"I believe this statue was made out of plaster, not stone, because it was nearly life size and fairly easy to lift. Most statues are made from plaster."

Nice work Victoria. You might consider obtaining HydroCal plaster in the future as it is smoother and stronger than the wall patching plasters. And the fine sanding is normally done with a grit between 400 and in some cases even 1000 grit.
    Congratulations on some fine work!

Beautiful work! If I may, I’d like to make a suggestion. I restored two 2’ foot tall angels and I found that applying the filler with my finger worked great as using my finger (dipped my finger in water helped the the filler stay on the statue and not on me) lol. made the application much smoother and filled the holes nicely. ( you can wear gloves if you prefer. Also I found that by doing it this way saved a lot of time sanding. Keep up the amazing work and the best to you. Peace and light. 🌺

Very nice work. I can tell that you love what you do. What product are you using to fill in the cracks? I like the fact that it’s in a tube, and can be squeezed out when you need it rather than mixed in a batch and blobbed onto a palette where a lot would be wasted.

I found a 4ft Saint Theresa Daprato statue that was left behind in a property that we purchased. All over the statue She has what I think is splatter from black spray paint & her original paint is completely faded. Could you please tell me if there is a way to find out where or how to match up the proper paint colors & the proper shades so she can be restored?? I think it's a old statue

Spending sometime in hobby lobby is best. That’s where I purchased all my paint

I'm curious by the way . Where did you get this statue ? Did you redo it for someone specifically , or for yourself ? You've taken all the necessary prep work with plenty of time to dry in-between steps . It's alot of prep work to do , but I'm sure all your efforts will make this piece of art last ! . . 🙏✝️😔

Check Aves studios for clays and other materials to repair and or sculpt parts of a statue [not a plug]; they re water soluble ["Fix It" brand name] and have a long set time which allows you to work longer
