  • Trey Zwicker lived in Louisville in 2012. When something happened to him the investigation began, and over time both Trey Zwicker's stepfather, Josh Gouker, and his stepbrother, Josh Young, would claim responsibility. But were they covering for each other, and what really happened to Trey Zwicker?

I mean to be fair in the context of the plea deal, innocent people ask for them all the time haha, the legal system eats people alive and a shit ton of people ask for plea deals instead of facing a long drawn out expensive court case, do some jail time and accept a plea even if they're innocent
Our system is kind of fucked, it's your only option unless you're rich

@@KaladinVegapunk finally I've come across someone in these comment sections with both common sense AND empathy. The justice system is fucked up and, by design, incredibly convoluted and inconsistent. As are people. I'm not saying whether or not this guy was innocent, I'm not qualified to do so. But I think in a lot of arm chair detectives don't take all the inner machinations of our justice system into account.

You just got suckered by Gouker. Trust me friend, I can read my peers. Besides which, you don't get to play around with the court system - and people's lives - conveniently after his son is off the hook. He hasn't demonstrated a lick of honor in his entire life. He didn't suddenly pick it up. Both those shits were in on this. They talked about it ahead of time, though likely in general rather than planning the actual event. He was so concerned about his son, yet goes out of his way to impede the investigation into the death of his stepson. While it is natural and honorable to want to protect your children, Gouker demonstrates a clear lack of empathy for Trey's death, whilst simultaneously playing the "good dad protector" card with his violent son Josh Young. Yeah no bud, you don't get to claim any kind of honor when you're attempting to obfuscate the murder of a child.
If he didn't do it personally, Gouker was either present, or ideologically responsible. You don't take the fall for your murderous son, you show him how to take responsibility and strive get him help. No parent worth any amount of respect facilitates their son's foul actions. This wasn't a case of an accidental death, this was clear intent to severely injure and kill someone. And Gouker still worked to muddy the waters. He's as guilty as his son. At this point, it doesn't even matter if one of them was on the other side of the planet when the other one bludgeoned Trey and left him to die - they've both shown contempt for the justice system, and an utter lack of respect for human life. They've toyed with their testimonies like they're playing a game, while Trey rots in the ground for what? Minor offenses? Purposes of revenge? Maybe no other reason than to satisfy violent urges?
Throw them both in there for life.

Areed! I know he's a career criminal but I believe it when he says he thought if he just said he did it.. it would all go away for his son. I believe that Dad was gonna take the blame for his son since Dad knew what it was like to be in Prison/Jail and wanted better for his son. Truth is that Josh Young seemed to be headed down the same path as Dad and *EVEN IF* it woulda worked out the way Dad *WANTED IT TO* ... Seems that Josh Young woulda stayed true to the course and continued where his dad left off. In other words, the kid woulda ended up doing Prison time regardless of what Dad did trying to cover for him.
      (Hope that makes sense)
And I say that just cause Josh Young only knows his dad in prison and to Josh doing Jail/Prison time is a completely normal situation that happens in life. Maybe I'm wrong but when kids are raised in that atmosphere, they end up living that life cause *IT'S NORMAL.* And we will never know now cause he's serving time for Murder now.

And that is where the trouble lies. A father who was aware of his son's difficulties would protect him by taking him to the police and turning him in. It was NOT brave for him to take the blame for the kill when his son was clearly on a downward spiral and responsible for taking the life of a child. The responsible, moral and loving thing to do was to hold the child responsible and get him the help he needed. I am not sure where society and groups of people in society get to believe that protecting a killer in the family or friendship circle is the right thing to do - it is clearly very wrong on all levels.

Idiot he took the blame and tbh so he should have but he must feel a proper dick now cause his son has thrown his life away anyway!! 🙈 sad ☹️ I feel so sorry for the mother and father of the boy killed 💔 horrible way to go he may have still been conscious and in pain in that ditch! 😰😭😭 RIP little lad 💙

Man, what REALLY made me sick was the sickening pride he displayed after the reporter said; ”People say that when you took the blame it was the only decent thing you've ever done in the your life”!! Yeah right, he KNEW his 15 yr old son bludgeoned his 14 yr old step-son to death w/ a baseball bat who definitely didn't seem remorseful, yet he took the fall, enabling his severely disturbed, violent, psychotic murdering teenage son to go back out into society. to continue to terrorize & most likely murder again!! What was he gonna do from prison to keep him out of more trouble?

I think the dad encouraged the son to do it. When the son was asked if his dad put him up to it he said “absolutely not. If anything, he would have instructed me to never do that”. Statement analysis would have several red flags with this; its a yes or no answer but he feels the need to qualify and convince. The dad’s attitude in court when his son is on trial is very flippant, and his body and verbal language (to me) suggests that he is NOT the killer but is just taking the blame.

I live in Louisville. This happened within miles of where I grew up. It was devastating and an absolute shit show. Young was on the news all the time noticeably on drugs, acting a fool, getting arrested, and never making any sense when he spoke. The blame was constantly shifting back and forth between him and the father. Literally, him on the news confessing to doing it and bragging that there was nothing they could do about it now because he had been acquitted. It went back and forth so often, you couldn't have kept count. I think that was the plan the whole time. But they were dumb to think he'd be released from prison as soon as Young confessed to acting alone. It's obvious they both did it....just don't know if they were together during the killing or Gouker went to do other things for an alibi while Young actually killed Trey. Also, maybe not so much in Louisville, but the rest of Kentucky does live up to all the crazy clichés. We DO wear shoes, but the cousin thing is 100% real. If you're not in cahoots with your cousin, you know someone that is! It's unbelievable! 🤢🤮

So the party of the first part, Josh Gouker, had a kid, party of the second part, Josh Young, one of the two of whom killed party of the third part, Trey Zwicker, who was the child of party of the fourth part, Amanda Zwicker, who was seeing party of the first part. When party of the first part butt dialed party of the fourth part she overheard party of the first part trash talking her with party of the fifth part, cousin of party of the first part, who was riding party of the first part. Party of the fourth part was pregnant with party of the first part's child, so she decided to abort the pregnancy. Party of the third part is found dead shortly thereafter, and police come looking for parties of the first and second part, who both abscond to Alabama with a party of the sixth part who quickly becomes irrelevant when she admits she knew the party of the first part and had a bit of a relationship with him. Party of the second part is viewed by police as the murderer, but party of the first part confesses and is convicted of killing party of the third part. Party of the second part is subsequently found not guilty of first degree murder in a separate trial of killing party of the third part. Party of the first part then attempts to retract admission of guilt, claiming he only did so to spare his son, party of the second part, from a life in prison sentence. Judge wags finger at party of the first part and says 'you've lied, you've lied about lying, you're claiming to now tell the truth about lies, and lying, which looks like lying about telling the truth before, which you now claim was a lie, which the jury believed as the truth." The party of the second part writes a letter explaining how and why he killed the party of the third part, which surprisingly matches the story told by the party of the fifth part, the cousin of the party of the first part. For now the party of the second part is stuck getting in and out of jail in an early life that mirrors that of his father, party of the first part.
Did that make sense? Because writing it helped me figure out how everyone fit (different from the cousins fitting) together.
