    As a short rider with not a tonne of experience (this is my second season) I find the seat design and seat height to be very controllable and confidence inspiring and that’s in part why I like it so much. It’s a big upgrade from my old ninja 300 and it was very cheap and available. In my area if I wanted an Mt07 I have to pay a 500 dollar deposit and wait half a year to get it and that’s without ever having the opportunity to sit on it. So my decision to go with the z650 was in part due to convenience. My local kawi dealer had it in stock and would let me sit on it and it was cheap for the value (2021 model). That being said sometimes I wish I made the full jump to the z900

      What that guy said^ its trendy to like eurobikes and this is a hipster owned and operated channel. Truth of the matter is not only that z650 more than competent on the street its probably going to last 10x as long as a triumph trident. Also, unrelated, but spite can't ride to save his life, its embarrassing watching videos of him riding. And yammie isn't very good either riding backroads at 45mph in 1st gear at 7.500 rpm on an r1... and 90 percent of their audience doesn't ride... so with all that in mind id say that their opinions are pretty meaningless.

      I mean, moto America for example, championship rider Josh Herrin was on the podium or fighting for it all year 2019 on his factory suzuki. Now on a privateer bmw he can't keep up with privateer suzukis and yamahas, struggling to finish 10th, out of like 14-17 bikes. Similar story with the ducati team. They make sure to feature it every race. Theyre never competitive and all they mention is how they're "collecting data" meaning they can't win, they know it and so does everyone else so they won't even lie to you and pretend to be competitive

Like 15hp and 10nm more and it would be extremely fun bike, except maybe the exhaust note is kinda meh. Well, it gets me around and teaches me the basics, i think it's good place to start from. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Done some twisties, suspension is definitely not good for but it can do that. I think Kawasaki made the 650 just to be a middle step up until you get to the godly Z900, cause lord knows going from an A2 license motorcycle like the z400 or any power restricted compliant motorcycle to the Z900 is asking for your coffin measurements. This is fine, not a whole lot of middle weight bikes out there you can afford to buy just to discard a few months/year for a bigger bike if that's your final goal.

    I live in northern Colorado about 10 minutes from canyon twisties through the Rocky's and the engine performance in and out of those corners is absolutely PERFECT. The power band and torque seem custom tailored for that kind of riding.

    • @laughingstalk1343
      @laughingstalk1343 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The main advantage of the V6 engine is packaging. The V6 engine is basically shaped like a cube, which makes it easy to fit under a car hood longitudinally or transversely, as car hoods get shorter for aerodynamic purposes. It's shorter in length than an inline-4 or inline-6.
      It's not as smooth as an inline-6, however, and needs a separate balance shaft to smooth out vibrations.

    • @monkmoto1887
      @monkmoto1887 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@calvinnyala9580 no it wouldn't, that 250 is already pushing what it can do. You'd have to trade compression for boost. And your heat and metallurgical ceiling are really low. And a supercharger takes power from the engine to run. So you're trading power to run the supercharger to make maybe 5 extra wheel horsepower, which was maybe 15 hp but you lost 10 of those running the supercharger, on a 50 horsepower engine. Its literally a bad idea and that's why kawasaki or any motorcycle company won't supercharge a bike under 1000cc, and on the side they probably won't turbo anything smaller than a 600/650 because it has to provide more benefit than cost. I think that where a motorcycle is tested has a huge impact on whether it is found to be exciting or boring. If you drove a Miata around Austin it would seem boring too. Its not the Dodge Hellcat of motorcycles for sure. Most of the favorable reports on the kawasakis with the 650 motor come out of Europe the UK or California where there are things like mountains or coast lines to ride. Exciting places for exceptional vehicle's like the Miata or a Z 650.

    Your review is dead on. This is a “safe” choice. I agree the sportiness of the mt is better. The smooth ride of the cb650r is better. There is of course the sound. Sound is subjective and is affected by other considerations for me. As a 50 year old man with severe arthritis, the ride of the Honda is amazing, but the lower pitched sound of the kawi especially with stock exhaust protects my hearing as a guitarist. I’m a small-statured man with commuting and protecting my hearing for my first love in mind.

I just recently upgraded to the FZ1 Gen. 2, which is just a beast of a motorcycle. Now I realized how effortless the FZ6R was and really appreciate the design of the bike. Everything on a "boring" bike is so easy, you forget the bike is there and you end up just enjoying the ride. With the FZ1, I feel like I'm controlling an animal to do my biding. • @roarkshsha

    The design is very neutral. Versatile.
    Let me explain.
    I have the Givi 3 piece luggage on this bike, it is my main mode of transportation.
    75% city use, 25 % highway use. The parallel twin has smooth and adequate torque right where I need it. Each engine configuration has its pros and cons, the parallel twin suits my needs the best.
    It is light and very nimble with excellent brakes, which I love since I started learning moto gymkhana last year.
    Yes, the stock springs are light, I put heavier ones.
    Yes, it sounds like a lawnmower, but I don't care.
    As my riding skills have improved ( I have spent a lot of time practicing ), it is as I have gotten a new and improved bike. I have learned to extract more from the bike by such as proper gear changes, this is what I mean by a very neutral design. This bike improves more than the other bikes you mentioned if you concentrate on improving your skills.
    In my opinion this bike is a very thought out design. It is not a boring bike in my opinion, it is a bike that the rider has to extract the character. Maybe a blank page is the best analogy.
    Just my opinion.
    Thanks.

The only thing that I don't like about my Z650 are the short gearing; at 36 mph, the manual recommends that you should be on 6th gear. I don't see Kawasaki having a problem dishing out money to develop a new engine though, lets not forget that Kawasaki is a conglomerate that have their hands on aerospace, building/structure, luxury cruise ships, and other engineering related fields; an example is the Kawasaki ZH2 which is claimed to be an all-in-house development and manufacturing with the assistance of their aerospace department (reference: Kawasaki USA TH-cam Channel of their recent video press release of their 2021 model lineup that was release on 11/22/2020).

    Anyone who thinks the Z650 is boring reveals their total like of experience and understanding of motorcycles, especially sport motorcycles.
    The Z650 is one of the most fun, flickable, precise and stable midsize sport bikes on the market. The torque band is *the best* in its weight/power class, beating out all it's competitors in the 40-60mph range.
    Even "better" bikes, that are in the next class above, cannot embarrass the Z650. I've ridden: Z900, Z900RS, ZX6R, Speed Twin, Street Triple RS, Monster 821, and MT09. And each one of them reveals not the weaknesses of the Z650, but the strengths.
    Not liking the Z650 is akin to saying "I'm an expert movie reviewer, and I think Raiders of the Lost Ark is boring".

    I have the cfmoto 650mt, which is basically the z650 engine, and older frame design. (The rumour is Cfmoto used the old Kawasaki molds, they look exactly the same).
    It's good, not great, it goes fast, not fast enough, it's fun, but not exciting. It's safe, just safe enough. It's really a beginners bike.

    Kawasaki is not worried about those squid beginner bikes you should talk about the discontinuation of the R6 due to euro 5 regs

    Its not a race bike. Its not supposed to be exciting. It is the motorcycle version of a Camry.

    I looked at them before I got my CB650R and the twin cylinder was the deal breaker for me.
