Join Anna and Alf in this video as they visit VALLE CRUCIS ABBEY in LLANGOLLEN, NORTH WALES UK which is a TRULY WELSH MAJESTIC MEDIEVAL ABBEY as Anna teaches about its history from when it was FOUNDED IN 1201 by PRINCE MADOG AP GRUFFYDD ( the PRINCE OF POWYS ) and THE WHITE MONKS OF THE CISTERCIAN ORDER, until it was CLOSED DOWN IN 1537 DURING KING HENRY V111 OF ENGLANDs DISSOLUTION OF THE MONASTERIES and its connection to ELISEGS PILLAR, LINK TO OUR VIDEO OF ELISEGS PILLAR - • ELISEGS PILLAR - Princ...
It was the last of the 14 Cistercian foundations to be built in Wales and has the ONLY SURVIVING MONASTIC FISHPOND IN WALES.
It's Latin name ( Valley of the cross ) refers to the nearby 9th century Pillar of Eliseg / Elisegs Pillar which stands nearby to this ABBEY.
The pillar is some 500 years older than the abbey and as mentioned above if you are interested we have a video of the Pillar ( link above) where Anna teaches about the connection between the two .

Wow that is a huge monastery from a long time ago. The place is a ruin but the building still holds it's structure up to this date. The foundation is so strong , which is amazing!🤩🤩🤩

The ruins of Crusis Abbey still standing there beautifully. I was amazed how they built and survived for how many decades, but it hasn't lost its beauty. Another magnificent tour today, thanks a lot Anna. Excellent!

I remember when i first watched your channel videos and I almost could not understand your english with the Welsh accent. Now I'm very accustomed to your voice and accent and I can understand it clearly. It's a very pleasant accent and i enjoy hearing it for sure! We don't have any Welsh people where i live in Vegas so it's a joy to come here and learn about the locations way over there across the pond. I wish i could go into a time machine and live a week in these medieval times and experience the life. It's really interesting. The Valle Crusic Abbey has a fascinating history.

This is so cool. I LOVE old buildings. It's amazing that any of it is still standing considering its age. So awesome that there is still some there. Great bit of history behind it. Not that I expected any less. No way it could not be full of history at its age. Those windows are so gorgeous! I am in love with the design. How fun that you can go inside and check it all out. Such a shame it fell in disrepair. But still very awesome that there is still a bit of it to explore.

This is probably the most amazing thing I've ever seen in my life..The abbey is over eight hundred years old...Almost the same age as Moscow, which Prince Yuri Dolgoruky founded in 1147..The arches are beautiful, and the internal vaults are similar to the interior decoration of the Faceted Chamber of the Moscow Kremlin.. This is Gothic...And that's fine...I'm glad we can enjoy the abbey...We begin to dream and imagine its original appearance..Martin and I really enjoyed this video tour...Anna, it is very pleasant to listen to you and watch your excursions...Alf is like a cute ghost flickering through history and it's nice to see him...Greetings to Alf from Martin, Irina...and a Novel...

Absolutely beautiful place. Great history. I thought it was very interesting about the fish pond and the Windows were amazing. So sad about the place falling into disrepair for a while. I'm so glad it's here today. 👍❤️ Great repair work.

Happy New Year Anna & Alf 🥳. The Abby is very charming. I like hearing about the monastery and how they had a fish pond to provide food for themselves. Too bad you couldn’t get footage of it. Interesting history of the Abby and sad to hear of the fire. It’s still a beautiful looking place and I think it would make a lovely backdrop for wedding photos.
