saying to my parents, 'that's not fair.' It still resonates and I can truly understand why the English are not popular in this part of the world. Just a thought.

      @loganstroganoff1284 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thats a problem in parts of the u.s. as well. Here in the southeast Atlanta siphons off huge amounts of water from various rivers and reservoirs. In drought summers lots of small communities have to make drastic conservation efforts to keep the ever expanding atlanta metro monsters taps flowing. It's also severely affected the oyster and other aquaculture industries in the Florida panhandle estuaries bc they depend on a proper mix of fresh water from the rivers mixing with salt water to sustain life. Atlanta uses so much river water from the Chattahoochee and other rivers that it's all but wiped out oyster farming and fishing in these estuaries.

      @peace leader I'm not sure if you're joking or not, but just to be safe... no. Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland and England all form the UK, none of them are provinces (well, except perhaps NI... that's complicated, and I'm not going in to it). There is no such thing as 'England' in terms of political power (i.e. there's no English parliament, only a British parliament containing representatives from the whole UK), so by definition the other three can't be provinces, since a province is a place managed or owned to some degree by an external political power. There is no English political body which is capable of claiming or exerting ownership. However, it is true that England has a much higher population than the other three constituent countries of the UK, so it has more representatives in parliament. This is what people mean when they say things like "England controls the UK" - its not a case of England exerting unfair or undue political power over the other parts of the UK (since, again, there is no political English body capable of exerting that power), its simply that its higher population elects so many MPs that England, taken as a whole, has the most influence over British law. If Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland had a higher population, there'd be more MPs in parliament from those places.
      In any case, that's why many non-English people feel particularly oppressed or ignored by Westminster (perhaps they even feel like an English province), because their separate national interest doesn't have equal representation in parliament. Obviously, whether you accept that depends on your point of view. Personally, I don''t feel that being English gives me any particular advantage, since I'm more concerned with how many MPs agree with my views, not where they're from. And at the moment, my views are particularly underrepresented in parliament. But that's just my perspective, I'm not saying that separatists and nationalists don't also have a valid point of view.

The blue ridge mountain (which is just a section of the Appalachian) is the western side of Virginia, farther west its elevated into the alleghany applachain plateau (mountain country) of west virginia. It is in these two mountain and valley lands where the Scots, Irish, and Welsh settled.

    Best places to visit in Wales: Beddgelert, Llyn Gwynant, Snowdon, Mawddach estuary, Caernarfon, Harlech and Conwy castles, Portmeirion, (Snowdonia generally), Tenby, Bosherston pools, St David's, Elan valley, Rhossili and Worms head, Three Cliffs bay, Castell Coch, Cardiff, Brecon Beacons, Brecon and Monmouth canal, Tintern and Wye valley, Southerndown...so many! And now I fancy a go at recent attractions Zipline and Bounce Below.

    Rick has given me years of joy with his shows. Thank you. I might never get to some of these places physically, but you take me there in spirit.
