    This is the reason I decided to enroll in your program and can't wait to begin. The realness, transparency., and desire to educate another 🙌🏾. I watched one of your videos about certifications on my lunch break today. I heard you say as a nurse you need to learn reimbursement methodology along with code sets. I went online and found a small booklet On principles of health care reimbursement so I can learn it from the base roots while I wait to start my program. Again I thank God for you. Not to be religious cause I am not but I am a believer of the Word. This is an example of your gift will make room for you. Continue to do what you do and watch God Blessing.
    Thanks again
    Yolanda

    The RN’s here in New York (outside of NYC) new hires I believe start at $86k and up. The money is here, but what I can say I’ve rarely heard anyone is “happy” and they are all understaffed consistently.
    I have been LPN for 10 years and finally looking into coding. I don’t want RN just to be unhappy with a bigger check.

      Hello and thank you SO MUCH for watching my video and leaving me a comment!! Nursing salaries vary greatly nationwide. The national average salary for nurses is nowhere near $86K to start. Money is not the only reason to pick a career, which is the point you stated towards the end of your comment. I agree wholeheartedly!!! I never wanted to be an RN. I found an area of healthcare that I really enjoy and pays me to work from the comfort of my own home in peace!!!

    Thanks for this information, I am at Penn Foster and I feel like I was taking it in vain, I am still interested in taking your course on some of the things they don't cover.

    This is definitely what I want to get into. I just became an LPN this year and I want something more! Thank you for sharing this! I am so ready for this change! I am thinking about getting my CPC next year with the AAPC. I was also thinking about getting the CDI cert? We will see what happens.

      First, CONGRATULATIONS on passing your boards!!!!!!! Secondly, thank you for watching my video and leaving me a comment. If your goal is the CPC, go for it, but do not get any additional credentials until you get a job in coding. Once you start working with your CPC credential, I would look into either the CPMA or the CDEO credential. Both will open up additional opportunities for you. Good luck and keep me posted!!!

    I totally agree as it relates to the money aspect...I am suffering from bedside burnout as well as I yearn to have control over my work hours pretty much write my own ticket so to speak... I have someone who runs her own team if coders and is pushing me to get certified and my job is guaranteed ...so I am so glad in my search our paths have crossed

    Thank you for the information. Would you say that a nurse should take coding courses and certification shortly before retirement?

    • @thecodingnurse
      @thecodingnurse  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If your plan is to do medical coding in retirement, then absolutely! Other than that specific reason, it can be learned at any time in your career. I don't recommend nurses get into medical coding until they have at least 2 years of floor experience.

    hi sir, I just passed my Certified Risk Adjustment Exam, what would you recommend I do next? Should I proceed to Clinical Documentation Improvement? I'm a BSN-RN for 29 years now. Please advise. Thank you.

    • @thecodingnurse

      First, CONGRATULATIONS on passing your credential exam!!! I STRONGLY suggest that you get your resume professionally redone to highlight your transferable skills and coding skills. I recommend the person I used. On IG, her name is "thesixfigurecoder". In terms of next steps, I think your first goal, after getting your resume redone, is to find a job in risk adjustment. This is the best of time year to look!! Also, try to apply for HEDIS positions. Additionally, when you get your resume redone, post it on LinkedIn and Indeed. You asked about CDI. What is your long term goal? Do you want to go into CDI? You need experience to supplement any credential you obtain, especially a credential like CDI. If so, I would suggest you find direct hire risk adjustment jobs, as opposed to contract jobs, where you can interact and give feedback directly to the providers. Once you've done that for a six months to a year, I would get the CCDS-O credential. The website is acdis.org. I hope this helps and good luck!!
