  • Welcome to my video. Here I am rolling the beautiful Bakewell near the Peak District in England using my SEBA FR1 inline skates / rollerblades.
    Bakewell is a small market town in Derbyshire. So less city skating and more rural skating. Bakewell is famous for its Bakewell pudding, a jam pastry with an egg and ground almond enriched filling. It is not to be confused with Bakewell tart, which is a completely different confection, made with shortcrust pastry, an almond topping and a sponge and jam filling.
    I meant to include a shot of a Bakewell pudding but unfortunately the footage I took failed. Therefore to see what a Bakewell pudding looks like search the internet! I can confirm they are delicious and perfect food for an inline skater!
    Bakewell and the whole of the Peak District are totally stunning and offer lots of outside activities.

    You seem to always have the most beautiful and peaceful places to go skating. Great skating as always. Thank you for sharing.

      Thank you. I am very lucky to have nice places to skate. I tend to film either early in the morning or later in the evening so that the streets are quieter and have less people.

    I think that you enjoy much more your flow when it is shared with all of us. We thank you for the images. So peaceful to watch. Good job with your editing. Nevertheless, you know me now, I miss your commentaries, your voice starting with 'hello world'. Apart from that, just perfect.

    Lovely shots of Bakewell - it’s a beautiful town. If you ever feel like doing any yoga there check out ‘Panacea Yoga’ (an old mate of mine’s sister runs it). I really am convinced that a skateflow is the best way to film a ‘city’ tour.

      I actually started Yoga just a few weeks ago! So I'll look out for it. To be honest though I only go to the Peak District every couple of years on holiday so might be a little while before I can return! Loved skating there though.

      WarringtonSkater akaPaulConlon ha - that’s a happy coincidence (the yoga). I don’t do yoga myself but I do do gymnastics ...so my other youtube channel may be of interest to you (there are definitely some crossovers with that & yoga); “gymnastics dad paul”. I’m a newbie at that too, but I’m progressing. I love skating & gymnastics in equal measure.

      Wow. Impressive stuff. I bet the balance you need for a hand stand etc must really be good for skating.

    Lovely video, and some nice editing! Skating's a great way to see a new place, and cause a few bemused faces at the same time. One possible improvement - you needed to call into the shop and get one of those delicious Bakewell puddings! Skating and food - two of the best things in the world.

      Thank you for your commets. I did have some footage of me eating a Bakewell pudding but unfortunately it got messed up so I couldn't use it :( I did give a shout out to the pudding in my description though!

    I've just ordered a pair of blades and I'm super hyped to try them out. I never thought about skating around Bakewell before. My boyfriend plays for their rugby team so while he's at games I'll be able to skate around and meet him after. (Once I'm good enough). Thanks for the inspiration :)

      That's great you've got some blades arriving. Bakewell was a great place to skate. I really enjoyed alongside the river. It's flat and smooth. All the best with your skating. Perhaps get the boyfriend a pair as well...good fitness for the rugby!

      When filming I normally skate early in the morning or later at night. I prefer to skate when its quiet. In this video I filmed about 7.30 am. Bakewell gets very busy with tourists during the day.

      I filmed it early in the morning. About 8am. Bakewell is beautiful but gets very touristy later in the day.

    Nice town and very smooth video. What camera do you use? I can see the shadow and it seems to me that it is not a GoPro...

    • @whittyskater
      @whittyskater  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. Yes Bakewell is a very nice town. I'm using a Go Pro 5. It's in an aluminium case for extra protection which may explain why it doesn't look like go pro!

      Ok. thanks! What is the length of you selfiestick btw?

    • @whittyskater
      @whittyskater  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My selfie pole is about 119 cm long or 47 inches.

      I think I use the world's oldest GoPro camera. It has outlasted several selfie-sticks, though! ;)

    Nice edit, man. Really aethetic scenery and the occasional locked off shots help give a sense of where you are.
    Two questions for you: First, how do you like that gopro pole? I use the twist lock kind but yours seems to have slightly better reach.
    Second, do you use royalty free music for your videos?

    • @whittyskater
      @whittyskater  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers dude for your positive comment. That was my first video where i tried something a bit different with the edit. I like my go pro pole. It extends to about 120cm and is nice and solid. I'm able to frame myself quite well at this length. My music is from youtubes free to use music library.

    WHITTYskater which one is your favorite setup, the 125 or the 80?

    • @whittyskater
      @whittyskater  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      My favourite is still 80 mm. I think i'm just so used to it. But the 125mm is growing on me. To be honest i would love to try 110mm as well! Just to compare!

    I’m starting starting outdoor skating again and I’m not sure what blades would be best
    Any ideas would be appreciated!

    • @whittyskater
      @whittyskater  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can only really recommend the skates I own. So the SEBA or FR Skates FR1s for me would be a great skate for all around outdoor use. They come with various options on wheel size. You could also check out the FR2's and FR3's if you want something a little cheaper but still good quality.
      As for skates I don't own the powerslide NEXT seem to be popular. They are a similar hard shell boot. Any of the rollerblade skates like the RBs also look very nice.
