I've seen in other videos that cleaning the iac doesn't yield much change. It was suggested that swapping this part was the only effective way to bring the idle back to normal be it too low or too high. My 98 ranger was idling so high that it threw a code for it. It does have 225000 miles on it and I don't know when the iac last was changed. Going to give this a shot and have a replacement iac on hand on case it doesn't work out. Thanks for the video brotha.
@tongo117 I just bought the truck and the iac valve was basically brand new. There was hardly any carbon build up, and the throlle body looked well maintained as well. The truck was idling a lot smoother than what I've seen on here so far, and the actual problem at hand was the oil was low 😅. It's funny how we always jump to the nitty gritty before we check the fundamentals. I did an oil change and the ranger is running great.
Definitely good preventative maintenance. Yours wasn't too bad, you'll Definitely know if it's sticking though because rpms will race then come back down with throttle input. Like when driving and at stops. Thanks for the good how-to video 👍🏻
I’m currently having rough idle issues on my 02 duratec. I have new plugs , new spark plug wires , new fuel filter , did a fuel pressure test so I know the fuel pump is good.
@ditch9802 not sure, but when my OE Motorcraft started acting up on my 93 ranger, I put a new aftermarket one from o'Reilly on and it did the same thing. I ended up returning the aftermarket one, cleaning my OEM one real good and it's been running good ever since. So I'd try either returning the one you got a d try another, or cleaning the OE one. Good luck and hope you get it figured out.
My 2008 3.0 manual is having a issue where it does not crank at all, or it sometimes will turn on but "partially", where the engine has a light rumble below the normal idle rpms and I have to start reving it to keep it on and immediately drive it otherwise it will shut off. And when I rev it for a bit and drive it it then all of a sudden fully fires up, (full normal rumble with the higher normal rpms). And then sometimes it starts with no issue. Any ideas what it could be? I changed the battery and ignition coil. Next I'm thinking to do the spark plugs. Mechanic scanned it and couldn't find a problem. I will try cleaning this part too.
There is a hose coming off of the charcoal canister back by the gas tank. It has a sensor built into it. You didn't say if your ECM was going through diagnostic mode. If that sensor is bad it won't and it will idle high. You will have to change the hose to change the sensor.
Cleaned the valve but was in open position when I removed it. Valve stays in same position when power is applied. Idles same when plug is disconnected or connected '98 Ranger 3.0
great video ! looking for some advice on my 2000 ford 2.5l. i have a lean code, checked for vacuum leaks with a smoke machine. there was smoke coming out of the idle air control valve's(IAC) top/breaher cap/vent (not sure want its called), and on the Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR valve) vents holes . wanted to know if that was normal?
I haven't done a smoke test on this ranger but I do remember doing one on my 96 Lexus ES300 and smoke came out of the EGR valve.. I thought the same thing, should it be doing that? I didn't replace the valve just left it as it was..
I had this issue with my 91 3.0 and I went to the junk yard and got one off of a 2.9 don't know what year it was but so far so good.Plugged right in and i drive it to work everyday.
This fixed the issue I was having. Thanks, mate!
Glad to have helped.. Thanks for reply..
Thanks man, you just saved me some money
Glad to have helped..
The rubber gasket is called a weather pack or weather gasket. It keeps moisture/water/dust/dirt from getting in the electrical connection.
Woud of never guessed 😂
I found a slither of leaf between the valve , pull back the valve and tweezers that sucker crap out work 100%
Check your throttle position sensor (tps). It controls the throttle body butterfly.

Replaced is Idle Air Control Valve (2006 B2300) and I still get high RPM's.

@@360plussynthetics Thanks. I tossed the OEM though. I'm going to clean the MAF next and check the PCV next.

Need help..... Ford ranger 2012 2.3l hesitates when start to run for about half a mile and then run fine after that.. ?

what do you do if your ranger is stalling when turning?
Can you use throttle body cleaner to do it???
that should be fine, yes..
@tongo117 I did it it worked pretty well did the same to my throttle body as well
i always put dielectric grease all all connectors i can. that should told that gasket better too
My ranger stays reved up till the truck comes to a complete stop
Do you have issues with throttle sticking as well?
Mine does the same thing
@@Wontcave yes
Im pretty sure it’s supposed to do that. Some epa bs
@@masterblaster1676 really?....2500 rpm seems a bit excessive.
I don't mean to be a critic but you turned it upside down more than once.

Might as well clean the MAf if your doing all that.
