Great video Mike. I was waiting for you to update this story. I live in SC & you give more info than the authorities did here. More has happened since this video was uploaded. The father admitted his shooting was a suicide attempt so that his other son can get the insurance money. He turned his self in, out on bond now. Another man was arrested for helping him. Plus, they reopened the dead housekeeper case as well. No word of him stepping foot in a rehab center either. These folks are shady as hell. I believe he has something to do with wife & son murders. Keep doing what you do, you're very good at it.

Whether or not he pulled the trigger on his own wife and kid or paid someone else to do it...he's in it up to his beady eyeballs. They're pretty quiet about the oldest son, too. Gonna be some sick stuff that comes out of this one.
I'll bet the life insurance would make a bit of a dent in the legal fees or the restitution due his former law firm. If they knew about his scheme at the firm, that would have been a motive to get his hands on some cash.
I wonder if the Dad was molesting him and was getting blackmailed for it. Then the wife and son found out. Yes, I know, this is complete conjecture. But this is youtube comments, it's what we do.
If this lawyer is sloppy enough to slash his own “run-flat” tires and leave a paper trail of money he stole, i bet he is also dumb enough to have suspicious text messages or phone calls the days leading up to his wife and son’s murders.
Unless he did it all himself. Even smart people do stupid shit when their secrets are in danger of being revealed and they feel cornered. He was a man from an old powerful family with a reputation to protect. In business and the law, a person's reputation is everything.
He thought they’d take his word for it and not investigate him so he’s probably left a trail. If it was just some poor dude with a drug habit whose family got shot, he’d already be tried and convicted.

Great work as always, Mike. I can't wait for part 3. *cough* Alex is arrested for hiring a hitman and staging an attack *cough*
This story has seriously become as good as any plot I’ve seen in a movie. I’m excited to watch as more is uncovered. Not to say that the murders are at all anything to be excited about, but to see how deep this rabbit hole goes in real time as we track the motives and suspects. Hunt a Killer IRL. 😅
Mike you're a ROCKSTAR!!!!🌼😍 When I heard the news I instantly thought of you and wished you'd do an update on the weird lawyer dynasty. And here we go. I had a really shitty week, but you've made me feel so much better. 💗 Thank you so much
So he kills the son, that stops the legal fees for his boat murder case. Kills the wife, that stops the financial investigation. Uses his now dead father as his alibi. Then slashes his tire for the "fix" and gets "grazed" in a gun shot. Yup, the husband did it ALLEGEDLY!
You are ignoring evidence that would completely destroy your theory. Seriously like come on. You are no better than bad cops that put away innocent people
@Apple Tart. When you have that kind of money and old money at that, it isn't surprising when you see this happen. Sweeping things under the rug and getting rid of loose ends. I would be honestly surprised if we didn't find out he hired someone to kill his wife and son and give him that superficial head wound. Let's see how this plays out though. I am with you though with what seems to be the most logical explanation.
I know someone who is a lawyer in that area. Their law firm would almost always settle cases in which PMPED was involved. However, the checks would be signed and cashed by Alex which is not standard practice. There is a lot more to this case based on the information I have been told. Crazy story for sure.
And now we hear from the family and Alex himself admit no money went to the housekeepers family, Alex stole it. Told the family to sue him knowing he could get the money.
I don’t know what’s more upsetting. Murdaugh saying he was changing a tyre (too posh, he would call AA)or someone trying to shoot him 7 times and missing.
In the southern US, the wealthy just have nicer work clothes and newer tractors. I remember hearing about a farmers widow finding out that there were millions in her dead husbands account, while he had her living for decades like they were dirt poor! A friend who worked at a mall jewellery store had waited on her, and he was gob smacked by how much she bought whilst telling him her story. >> Tom's wife
Thank you Mike for adding Mandy Matney's name in the description! She's such a thorough journalist and one I had never heard of. She is genuinely right at the heart of this and a local, she has been involved in the case before this double homicide. She's now got a podcast of the case as she investigates. Only listened to the first one so far (the rest I'm am absolutely going to listen to) but she is so rigorous in her attempts to uncover information and so articulate. She really should be a bigger name in the journalistic world. This is absolutely sounding like some crazy TV drama. While we don't know why the lives were lost included in this case (both the double homicide potentially connected deaths) 5 people in total have now lost their lives and we do have to remember that 3 people outside of the family plus the two family members have died, no matter how much it feels like some BBC 6-epi drama it is still devastating and my heart goes out to those that are grieving the loss of a loved one. If Alex is in no way involved in, at the very least the, deaths of his wife and son I will be genuinely shocked, even if he wasn't the one that physically pulled the trigger.
I wonder if Mike will do a part 3 now Alex M has been found guilty of the murders? I’d love to hear his take on the trial, particularly the testimony of the accused.
I’m stuck on something. The 911 call from father Alex. He said that his “wife and child have been shot badly”. Later in the call he says “I’ve been up to it now, and it’s bad”, explaining that he just got close to them and can now see them properly and the horror that has occurred. The 911 operator asks If they are breathing. She asks this as he is now close enough to see their bodies and answer this question. The father says they are on the ground at the kennels. The 911 operator asks “and did you hear anything or did you come home and find them?”. Alex Murdaugh answers “No Ma’am I’ve been gone, I just got back”. So. If Alex Murdaugh, by his own immediate account just minutes after it happened, says that he 1. Didn’t hear anything 2. Was gone and came home and found them 3. Was not close to them physically when he first called 911 4. Didn’t get close to their bodies until he was on the phone with 911 5. That was the first time he could see how bad it was, and that they weren’t breathing and 6. It was 10pm at night and they were outside at the kennels How did he know they were both shot badly when he first called 911? How did he know they were shot at all? All that blood, they could easily have been stabbed, bashed, bludgeoned, attacked by an axe or some other terrible thing. But while standing too far away to even know if they were dead or alive, to even see how many injuries they had (it wasn’t until halfway through the 911 call he got close enough and learned it was ‘bad’) in the dark, outside, he somehow already knew they were both shot, and badly when he first made the call? Have they got Mickey Mouse police officers there? I’m just an idiot with an internet connection and can see that doesn’t add up.
I think you misunderstood him. When Alex stated that he had been "up to it" he meant that he had attempted life saving measures/CPR. He had tried to help them. As far as seeing gunshot wounds, some you can't see, some are quite obvious and others... well, who knows as they are all different.
@@user-gj1me4mf5c I misunderstood? Look I’ll happily be corrected but I’ve never heard of “being up to it, it’s really bad” meaning “I am giving them CPR and life saving measures”. Can you explain further?

Seems like an extremely entitled family.. as if Alex was never denied anything and the attitude Alex developed trickled down to his children exponentially. I honestly think this family, namely Alex were so used to "the good ol'boy" lifestyle that they couldn't see clearly through their sense of entitlement.
Absolutely!! Old, rich, Southern family. Definitely much entitlement from these people all over here in South Carolina and I'm sure our neighboring States as well.

And if he can plot and plan his own murder for insurance It’s plausible that he would have no qualms about plotting and planning someone else’s murder

It’s actually crazy when you realize, all you need is money to have power it’s so scary how these people got away with it for so long.
Definitely. Now their house of cards fell at last, but money can almost buy you anything. Pair that with fame and power and nothing can stop you. If someone leaked the same documents that Trump did we would be in prison for life, but he gets off so easy.
Same with let’s say OJ. Caitlyn Jenner got off clean after KILLING someone. It’s all about money and fame.

So. If Alex Murdaugh, by his own immediate account just minutes after it happened, says that he
1. Didn’t hear anything
2. Was gone and came home and found them
3. Was not close to them physically when he first called 911
4. Didn’t get close to their bodies until he was on the phone with 911
5. That was the first time he could see how bad it was, and that they weren’t breathing and 6. It was 10pm at night and they were outside at the kennels
How did he know they were both shot badly when he first called 911?
How did he know they were shot at all? All that blood, they could easily have been stabbed, bashed, bludgeoned, attacked by an axe or some other terrible thing.
But while standing too far away to even know if they were dead or alive, to even see how many injuries they had (it wasn’t until halfway through the 911 call he got close enough and learned it was ‘bad’) in the dark, outside, he somehow already knew they were both shot, and badly when he first made the call?
Have they got Mickey Mouse police officers there? I’m just an idiot with an internet connection and can see that doesn’t add up.
You caught the bad guy Scooby Doo!
I think you misunderstood him. When Alex stated that he had been "up to it" he meant that he had attempted life saving measures/CPR. He had tried to help them.
As far as seeing gunshot wounds, some you can't see, some are quite obvious and others... well, who knows as they are all different.
