To be honest. Everyone of the people on the boat we're drunk really drunk they all chose to ride with Paul. At any time they could have made their own choices. Not to mention his behavior had happened many times before. Not crashing but being a sloppy out of control drunk. Why would any of them ride on the boat to begin with.

@@j_rainsgoat3929 You wrote exactly what I was thinking since this horrific crash happened. Paul did not point a gun at the other"kids", all voluntarily took the boot ride not only once but twice being aware of the alcohol consumption and Paul's previous irrational behavior when under the influence. If they would have crashed into another boot and somebody on this boot had been killed, I believe they all should have been prosecuted.

The kids on the boat were over 18 and drunk. They made that choice to get on that boat. They could have called someone to pick them up or knocked Paul out. I mean according to all Paul's friends they new how he got when he drank but they all still enjoyed partying and living it up with him. Paul had the money to show them a good time of course they would stick around. Stupid choices get you bad consequences.

One thing that stands out is how influential the family was in the area spanning over decades; if the wife & son were genuinely murdered by some unknown individual, the police would stop at nothing to solve the case. There'd be mountains of evidence & leads, and there'd be a task force to speak with the media & follow up on every clue ; but here they "investigated" in a very haphazard manner, told the media there was no risk to the public from the shooter/s & seemed okay with burying the case. There wasn't any real interest in the case until it got big enough in the media to warrant another look at it by LE; but if that interest hadn't been there this case probably would never have made it into a courtroom. This family have been able to avoid the consequences of their actions for so long, they seem to believe they are untouchable, and after watching the Netflix series abt the family it's pretty clear that lying is just another thing they mastered during their privileged lives.

Sorry, no " buyer" of AM's BS here. And NO way he could have meticulously and consistently done all his money deals with such craftiness. Keeping faux accts., cooking the books more or less, all in pvt. Further, with such a big Firm, and his thenbest friend for yrs from childhood through law school and until the day AM was uncovered, you can bet your bipp6 everybody would have known he was " the addict." Hockeypuck. Overblown as a " convenience" trying to make it like AM was in lala land and was out to lunch the night if the murders.

No matter what happened, even if illegal all the uncles and granddad, aunties, and grandmas petted them, paid off the law and victims, or intimidated them, so that each subsequent younger generation was protected from any consequences and responsibilities, learning nothing, having no values, no empathy and after awhile you get people like Alex, Buster, and Paul. Especially Paul who John Marvin describes as flawless, but whose friends found to be hurtful, dangerous, and a drunken bully who was frightening and ultimately killed one, with no grief nor remorse. Paul pushed his old man’s last button with the boat crash, bringing down the rotten house and setting the stage for his father’s downfall. Paul and his mother, who was taking action that would have exposed Alex and his decades long misconduct, thievery, lying, manipulation, and corruption. In a way Maggie and Paul got exactly what they should have expected, a monster, just like them. They were cursed by incompetence and a lack of morals in the adults in their lives.

With regards to John M's testimony yesterday, in the below youtube clip of his entire testimony, at the 1:08 mark Griffin starts asking about SLED searching the house and asked John if he was informed of any items seized. John replies he was told they found a coat but Owens would not tell him anything further and at 1:09 specifically states "they didn't tell me what kind of coat" and offers to identify it. At 1:10 he states Owens told him he could not or would not show him the coat. Griffin then asks him if sometime later John was asked to identify a blue raincoat. Griffin then asks John if he knew where the raincoat was seized from, and John replies "I knew where it was seized from because he (sic Owens) had already told me." Which version is it--Owens told him simply they found a coat with no description or Owens told him they found a blue raincoat? As if only ONE COAT exists in that gigantic house?
(PS Amazing how the killers didn't want to shoot Alex, and oh by the way why he shaved his body, was likely because oxy only survives in blood a short time 6-18 hours but lives on in hair 90 days and maybe because the head of SLED received a text to get a search warrant for Alex's hair and he got tipped off? He shaved EVERYTHING but amazingly, after 90 days never shaved himself again. A great analogy is when you get your hair dyed and it's been a month and your first inch is gray but the distal part of the hair strand still has color on it.

He helped recover Maggie s phone (no tears then) which AM was so keen to show he’d called to establish his alibi. But he didn’t help unlock Paul’s phone, though the code was easy (Paul’s DOB). He flew to the Bahamas with Alex after his financial crimes were uncovered, probably to hide money. Went to Las Vegas with Buster. Took guns out of Moselle after the killings (no tears then)

The way they talk about Paul, Buster, and Alex leaving things everywhere; mainly Paul. They make it seem like it's something normal or something funny or cute. In reality it's because they had so much money that they didn't care about anything, everything was disposable to them. Nothing had sentimental value to them because if you have something you really care about, cherish, or you worked hard to buy something you are not going to leave it just anywhere; all the time, every time. That's really sad. Just goes to tell you a lot. That's why they were spoiled brats and that's why Alex annihilated his family, they were disposable to him.

Trying to lead jury to believe someone else could have had the opportunity. Also convenient the gun killing Maggie hasn't been recovered but the ammo was described to match Paul's missing rifle.

I think they are worried about what Alex will help string them up for of they don't cover up this crime as much as possible. They are covering for Alex like they are trying to save their own skin. I hope the police look into them. There is clear evidence that they are in on some of Alec's crimes. I see no sign that they feel Alec every did anything wrong. That's pretty messed up. The difference between this man’s reaction and Alec’s reaction in the police van in what he claimed at the time was minutes after finding the bodies only a few feet away from where they sat is enough to convict him to my mind. Alec never acted the way a shocked person would-he was orderly in his presentation punctuated with fake crying (wiping away tears that weren’t there), giving irrelevant details about sunflowers (a common thing for guilty people), no confusion, no wanting to know who did it. His brother shows how grieving people act.
Everyone keeps saying what a good marriage Alex had but they were separated. She was at the beach house and they were fighting about selling it. Alex wanted more money. He always wanted more money (sufficient motive, I should think.) when Alex called her and told her to meet him at the kennels, she was surprised and called her sister on the way saying that something fishy was going on with Alex.
His cold manipulation within sight of the blasted bodies, after showering and trying to convince the housekeeper that he was at the house longer than he was, are other signs of his guilt.

I wonder if he lost all loyalty toward Alex after what he did to his friends and co-workers. Maybe he would have been a detriment to the defense's case. Alex's co-workers that were not related to him had nothing good to say about him.

Something I've noticed after watching John Marvin and Buster (Richard Alexander) Murdaugh's testimonies is that they both seem 'practiced', the same way a politician would be. Mannerisms, tone of voice, hand gestures, choice of words.... the men in the Murdaugh family conditioned themselves to appear affable, approachable, and honest. Buster's soft tone when he interjects "That's right" throughout his testimony shows he was trained in this way, in my opinion. We do know that Buster was removed from his university for plagiarism and I'm sure this gentleman sells a lot of equipment with his affability.

Idk the ordering process & time frame for a headstone. But I do agree BY NOW THERE SHOULD BE ONE. It’s a family of lawyers they’re def on a different level of snake then the norm fam. But I also don’t know any “normal” families. There was others who had motive, however none of them were actually going to carry something like that out. More so on Paul, Maggie was just an innocent bystander. Only Alex had the true motive for them no longer being here & it serving an actual purpose for him. For Paul it’s money costing for his trial & the lawsuits they were facing. Maggie it had to have been financial gain, her life insurance & after everything coming out about his stealing she was more than likely going to divorce him, leave him by himself(which he couldn’t take I’m sure)& she would end up w/whatever was left when they divorced.
