@@angel.m9960with most aftermarket cams you have to do the MDS delete kit. What doesn’t make sense to me is that their delete kit includes a cam as well. So I’m wondering if I can order the kit without the cam, since I’d already have a cam in the other package lol
Great tutorial on cam swaps. 3 things I would do different. 1. Hit on the top of the MDS with a hammer and it will twist and lift easily without breaking. Hitting it breaks the seal the MDS has to the block due to the heat/cool cycles. 2. I would do the Hellcat oil pump swap while I have it all open. Would give you increased oil pressure and volume. A possible cure for the famous Hemi ticks. 3. There is already a marking on the chain to align the camshaft and the crankshaft, I would reposition to correctly to make absolutely sure it is timed together correctly. The mark is easily seen two links to the right on your motor. Side note, I always look forward to your videos and you are one of my top subscription video on my list. Keep up the great work and content.
On a 5.7 Hemi, when doing this, be sure to replace the stock oil pump for a High Volume oil pump. This is a big investment in your engine, might as well lubricate it properly.
I wish I had the money, time and knowledge to do things like this 👍 keep up the good work I’ve been watching since you did the v6 fans on the silver cc ram
Sounding amazing John!!! You must really be under the gun with having to get the jeep ready too??? I’ll be looking forward to seeing that as well coming up!!! Try and stay cool in the Florida heat and I’ll see you in the next amazing video!!!
@@sleepychallenger yea I seen sky on the Reignited TH-cam channel recommend it so I tried it on the motor I'm currently rebuilding an all 4 came out smooth with a slight twist.
Just did mine like that too. Hammer and none of them broke. Apparently there’s magnets under them that should be removed too. Didn’t know that 😮 so guess the magnets are staying in mine.
@@BoostedMotorsports I was 👌🏻 thissssssss close to pulling the trigger on a project SS/T and then a daily driver R/T, but I didn’t need more projects (plus they weren’t the right ones for me). Instead I’m going the route of 4th gen Ram 1500 (already planning on doing what you did with yours and adding the gauge cluster and 8.4 Uconnect)
@BoostedMotorsports Can you run SDPC cam for the Gen III non eagle in the newer gen eagle platform? Looking at the stage 2, don’t know if I can use on a 2013 ram
So wait I thought the oil pan had to come off to get that timing cover off to swap a cam ...I see you didn't ? I've been constantly a cam swap but have no other reason to pull apart the engine and the pan is quite the pita to get off on a Durango it's...but if it don't gotta come off I'm rto really have to reconsider this cam swap with a slightly modest street cam and mds delete.
Incredible work John. How long in total did all this take you? This video combined with the one you did last year camming that Challenger seems like a perfect how-to. 💪🏻🍻🍻
I wonder where the cams are made I had a 13 Rt 6speed no mds I put 100k of hell miles on that motor and the cam never failed everything else broke more then once and try to find a good water pump they go every 25k I had 3 put in
Guess the only question I got is , how do you know if your oil pump is not wearing I guess , you only worry about that if it has cam wear ? Working on a 5.7 now with a few worn cam lobes ,no signs of damage to cam bearing areas ....a couple garbage lifters so i pulled the oil pump , and it's wiped with scoring in the body and on gears Guess if you swap where there is no wear to the cam then you can skip the oil pump stuff ? Kinda wondering what most people do especially for high mileage? Curious what people think 🤔
Could this cam be installed on a newer gen 4 hemi that will have the non mds delete done and the complete sdpc cam kit? Or is the cam between non vvt and vvt set in stone even if the limiter is installed?
Do you need a bigger stall converter for the stage 3 SDPC camshaft kit? I have a 2012 rt charger and I’m looking to getting this cam instead of the mark 82 cam from FRP
I have a question man i am thinking about getting a stage. Three comp can for my 04 dodge ram truck. Can I use a stockhead? And there? Is there any issue with using the stock heads
@BoostedMotorsports Is this a gen III block and eagle heads? Theres no stage kits for 2009+ or can you run the gen III cam kit in the newer gen 4 block? even if its non vvt and vvt?
What TCM did you use? One from Europe for beamers, zf People? I found one there, Holley doesnt make one for zf Chrysler trannys yet. Which one you found. Would a Holley fuel injection package work on a v6 that I would swap the engine, use a Holley dash and etc. But use the main ECM for power windows and all the other stuff, radio and so on. Wondering if you know about that? No go? Have to but WHOLE car?
I am wanting to do a 57 hemi swap in my 2000 Dodge sport. What all do I need parts to do that swap? And to get sensors and transmission to work with it
Step 1 pull the motor Step 2 do it the right way Step 3 save hrs of work Step 4 you don't have to do it again. BTW in case your wondering there is a reason the dealer lifters are so expensive

What valve spring are you using? I looked at the install kit, and it doesn't mention springs.
How long did it take for you to do this cam kit just asking because my car been in the shop for three weeks is that normal
Do I have to buy both for proper installation or do I just have to buy the camshaft kit.

I'm loving this build Jon! Can't wait for dyno day!
This is by far the best HEMI cam replacement video I have seen. Excellent job John. Detailed steps with great video.
Excellent tutorial on the cam swap! This truck will haul some serious bacon! Thanks for a cool video!
Sounds like a beast. I love it .
Do you guys do your own tuning or get someone to tune it for you?
now it sounds like it looks. lumpy! what a job.
This SST will go down as one of the best modernized 2nd gen builds I’ve ever come across.
Jam up job man.

what you do with the mds harness???
On them mds solenoids find that it you give them a whack with a rubber mallet before trying to get them out they come right out no prob.
