    "Everywhere 😥"

@@4bidn1 I play both M&K and controller, but interchangeably depending on my mood. Dude, the aiming is so borked for both. Your best bet with controller is to keep the enemy at a distance or pull out the pistol in a last ditch effort (for casual players, not people who play Halo every day) when enemies are close. Oh, and you rely on small movements from your feet more than your camera when aiming. But that means a M&K player just has to kinda....jump everywhere and it'll spell your doom lol. Controller users' ability to control vertical aiming is pretty bad compared to past Halo's. On M&K there's just no forgiveness with aiming, so, that kinda forces me into a sweaty gamer mode to be half decent. Either option isn't great imo.

Me as a mouse and keyboard player for 30 years will speak for all us mouse and keyboard players.
We understand controller players need aim assist to play a FPS game and let alone vs a player like me on mouse and keyboard I use to be a console controller player.
But when you have us on mouse and keyboard that is really good at what we do and are skill level and we lose 95% of the gun fights that should say something about how busted aim assist is now days with Crossplay.
We need to react to everything on the fly in a split second why we muti task with the mouse and keyboard all at the same time right hand aims, tracks and turns us left hand works the keyboard like a piano.
Pretend like you are typing but you can only can use your left hand and you can type 500 words a minute that's what we are doing not looking at the keyboard at all.
Why we aim and track there is so much more then having a giant desk and moving are arm back and forth up down side to side diagonal it's not that simple as controller players think it is if it was then there will be more mouse and keyboard players then there is controller players but there is not over 3 billion consoles controller players and what maybe 100k mouse and keyboard players and 90% of the players on PC are using a controller so they don't count.
But all my lobbies are controller players so yeah not fair for me doing all the work for a kill my self and I get killed by someone that just started playing video games they can beat me with little to no effort on there part because of the overpowered aim assist then it becomes like a cheat 0% reaction time and rotational aim assist witch it is soft aimbot that is what soft aimbot is all you controller players you can hook a mouse and keyboard up just like us on PC can hook a controller up no excuses give it a try and see out it turns out for you.
Controllers have 2 types of aim assist it's the bot build into the controller that aims and tracks players BUT it has bullet magnetism two it will be more fair if controllers did not have bullet magnetism you guys can keep your rotational aim assist take out bullet magnetism that is the true killer for controllers us on Mouse and Keyboard will not get a single hit marker unless the center dot on the crosshair is on the enemy but you guys can get hit marker and the center dot is far from touching the enemy facts.
      How does bullet magnetism work?
Loosely speaking, Bullet Magnetism is a game mechanic that allows a shooter to be off-target by a set number of degrees and still have a shot register as a hit. When a round is fired, instead of it going where the shooter was aiming, it instead travels off-axis to impact the target.
Playing a video game using mouse and keyboard is not like using TH-cam or Google.
I never cared or even thought about Controller in years and the aim assist until Crossplay.
Crossplay ruined gaming for us mouse and keyboard players it really feels like a cheat look even Shroud said something about aim assist he said what I say Controllers vs Mouse and Keyboard is like night and day 1000% different is every whay and they should not be mixed together.
What killed gaming for me is Crossplay and the soft aimbot that is aim assist it 100% ruined competitive gaming for us mouse and keyboard players and it is 100% cheating.
I have been gaming from the start of video games and got into PC gaming 30 years ago and never played on the console and the controller again nothing but mouse and keyboard no matter what game I played so I got really good 1 of the best to do it I'm still really good.
My flicks and snaps are on another level and when I'm on fire for get about it you will not beat me anyone.
it feels like I have around 500k games or more in my gaming life under my belt I really can't put a number on it I played or tried just about them all and if it was a FPS game I played it or tried it trust that.
Just don't pin me on mouse and keyboard vs the world on controllers aim assist no 1 plays on mouse and keyboard anymore game dev's are building the games for controllers and porting them to mouse and keyboard try to fly in Warzone with a mouse and keyboard none of us M&K players do it's not built for mouse and keyboard facts it's all controller players.
Now go play Battlefield 1942 and fly the DC Mod was the best it's build for mouse and keyboard and not controller.
Aim assist when it is this overpowered is in no matter in what way, shape, or form you look at it Aim Assist is a crutch and training wheels and it carries every player to a win or ranked nothing more.
Controller Players love to defend Aim Assist "because it gives you skill" no it doesn't. It's a crutch plain and simple.
So all these tournaments do you see any mouse and keyboard players no they are a dying breed mouse and keyboard players we are the players built different well us really good players all you controller players are built the same aim assist is what makes you.
And all controller players say switch why should I change to controller when I been gaming on mouse and keyboard 30 years I like having my own set of skills at aiming, tracking, flicking, snapping and everything I do on the mouse and that is just some of the mouse skills using a keyboard is a different set of skills on the left hand I take pride in my kills when it is a insane kill but nothing new for me I been doing it 30 years.
You controller players hook a mouse and keyboard up to your console or PC and see for your self just how much different the 2 inputs really are it is like night and day 1000% different in everyway and should not be mixed together at all let alone in a competitive First Person Shooters.
I'm working for a kill why the 0% reaction time and rotational aim assist witch it really is soft aimbot does the work for you.
How can anyone say different you will try.
There is my 2cents on the matter.

They were very informative and really put into perspective the differences between MCC and Infinite, and also explaned why I felt so offput by Infinite's aiming since I last played in December. I played it again recently and still felt like something was off.
This series is great and I hope to see more of it in the future. You deserve to have a bigger spotlight within the halo community.

One thing you haven't mentioned is how important the lowered crosshair is to the feel of Halo. Bungie figured out how much better it was in 2004 and never looked back, and now you see most other studios also lowering the reticle (Ubisoft, Gearbox, Crytek, Obsidian, Arkane, etc.). Yet 343 moved it up in 2015, and Halo hasn't felt right since.

Unless this is one of those situations where a part of the game was slapped toghter by a revolving door of inexperienced contract workers, which with what we know about infinite's development is quite likley, whoever made this change really doesnt know what they are doing in terms of player feedback (and by that I mean what the game tells you). If im understanding correctly, the way its done in infinite sucks because it takes away vital information the player needs and makes headshots less consistent. MCC has all these features and it hasn't turned into a hellscape where PC players make playign on controler impossible, its far from a perfect balance but it isnt apocalyptic, and being overly scared of that outcome is the only other reason I can think of that 343 would make this change.

  • @darkphoenix2
    @darkphoenix2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

You put an impressive amount of work into this, I respect that. I felt like things in Infinite worked pretty well for the most part. It plays smooth, like every Halo does, but the very granular, under the hood stuff needed work. There are several weapons that feel like they demand an unreasonable degree of accuracy, and it results in weapons like the Sidekick encouraging you to spam your entire magazine into someone as fast as possible instead of worrying too much about accuracy.
I don't know if there was a deliberate effort to change things from Halo 5, but the game obviously had a noticeable amount of bullet magnetism, and a lot of Infinite was designed to basically undo Halo 5 design choices. Maybe a lot of the aiming problems were motivated by 343 trying to move away from the way Halo 5 felt. My only issue with that is that Halo 5 felt really good. Sure, maybe the sniper rifle was too easy to use...but this stuff is really hard to figure out. I mean, I absolutely suck ass with the H5 Sniper Rifle, but when I was playing Infinite, that Sniper Rifle felt much better.

I pray to the heavens that whoever is in charge of the next game watches ALL of this and understands what makes Halo feel like Halo. • @struggler1699
    @struggler1699 2 ปีที่แล้ว +28

I don't mind them lowering the magnatism but the "lock on effect (bubble)" or stickyness is horrible in infinite. That is why it feels so awkward to reaquire targets. Once your reticle slightly slips of the target your aim is thrown all over the place.
I don't get why the had to change the feel of the game so much. Halo 5s vehicle combat and aim assist feels more halo than infinite. It's like it was designed for pc.

13:03 , in the technical preview 2 outcomes blog they give the aim assist cone angles VK78 Commando: 5.5 degrees BR75: 5.75 degrees . I don't think that season 2 had a BR Buff. The complaints about "losing aim assist" while the enemy is no shields or while jumping is due to the decreased aim assist bubble around an enemy as you showed in your previous video, its not a glitch. Players just arent used to that difference compared to previous halos. Would be interesting if you could test out what 343 changed with the recent precision weapon headshot buff in the drop pod 2 patch notes. 343 referenced the sidekick and stalker as weapons that would headshot better, although they said all precision weapons would be affected. After your video I guess I have 3 theories: they increased the head hitbox, they increased the projectile size, or they changed something with headshot prioritization

  • @theTacticToad

I know many Halo fans who say the game doesn’t feel right and we’ve stopped playing for now 6 months + bc no matter the hrs we spent adjusting our settings it still doesn’t feel “normal” or normal to Halo at least. Great work covering a really important issue! Somehow send this series directly to 343, it needs there attention and they need to address it to get fans back. Status? First contact. Report? Liking what I'm seeing. I'm a mechanics driven player at heart, and while I knew that Red Reticle had a lot of importance behind it, my primary reasoning against returning it was simply: "If it doesn't carry it's previous mechanical weight, then it should remain disabled."
Essentially, it needs to have it's proper function. A lot of the arguments for it returning that I've heard have been rather surface level and pretty unconvincing. Usually related to concepts of personal familiarity and or confidence granted by said red reticle... Which, sure, I get that. We all have our placebos that make us somehow play better. However it was really rare for me to encounter players who wanted Red Reticle back for the right reasons. Foundational reasons. Mechanical reasons. Extending beyond a player's own mental bubble and affecting all players in equal measure. THAT is what's important to me with mechanics like this one.
Definitely gonna check out the rest of your series. You have my attention, and my sub. For now.
JK, I don't unsub from just about anyone unless they suddenly go from generally fun or intriguing topics to... Politics... How tiresome. Pretty sure I don't have to worry about that here. =P

I remember one of the first 5 or so games of Guardians I played, I got a nasty headshot on a player moving fast through the air. I recorded it in theater and noticed the insane magnetism! I thought it was overkill.
But after a while, it almost seemed to disappear. I had saved a couple instances where I had red reticle, but shots were flying by if I wasn’t aiming directly over the hurtbox. Is there any info on how it gets translated online? Such as player proximity to server, online connection etc. It felt VERY inconsistent. In halo and Overwatch, I’d have games where I’m untouchable, 10-1 KD then I’d have games where I can barely touch my opponent. The inconsistency is why I left Halo 5 as early as I did.

14:34 - I like this comment about hurting mnk players. The difference between the Striker Sidekick and mk50 feels much more significant on mouse than on controller, partly because of better headshot prioritization IMHO. Basically the Striker feels like a godlike upgrade on mnk - and actually thus feels balanced across inputs, as opposed to the mk50 which feels much worse to use on mnk than on controller.
Additionally the red reticle difference on all precision weapons really hurts a lot. Without aim assist and against Infinite's high strafe acceleration, mnk has to rely more on trigger discipline. For example, timing the BR bursts well based on each moment you get back on target vs shooting the air for nothing. Humans can respond much faster to something simple like color rather than *how centered a small target is on a poorly-designed crosshair*, so it feels horrible trying to with a precision weapon strafe fight on mnk without RR. The visual element would be so crucial in improving your accuracy with practice yet it's just not there at all. MNK gets shafted.
If RR was deemed insignificant enough that it was ok to remove for the purpose of mitigating hacking, then why not remove it for the same weapons for console as well? Clearly if they insist on keeping it on console, it is a very important feature with serious value! It's just blatant/egregious disregard for balance.
I'm optimistic about what you said concerning leaving mnk behind and really hope to see more analysis directed toward that input soon.

I found the footage of the Stalker Rifle and the Shock Rifle a little strange. I'd appreciate if you have any insights into it.
When I use the Stalker Rifle with mouse, even in the Academy - it doesn't hit if the target isn't dead-centre. That is, right in the middle of the 4 arrows. It feels like it has no autoaim at all.
When I use the Shock Rifle, however, even in the Academy - it usually hits when I place the large circle over the head. It feels like the autoaim is there but isn't always behaving correctly.
    The Sidekick looks off, too,
when I use it, it only really hits in the centre, and the outer reticule has no use, but in the footage at the end, it seems that the inner reticule is the one that has no use.

It was already annoying to me that in halo 5 bullet magnetism and aim assist were more than noticeable (and yes I now classic games had it but it wasn't as bad as going into halo 5’s campaign and not being able to shoot a jackals hand because the game was pulling my shots twords the head and hitting it's shield)
But it was infuriating to go from ridiculous aim assist to a weak inconsistent mess...

There’s an exploit in Halo 2 where you can shoot the BR for one shot by doing the button combo (Y, Y) RIGHT after shooting a single burst and it interrupts the complete 3 burst. It’s pretty sick once you get the timing down.

    • @user-yv3mx2hl1l
      @user-yv3mx2hl1l 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Its not an exploit as it has no purpose and it can be done in every game. Firing a single br shot can be done by canceling the burst through melee, switch weapons, grenade throw, reloading and probably equipment/ability use

You're not the only one feeling that way. Been playing for 15 years and this is the first Halo that I've struggled with.
It's such a night and day difference when you boot up Reach and compare it to Infinite. Even though the game "feels" slower, everything works for the most part. I'm not getting shot through walls, I'm not shooting people through walls, I don't get headshots when I clearly shot their kneecap. No blank melees, etc etc. It seems way more consistent and I don't know how they went backwards.

I came in search of answers, and I have found them. I always wondered why hitting my fucking target in this game was ridiculously harder than any other Halo game. I couldn't use the shock rifle to save my life, and wondered why no matter where the reticle was on the target, I never landed my shots. Well I have my answer. Why did the commando suck ass when shooting at a person with cracked shields? It just stopped working in favor of the player you're shooting at I guess. So on and so forth. This game is FORCING you to be HIGHLY skilled. This game is supposed to have a casual experience in the social games, and ranked for those who want competitive play. Instead, they seemingly made BR starts PERMANENT in regular unranked team slayer. They really seem to not give a shit about the core community anymore.

I swear this games needs a whole UI and aiming rework. Weapons like the Commando and Shock Rifle especially feel downright punishing to use and inconsistent due to the misleading reticle and changes to AA
Given how AA is basically shrink wrapped to the enemy and you're either locked in the enemy or flying off them, it just makes the gunplay feel awful at times.

  • @luvair6765

What made Halo great was its balance between strategy and the ability to aim. Infinite is 90% aim and 10% strategy, which favors genetically gifted individuals. H2 and H3 seemed to be 50/50, you could not be the best aim and still be competitive. The reality is aiming has much to do with your genetics, just like sports. Halo was so fun because it was not incredibly hard to pick up. There was a skill gap obviously between the pros and ams, but it had a good balance. Coming from H5 with weapons and aiming felt pretty balanced, I still missed H2/H3 aiming, but infinite just took it even further. Years of muscle memory out the window, it is like learning a brand new game, but the aiming is just frustrating. The biggest downfall of the game, when that is the most important thing to get right.

Controller players on PC get all the disadvantages of KBM in terms of no red dot, not red reticle, and no headshot prioritization. Meanwhile console DOES get red reticle. Console literally has the advantage. The sad thing is, I still average 60% accuracy, and in terms of just my BR kills, my headshot accuracy is at least 85-90%. Imagine if I had red reticle, headshot prioritization, and red dot. Would be getting like 80% accuracy and 100% headshots. This all explains why I felt like I had to shoot over the head, and I wasn't imagining it. I'm so glad the Orlando HCS event will be on console. I'm going to dumpster everyone! XD

  • @manicpanic9
    @manicpanic9 2 ปีที่แล้ว

interesting stuff, that must have taken a lot of work! I'm not sure why it's such a bad thing though - I think precision weapons are pretty damn strong already in infinite. Wouldnt the commando be stupid good if you got headshot prioritisation after all that bloom while body shooting to break shields?
also hot tip for the reticle stuff you can just change the opacity and thickness in the settings if it's distracting
I think the real issue is how to make PC mnk closer to controller for ranked - it feels like some weapons like the BR are too easy on controller but single shot precision weapons like the pistol are too easy on mouse.
