@@myke13021 Well, I don't think "catch phrase" was really 'intended' (intentional) there. The scene at 31:29 is taken out of context. Jodie comer, is an absolutely amazingly talented actress from the UK, you should check out killing Eve as she has so many accents and characters in it, also help or thirteen, along with many other shows shes done are great, she even had a cameo in the rise of skywalker.
The boss is played by Taika Waititi, which you might also know as Korg from the Thor movies (He also directed some of those). The song that you recognized as being used in a horror film (“make your own kind of music”) was actually used in season 2 of “Lost”, in an episode introducing the bunker (Great scene by the way!).
Alex wonders how he doesn't know what pop culture movies even exist - then goes on to reference a pike jump in gymnastics, and look up the definition of 'NPC.' I find this really incredible for a person of his age, but can only imagine it has something to do with living in the real world for the majority of his childhood and then pursuing law school before becoming the YT personality he is now. What a weirdo 😆😆🤣🤣💖💖
Another fun fact: The slow version of Fantasy that's playing while on the bridge was actually sung by Jodie Comer, the girl who plays Milly Rusk AKA Molotovgirl.
I'm not sure what else the song was in, but "Make Your Own Kind of Music" was in the show LOST Also, Jodie Comer (Millie) is the one singing the "Fantasy" cover. Ryan Reynolds made her do it lol. I wish there was a full version of it

It was hilarious tp see someone do not recognise him in this movie 😂 I love absolutely everything about this movie, but "catchphrase" is my favorite thing ever 😂😂😂😂
I don't think i've ever seen a bad movie with Ryan in it. He is my absolute favorite actor of all time. And, I LOVE that he plays "himself" in so many movies. And to answer your question - I would pick him before Gosling every day of the week!!
Taika Watiti is a legend!! Plays Korg in the Thor films. And directed Thor: Ragnarok and Love & Thunder. Plus his work on What We Do in the Shadows! A movie I definitely recommend for you Alex!
I usually gravitate towards older movies, but when this movie came out and I saw it in theaters I laughed and cried and gasped and smiled so hard my face hurt and it's in my top favorite movies of all time. one of the literal best movies ever made period.
Shawn Levy, the guy who directed Free Guy, also directed many Stranger Things episodes, The Adam Project, Real Steel, Crater, and the upcoming Deadpool 3 with Wolverine
20:13 "If he knows how??" It's actually very clever writing that EVERYthing in-game follows game code rules. This is the mistake that the McConaughey movie Serenity made, not following its own rules of its premise so the reveal later made earlier things make no sense. There would be no command in a game like this to allow characters to kiss. And SHE still thinks BSG is another player, as does everyone else in the real world (a player using an NPC skin that isnt even available, therefore a hack). So she's assuming maybe HE knows of a hidden command that would allow a kiss action in game. But she herself cannot initiate as she doesnt know the command. And yeah, she's falling for him in a player v player virtual way. So.... "okay, if you know how to" makes perfect sense from a game code perspective.
I love this film so much. It’s my go to when I need cheering up. Love the soundtrack, the references to other games. Lightsaber for heavens sake. Took my son to see this at the cinema and seriously the whole place was just laughing and having a great time at a great film. What more do you want?! And it got loads of award nominations/wins including (believe it or not) Best American film in China… yup, really. They loved it. I love this film. It’s breath of fresh air when everything is so heavy…
I feel like Ryan Reynolds always plays a version of himself, but I always find it entertaining. One of my favorite roles of his is the movie Just Friends. To me it’s classic Ryan Reynolds comedy, I think you would enjoy!
If you notice a recurring musical score in this movie, that's from Paperman, the Disney animated short, which had the same composer, Christophe Beck. I see a similarity between that short and Free Guy, especially near the end, with Reynolds saying, "I'm just a love letter, but someone out there is the author."
I love the bits you don't notice at the first viewing, like the car that changes colour behind Guy and his friend just after the coffee conversation...
If you don't know, there are a few hidden cameos, including Hugh Jackman, Dwayne Johnson, and Tina Fey. This film was a lot of fun. I believe anyone who plays video games would enjoy it.
At 2019 New York Comic Con everyone got a text that there was a surprise panel with Ryan Reynolds, fist coke, first served. You never saw so many people haul ass to the main stage. It was to introduce Free Guy. We previewed the first 10 minutes of the move, which still wasn’t finished. Ryan Reynolds, Joe Keery and Taika Waititi (Antwan) all there. I’m amazed you haven’t run into Taika Waititi before, he’s super talented. He created What We Do In The Shadows and Jojo Rabbit. He directed Thor: Ragnarok, Thor: Love and Thunder.
alex liking henleys and wanting to work corny hollywood lines into his vocabulary only further reinforces the kind of guy i already thought he is lol. i might make a cinema sins-esque channel one day just reacting to your reacts
Alex, you are right about the shirt being "grandma's shirt"; my husband said the same thing about it when I looked at one JCPenney and the girls in my 7th & 8th grade classes wore that pattern on their skirt and blazer outfits back in 1967. So, yeah, "grandma's shirt." I still like it.
Another Ryan Reynolds movie you should check out is Hitman's Bodyguard, it stars Ryan Reynolds and Sam Jackson. Action movie with Ryan and Sam's humor mixed in, it's a win win
This is the type of movie where actors come together as friends. To hell w/ the copyright and cross roles/contracts or who we pi$$ off... lets just do what we love doing, working on a great movie. And it really shows in this project.
The guy with the video clip at the beginning who got shot by Milly in the game was voiced by Hugh Jackman aka Logan from X Men, also the robber who guy killed at the beginning was voiced by The Rock
Alex the villain of the movie is Taika Waititi. He was the Director of Thor Ragnarok and Thor Love and Thunder. Plus he does the voice of Korg the rock alien from the Thor movies.
The song that plays for the emotional/kiss scenes is from Paperman. It’s a short animated film from Disney. I get emotional everytime I hear it. It’s so sweet.
I totally dig this movie. Enjoyed the hell outta it! And yes, Ryan Reynolds is always Ryan Reynolds. Like a Sam Jackson or a Jeff Goldblum. The opposite acting style of a Gary Oldman. Who you can get half way through the movie and be thinkin, “holy💩, that’s Dracula, Commissioner Gordon, Zorg etc…?!!!”
Right after this movie released on Blu-ray, I took it over to my mother's so she could watch it with me as we both enjoy Ryan Reynolds movies. Mom enjoyed it so much, she immediately re-watched it after the credits because of all the little bits and easter eggs in the background. (Look at the shop windows' texts if you don't catch what I'm saying.) Months later, she asked me to bring it over because she wants to watch it again. This is the first time in many years that she's made such a request.
My favourite part about this movie is that they incorporated the soundtrack from the short film “Paperman” that featured before wreck it wralph, and this soundtrack continuesly plays throughout the movie in scenes between Guy and Millie that are romantic. That short film has one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard, and brings me to tears every single time so it was a nice surprise to hear it again in this movie :)
This is such a funny Movie, just FYI The boss is Taika Waititi he is the Director of Thor Ragnarok, and Love and Thunder, also he plays Korg, one of the funniest ever

Did everyone miss that Keys wears a blue shirt in the final scene? Also, the best ending ever would have been to show that they were also AIs in a simulation themselves.
I did not have high expectations for this movie before it came out at all, but I figured Ryan Reynolds, Taika Waititi and Joe Keery were worth seeing it and I absolutely loved this movie, seeing that Chris Evans cameo in the cinema is one of my fave movie moments ever, I was completely unprepared. Antwan is such a dick, but I love watching him being a dick. I'm total Taika trash at this point (especially now the teaser for ofmd s2 dropped 😅) and I've been so since I saw Thor: Ragnarok back in 2017 (which he directed and played Korg in). If you haven't seen Jojo Rabbit it's a must-see, it's been my favourite movie since 2019 and What we do in the shadows is hilarious, too.
One of my favorite movies. Glad you had so much fun watching it. Your reactions are priceless. Check out The Adam Project, another Ryan Reynolds movie. I've watched both of these many times.
18:38 - Dude made outta rocks, best buddy to Thor, named Korg. Director to Ragnarok & Love and Thunder. (Also starred with Ryan in Green Lantern, he still had black hair then)
Ironically, I had the same thought about that joke that never got told. Even tried looking it up to see if it existed; it doesn't. Also, the irony in letting him have the current code to Free City is that since Free City 2 was intended to be a replacement, it would lose its AI coding and without Millie (who built the initial A.I.), they wouldn't be able to fix it.
The park scenes were filmed right outside my office. On the Boston waterfront on the back side of Moakley Courthouse. A few other places in Boston are used and also some spots in Worcester. The city also had to be reproduced exactly in a 3D model for some of the shots.
This movie is like Ready Player One smashed together with The Truman Show with a Ryan Reynolds comical twist instead of Jim Carrey. Great movie and a great role for Ryan, he killed it.

Jodie comer, is an absolutely amazingly talented actress from the UK, you should check out killing Eve as she has so many accents and characters in it, also help or thirteen, along with many other shows shes done are great, she even had a cameo in the rise of skywalker.
Yes, she was brilliant in Killing Eve!
Antwan is Taika Waititi, also known as Korg and the director of Thor: Ragnarok
What a weirdo 😆😆🤣🤣💖💖
maybe he's actually Alex Nataro ?
Another fun fact: The slow version of Fantasy that's playing while on the bridge was actually sung by Jodie Comer, the girl who plays Milly Rusk AKA Molotovgirl.
YES! This is unironically in my top 5 movies
I'm not sure what else the song was in, but "Make Your Own Kind of Music" was in the show LOST
Also, Jodie Comer (Millie) is the one singing the "Fantasy" cover. Ryan Reynolds made her do it lol. I wish there was a full version of it
It was in Dexter season 8.
Yeah, Lost is definitely where I know it from. It was a pretty iconic scene at the time.
There was also a pretty great SNL sketch about using that song in an edgy trailer.
Oh, you really need to watch the Blood & Ice Cream Trilogy, if you haven't already, Alex!
1. Shaun of the Dead
2. Hot Fuzz
3. The Worlds End
Aboslute class movies that you will definetly enjoy :D
"How would you guys describe this dude?". I'd describe him as one of the great directors/writers of this generation :D
Antwan is of course the legend himself, Taika Waititi, Director of Thor Ragnarok and Love&Thunder, Korg in those movies, director and screenplayer of masterpieces like Jo Jo Rabbit, What we do in the shadows and Hunt for wilder people, actor in a lot of movies and tv shows , and much much more.
It was hilarious tp see someone do not recognise him in this movie 😂
I love absolutely everything about this movie, but "catchphrase" is my favorite thing ever 😂😂😂😂
14:25 spotting Jack was such a clutch moment. These cross platform connections are the best. Jack was great in this movie 😅
I don't think i've ever seen a bad movie with Ryan in it. He is my absolute favorite actor of all time. And, I LOVE that he plays "himself" in so many movies. And to answer your question - I would pick him before Gosling every day of the week!!
Green Lantern is bad!
@@brozy5720shhh we don’t speak of that one
@@brozy5720 I like Green Lantern. I've never understood the hate it gets.
Blade trinity
Taika Watiti is a legend!! Plays Korg in the Thor films. And directed Thor: Ragnarok and Love & Thunder. Plus his work on What We Do in the Shadows! A movie I definitely recommend for you Alex!
And Jojo Rabbit, I absolutely adore Jojo Rabbit!
That Thor movie was utter shit and Watitis performance too.

"If he knows how??"
It's actually very clever writing that EVERYthing in-game follows game code rules.
Taika Waititi is the director and the “bad guy” in the movie. If you liked this, try JoJo Rabbit by him as well!
As soon as I heard the music, I was saying "Hey, that music is from 'Paperman'!" - I love that animated short. 🙂
John Krasinski (Jim from The Office US) too
At 2019 New York Comic Con everyone got a text that there was a surprise panel with Ryan Reynolds, fist coke, first served.
16:55 The tv show Lost. Desmond was listening to it before Locke blew up the hatch!
I was so pleasantly surprised going into this movie. Absolutely loved it! Definitely in my pickmeup movie roster. Did you notice The Rock cameo?
Don't forget the Hugh Jackman cameo as well :)
The Rock is in it? Where? When? How have I not seen this? 😱
This is the type of movie where actors come together as friends. To hell w/ the copyright and cross roles/contracts or who we pi$$ off... lets just do what we love doing, working on a great movie. And it really shows in this project.
I love that the actors for the main characters also play their video game counterparts
I loved this movie. Everything about it was great.
I personally don't like it. I guess it's a "fun" movie. But I just hate the plot. I can't get over it
Guy did a really good job playing Ryan Reynolds in this movie.
I randomly decided to watch this movie on a whim and was so unexpectedly surprised. It was so good!
I love Taika Waititi even when he’s playing a unlikeable character I still love him so much as an actor 🥰
It was fun watching this movie again with you Alex. Love Reynolds. He’s awesome. 😂❤
The guy with the video clip at the beginning who got shot by Milly in the game was voiced by Hugh Jackman aka Logan from X Men, also the robber who guy killed at the beginning was voiced by The Rock
A lot of other reactors and I are with you on the love scene at the end. You are just waiting for a car or bus to take them out.
But they have plot armour, they're in a movie afterall... (Really, is there no hint anywhere about this inception-like recursion? Missed chance...)
Alex talking about playing Grand Theft Auto sounds like "Yeah I smoked once, but I didn't inhale."
That’s Taki Waititi as the Game Dev and as Cinemawins would say “Korg is always a win”
*Taika Waititi
I know, autocorrect got me
Alex the villain of the movie is Taika Waititi. He was the Director of Thor Ragnarok and Thor Love and Thunder. Plus he does the voice of Korg the rock alien from the Thor movies.
Adam Project NEEDS to be next. Ryan Reynolds is phenomenal in it
The song that plays for the emotional/kiss scenes is from Paperman. It’s a short animated film from Disney. I get emotional everytime I hear it. It’s so sweet.
I love this movie so much. I cant wait for what Shawn Levy will do with Deadpool 3
"a 55 year old that acts like a 15 year old" Actually describes Taika Watiti pretty spot on.
Weird seeing someone not recognize Taika as Antwan 😂 Love these really blind reactions
Alex... This one I was so excited & happy to see you do when it popped up on my feed! Was so fun watching it with you! lol
(Look at the shop windows' texts if you don't catch what I'm saying.)
Months later, she asked me to bring it over because she wants to watch it again. This is the first time in many years that she's made such a request.
Great reaction! I love Ryan Reynolds movies. Next up you should check him out in Hitman’s Bodyguard. He co stars with Samuel L. Jackson. Great movie.
Yesss also R.I.P.D. With Jeff Bridges 👌🏻
Chris Evans showing up was the best part!
This is such a funny Movie, just FYI The boss is Taika Waititi he is the Director of Thor Ragnarok, and Love and Thunder, also he plays Korg, one of the funniest ever
Love your enthusiasm! Keep up the great work!! 😁
Fun fact: the guy who plays Antwon is Taika Waititi and he directed Thor Ragnarok and played Korg
I love watching you watching movies I've seen and enjoyed, I'm so happy knowing others do this because first time I co-watched I thought I were creepy. 😅 Hugs from Sweden.
Fun fact about the "if you know how to, go for it". This is a game and as you've realized close to GTA. There's no buttons for kissing. So yeah
Your energy is unmatched, never stop!
17:00 yes, the song was in DEXTER.
It was also in LOST.
One of my favorite movies. Glad you had so much fun watching it. Your reactions are priceless. Check out The Adam Project, another Ryan Reynolds movie. I've watched both of these many times.
Throughout the entire scene involving the destruction of the servers, Antwan decided to leave the visual effects server perfectly intact
You’d love watching Korg and Deadpool react to the trailer to Free Guy. Have to wait till after you watch deadpool 2 before you watch it though.
18:38 - Dude made outta rocks, best buddy to Thor, named Korg. Director to Ragnarok & Love and Thunder. (Also starred with Ryan in Green Lantern, he still had black hair then)
How did she know a kiss button!?
So good with Steve's cameo completed by Hugh Jackman and The Rock's voice cameos.
I've been waiting for this!!! Free Guy is an awesome movie. However Now You See Me better be next😂
Yes, Now you see me is an absolute must watch!!
Who else thinks Alex should watch baby driver?
YESSS
The park scenes were filmed right outside my office. On the Boston waterfront on the back side of Moakley Courthouse.
A few other places in Boston are used and also some spots in Worcester. The city also had to be reproduced exactly in a 3D model for some of the shots.
44 seconds ago is insane
You must be new to youtube😂
@@ManG1aze your proof is what exactly?
@@RegenVR what? Lmao
@@ManG1aze im asking what your proof that im new is
@@RegenVR just a joke💜
This movie is like Ready Player One smashed together with The Truman Show with a Ryan Reynolds comical twist instead of Jim Carrey. Great movie and a great role for Ryan, he killed it.
19:19 Bubble gum ice cream is delicious. 🖕
I literally went to comment this same time stamp because it was so perfect and you did four hours ago and this isn’t even a new video
