    I have a 2017 Yamaha SR 400. This was my first motorcycle I ever owned and had been a blast for me. I have a son who is 6 and he loves taking rides with me. Living in Arizona I can ride year round and we almost never get rain where I live. My 1991 Toyota Corolla bit the dust last summer and my only vehicle for the last year has been my SR 400. Since my son is old enough to ride with me and we don’t have bad weather where I’m from I am fine having a motorcycle as my only vehicle. I pick my son up everyday from school on my motorcycle and take him everywhere else on my motorcycle. I had to adapt to not having a car but I like just having a motorcycle.

    • @AmberNull
      @AmberNull 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Manuel Dietz, wow that’s a short riding season. I’m so used to it being warm that I have a coat scarf and gloves on when it’s 70 degrees Fahrenheit. My family members who live in the northern states would be in a swim suit at 70 degrees F. I love Arizona because it’s dry heat and not humid. Yet still I have the AC on most of the year. Summers are very brutal here even for me. I live 7 miles from the US Mexico border in the hottest part of Arizona.

    For the phone charger idea, keep in mind little squids some chargers and things that hook to the battery can drain it if you don’t properly disconnect/turn off. Also, check your bikes peeps, some bikes ( like my xsr700 ) have an auxiliary port toward the front of the bike tucked away somewhere.

      Second thing is...buy a stinking external battery and you can put them both in your pocket where it belongs when you're riding.

  • @LiveStoked
    @LiveStoked 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Throttle lock has been a great one for me. Nothing like being able to rest my throttle hand the same way I can rest my clutch hand. The cramp busters/throttle assists are nice as well, but in my opinion nothing is quite like being able to completely remove your hand from the throttle if you so desire and still be able to keep speed. I especially like the brakeaway as it is the only one that disengages both manually, or whenever the front break is applied, though it's probably the most expensive option.

    • @timhendricks650

  • @PainterD54
    @PainterD54 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    For one in the colder climates (or chilly mornings to work) you don't have to spend $100s to have heated grips. I do this to all my bikes. I get the cheap grip heaters, the ones that just stick to the handlebars UNDER your grips. They have a high and low setting (I start on high then switch to low) which work very well to keep your fingers from freezing. You can get them for around $25. Use a relay to wire them so you don't mistakenly leave them on a run your battery dead.

    • @timhendricks650
      @timhendricks650 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Switched the main headlight, and I also have two smaller lights (OEM light bar) on the sides that came as LED . It's like cheating at night, and probably throws a lot more light on the road than my car does. (And aimed properly, so I shouldn't be blinding anyone.)

    Good video Spite. Those are all great suggestions. My '88 Katana 1100 has a Cobin seat and I have to admit it's pretty comfortable. It now also has a couple of USB ports to charge my phone and GPS, ... and because the stock mirrors suck so bad and are only good for seeing my arms and darn little else, I bought a set of bar end mirrors during the winter.
    I'm actually pretty happy. I just got a call from my mechanic at Cycle Tech letting me know my bike's ready to roll. Valve lash set, new chain and sprockets, and clutch with far too much drag fixed, .. as well as other normal tuneup stuff completed. Can't wait to get on and test that old Suzy in a couple more hours.

    #4. Admore LED light bar on the rear of the bike, black 3M reflective film on the back of my saddle bags for night visibility, Skene's mounted to the front of forks.
    #3. Inexpensive SeatConcepts seat. Not as good as a Russell or Laam, but a good 400 - 500 mile a day seat.

    In absence of USB charger, I carry a small battery pack on each bike, just in case I run my phone low. Right now, I don't tend to be out for more than a day at a time, so that works well for me. Agree, a USB would be ideal, just haven't made time to do it yet and this is cheap insurance to carry.

    • @Zariston
      @Zariston 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I think its a good starter bike, not heavy not extremely powerful, not pricey, and you wont get bored on it instantly because of lack of power.

      I was just asking, because I will be riding everyday to work. Getting a drivers license is too big of a hassle, but with a motorcycle I can take a 3 day class; get the license, and then work my way up. Right now I’m also looking at a 2002 Marauder, and the 1600 Vulcan nomad in addition to the Savage.

    Yeah, tools are good. I have a used K1200 GT that I need to get one for.
    Before I even started this video "aftermarket seat" is the first thing that came to mind. I've ended up replacing the seats on every motorcycle I've owned for the last 30 years. I've had two Corbin seats and won't buy another though just because their customer service sucks. It's not just me - on Reddit I've seen a lot of complaints about being ghosted by Corben support.
    Anything I would add to this list? Yah, a GPS. I've got a TomTom Ryder 550 that's well worth the money. I have mounts for it on both my KTM and the BMW and it's great for when I go out exploring new roads.

    I have heated grips on my bike however one thing I noticed on other bikes I had heated grips on is my hands still froze to the point it hurt the way this problem was solved is by either adding hard hards from ebay or amazon the other way is by adding handlebar muffs these don't look pretty but if you ride in cold weather then the muffs or hard guards definitely help keep the fingers warmer

      The Hotwire heated gloves are great. They heat up the tops of your hands and not the palms. I have them on the medium setting when riding during winter.

    Current bike has heated grips, mirror extenders, Sargent seat, Powerlet (and a trickle charger SAE Jack wired in), and a tool kit/emergency kit I take on long days and trips. Taillight/brake light is LED already, but I’m thinking about upgrading the turn signals to LEDs.

    Number one! MOD! PMSL... at 60f I'm putting my summer gloves on! If it's going to hit 75f then I've got under armour wick away on under my leathers so I wont need help peeling them off later.(Managed to pick up the 2006 CBR1000RR Repsol last weekend so I've been having some fun over in the UK now the lockdown rules have changed). P.s. MOD 7!!! Would really like to see You and Yammie Noob take a wheel off at the side of the road with that tool role, then crack the bead on the tyre, put the plug in and reinflate the tyre before putting the wheel back on...

    I’m from England so it’s never really hot, my bike had Oxford heated grips when I got the bike and riding in winter when it was freezing I used it but, after getting my oxford thermal groves I never needed the heated grips again. I’ve just took the system off and sold it. They only cost £35/$50 and there one of the best gloves out there even after I had a down at 40mph there was only a very small rip that didn’t even go all they though. My number one would be proper winter gear like the gloves
