Installing Greene Racing camshaft and hearing how it sounds (note) I did not ask for a choppy idle because it's my daily and I leave for work very early in the morning
Sounds like we should be good for weekend of Oct 6th - all the parts will def be in. The Cam is the only thing that needs to be plugged in - going to do an intake upgrade down the road. Would he let me film it like this?
Sounds pretty damn good I did mine before I installed my new engine😊Thanks for the video..A lot of people don’t get to see what us mechanics have to do😏
BlackMamba Ram yea sir... Definitely sleeper Jay asked if I wanted a lope tune but I really like sleeper mode and track times are whats most important to me
BlackMamba Ram Really did not know that thanx no lope at all then... There is lil chop but thats what I wanted more sounding like the way it was b4 cam
Incredible Hemi yeah, your good the way you are. Will definitely be in your favor if you like to grudge race. I wanted lope so I chose a more aggressive cam, sacrificed a little torque to get it and just went higher on my stall to compensate the low end loss to get me moving. Lope tunes are just for sound, not at all worth it for a sacrifice in performance. I had a lope tune on the baby cam I had before and it killed my bottom end, went from 1.76 to 1.8s 60' with a dead bite and top end mph didn't pick up any. I only picked up midrange with faster 1/8 mile but same 1/4 in similar weather conditions. Kinda defeats the purpose of the cam install.
Would’ve been cool if you left in the parts where he struggled with the cam to see how he got it without damaging the cam, I know they can be tricky sometimes so sharing some tips or tricks could be quite helpful
All that work.!! No cam lube, or break in procedure..I am curious how many miles u got b4 failure..? 2000..? Sounds like my 2012 jeep grand cherokee with exhaust...dont hear any chop @ all....!! Anyways...just sayin...
If I'm pulling my intake manifold, fuel system, ignition system, and heads off to do a cam....that entire small block is coming out for forged everything.
did you remove mds? I've done quite a few installs and have never removed the intake...just unbolt and hang from the hood, means i didn't have to remove fuel lines too... can't go wrong with a Greene cam..he spec'd a 230/238 cam for my Ram and it's killer..
I have 2011 dodge ram 1500 5.7l. Installed stage 2 cam no tune yet have an appointment on the 9th to get tune but can hardly drive getting a to rich code. My question did you have same problem also for the 545rfe tans do you know of a good stall to put in there thanks?
I have been doing a lot of research on my 5.7 hemi and really want to do a cam but nothing is giving me a straight answer about if I actually have to get my truck turned or not
So how did he get the cam in when it got stuck? I think that would probably be the most informative part of the video. What techniques did he use. Did he pull it out a bit and adjust it? Would more lube prevent this?
I wanted to hear what he had to say about the mds, also when u came and delete how do u get the check engine light off. I'm sure it comes on. I unplugged my mds 6k miles ago, got 7200 on it now, love the way it drives without that shit. But hate looking at that check engine light.
Did incredible Hemi have Headers before he put the Cam in? Im asking because i have a Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 L Hemi Rumble Bee with Short Tube Headers and thinking about adding a Cam and kinda wanna get an idea what it might sound like.
I was wondering, when you pulled your stock cam out did you notice any abnormal wear? I know it's fairly common issue from what I have been reading? How many miles do you have? Are you or did you upgrade the valve train, rocker, ect.?
98% of new gearheads OVER CAM their engines and then wonder why only 10 mpg and crummy idle! It's good you made wise decision to keep it "small"if it's your daily driver. What you need for the street is good idle, more torque and quicker acceleration.
I am from staten island I have a 2020 ram looking to put a cam in was wondering how much your friend would charge for a job like this thx I appreciate it
How did you match up the timing Mark's without dropping the oil pump! I am doing a OEM replacement now due to lifter failure. Trying to get out of dropping the oil pan due to I can not right now. The only thing I have left is to get the timing correct.
What is the cam and the top end set you bought sir mine just dropped on my 2012 in a bind did you have to delete the eco mode shit if so what parts did you get please need help
Needing to replace my cam and lifters in my 2011 ram hemi 5.7. Want to do a performance cam What cam did you install? Did you do lifters? Did you have to do a new program, Did you lose your MDS, so many questions
corey coombs MDS suxs so yes, he did a MDS delete and I'm positive that he removed MDS with the tune, you'll need all new lifters and new springs are always recommend for peace in mind, the cam is up to your needs , from what I've seen there's only 3 options.
Hey hey Incredible i just recently had a lifter go to shit and totally screwed my cam.... # 2 if it matters, but i ordered the Modern muscle extreme cam kit with the Obama Delete "MDS" lol. new timing chain new helcat lifters and cam. Just wanting to know if ya think that was the right choice. i know u guys or u know a lot on the hemi and just curious as to if i made the right choice i use yer vids a lot an and think yall are legit. any feedback?? i have done the delete and installed the cam and lifters and about to put the heads and such back together came with all the new bolts, gaskets, timing chain and timing chain guide etc. i did not replace the timing chain because it did not seem that i needed to because everything was tight and still in good condition. if i need down the the line i have either way just wanting to know if ya think i did the right thing no??
Where did you get the Cam installed? I'm looking to get a Greene Racking cam kit installed also. I'm in the process of researching recommended shops in the NY, NJ area.
Haven't looked inside the Hemi to get my answer but why pull the heads for a cam swap? Were the lifters changed and they have to come out through the lifter/pushrod holes under the head?
Is there no setup for those new springs? I’m a Harley mechanic and we always test and set up the spring height! But I know cars are different so just curious?
Hey I've just seen this video, after putting a ton of money into my vette I'm thinking to do a cam and exhaust for my 17 ram, it's nice to see that you're in nj, I'm in roselle park next to cranford, did your buddy do his ram to and would he do mine?
hey where did you drop the truck ? i got bad lifters and probably my cam needs to be changed im looking for some good shop or mechanic but its hard in PA , i see you have NJ tag maybe is not far from me and guy looks like he know what hes doing , let me know whats the shop name and whats the name of this guy ? thanks
I am looking to do a cam and lifter swap on my 2011 5.7 Big Horn. I'm not looking for high performance racing parts, just need to get the MDS taken out and do the swap. Are there any recommendations on which would be the best non MDS cam and lifters that won't break the bank? Thanks!! And nice video btw!
@@IncredibleHemi1111 damn my 2013 ram just went out and I'm getting shafted down in Phoenix az I've been quoted 4k plus everywhere I go for stock parts 😢 time to take out the tool box
Looking to get a cam done on my 300s 5.7. I live right around the corner from where you got yours done. Can you point me in the right direction to get in contact with the mechanic that did yours? Thanks
Did you lap your valves when you did this install? My truck is getting Jay's 1.5 V2 Cam early next week, truck has 38,000 miles on it...not sure if the valves needed lapping yet. Thanks.
I was looking to do this on my 13. Adding performance lifters and a Greene cam. But I'm running 35 inch tires on my truck so how much more performance could I realistically get. I'm not looking for something that'll run quick times at a track I just want the added power for daily use. Is it still worth the money?
I recently just purchased a ram and I am looking to cam it, I’m not to mechanically inclined so what all has to be done? And should I swap the headers soon after it is camed?
Never use a rough discs on two smoothe mating surfaces. If I seen some one do that shit to my motor i would have slapped the back of his head off. All you need is a good scraper
Holy crap I had to watch that on mute
The 60' slowed down because the larger cam moves up the peak torque rpm. Needs a converter to make the most of it.
In most shops that I worked for we would have been fired for using abrasive discs on a head surface.
Aluminum heads too. I saw several things in that video that normally would not fly. Like installing the cam bone dry. Assembly Lube is your friend.
JK yes sir, there's always time for lube!!
JK I don't get me wrong I'm not one to criticize another techs work but that is hackish.
The fact that the truck is running great and hasn't had any issues despite IH beating it mercilessly shows his guy did a good job.
Did he cut out the part where he couldn’t get the cam fully installed because he took a sledge to it?
This is getting me pumped... all the pieces are coming in for this.
Awesome man it's very exciting time when a cam is ready to be installed
Sounds like we should be good for weekend of Oct 6th - all the parts will def be in. The Cam is the only thing that needs to be plugged in - going to do an intake upgrade down the road. Would he let me film it like this?
Sounds pretty damn good I did mine before I installed my new engine😊Thanks for the video..A lot of people don’t get to see what us mechanics have to do😏
Ken Cook thanx man.. Yea cam install is very intailed
Ken Cook i
Should there be a concern that the camshaft was not greased before being put into the engine?
I would say yes lmao
I'm sincerely hoping he knew to wash the pre film off and relube it but the way he was smashing that thing in there those poor cam bearings😄😄😅
Yeah I noticed that and it looked like it got stuck until he cut the video. Made me cringe, that boy needed some assembly lube or some molly.
Yes a cam should be greased before installing it shows what they know isn't much
Cam lube anyone ❓😬😱
Hell yeah, sleeper mode. Exhaust sounds great. Glad your happy with it. Now to get those new track times. Congrats brother!
BlackMamba Ram yea sir... Definitely sleeper Jay asked if I wanted a lope tune but I really like sleeper mode and track times are whats most important to me
Incredible Hemi yeah, it will run much better without the lope tune. Timing is pulled on the lope tunes. So slows you down a bit N/A.
BlackMamba Ram Really did not know that thanx no lope at all then... There is lil chop but thats what I wanted more sounding like the way it was b4 cam
Incredible Hemi yeah, your good the way you are. Will definitely be in your favor if you like to grudge race. Nah I just like to comment based on the title and thumbnail
You have fuel delivery issue's with pump or have to upgrade your injectors at all

I'm jealous of that cordless wrench the mechanic has!
HammerK99 yea he had some very nice cordless snap-on tools
Yeah it's nice. But $500 dollars is a bit much. I have a Milwaukee m12 3\8 cordless wrench it cost $150 dollars.

You can pay them off bro
You went that deep without going for the full Monty heads long tubes intake bro if ripped my 5.7 apart that much everything stock would go bye bye
Sounds like my 5.7 Hemi. I bought it used with not alot of info but it sure seems like it's got an upgraded cam , I wish I knew for sure.
Get yourself some shielding and ducting for that intake! It's a hot air intake. The factory setup would be better than that.
Patrick H 😂🤣 I call it the same thing. Your 110% right. Glad I’m not alone.
Nice growl… I was surprised it didn’t lope.
I asked for no lope with this cam my new cam lopes good , u can hear in updated videos

Incredible Hemi I bet, glad it's finally in, can't wait to see your track runs.
My hemi run amazing. No tune up needed, except i put a flowmaster outlaw exhaust in it. Omg sounds great
They don't need a tune unless u want a lil more power n if u decide to start modding but yes they run great

Would have been nice to see how he freed the stuck cam.
So how did he get the cam in when it got stuck? I think that would probably be the most informative part of the video. What techniques did he use. Did he pull it out a bit and adjust it? Would more lube prevent this?
He didnt use any lube and i assume he hammered it in.. dont 😂
Sure would have loved some chop. But understand why can we see the Dino cart see where you pick up on power and torque

you need a diablo intune i3 to disable the mds system and no more check engine light, but plug them in before you do the flash.
damn no assembly lube on a new cam !
I was thinking the same damn thing. Probably would've gone in easier
I own the same Ram 1500 brilliant black and was wondering what the link to purchase the camshaft kit ..?

Yes had to replace with non mds Lifters
That new cam probably failed. No assembly lube?! And if it didnt lucky duck. Dont rely on luck hen working on engines.
What stage of cam you install
Why would you not change the timing chain and tensioners and oil pump while in there.
right
