    An awesome show with a perfect blend of action and (oftentimes hilariously outlandish) humor! I hate the fact that it only had 2 seasons! It only got better in S2 (in my opinion), so who knows how much greater it could've gotten if it had been given more seasons?

    I watched the show last year and I agree about what you said about the other characters. I wish they had more screen time. Black Dynamite literally steals every scene that he's in. Maybe if the show just would've gone on longer, they could've done more with the other characters. Black Dynamite is one of my favorite cartoons now lol.

    Okay. I'm at an age where I read this thing call "the newspaper" and in this "newspaper" were hand drawn comics, and one of the comics was The Boondocks. At that time, A. McGruder was a highly controversial artist and we didn't know when he would be canceled, as many papers tried to boycott his comics. After the attack at 9/11, and the War on Terror, McGruder stepped up his scathing political rhetoric and it wasn't even clear he would make it alive much less continue publishing comics. So, for me and my friends to hear that a cartoon of The Boondocks was being made was absolutely insane. I'm not sure if people today can truly understand that since it's so easy to put anything on the internet now.
    Also, I am also of the age to know that black films are regulated to hood movies and slavery, as "the man" tends to block many black movies, or tax them so heavily that black stars and films are squeezed out of production. Along comes Black Dynamite. Not just a Blaxploitation film ABOUT sticking it to the man, but a Blaxploitation film that DOES stick it to the man. No ads, no heavy sponsors, and only a select few theaters were even showing it. I had to drive across the state to see it. Its an Indy film that does what Indy films are made to do... be independent. This is context I think people should know.

    I needed dive deeper to understand, but its why i love this show. It made me learn much more than Southpark, because after every episode i felt like i missing something to understand what was all time out of view for non associated people. Seeing your thoughts on Black dynamite is a lot like Mine with south park season 1 and 2 as I feel those two seasons built up arcs that led to their movie as south park the Movie was the Final to the first two seasons ending the old season status quo well giving inside to where the cast would be built from as the point of season 3 and Onward was showing the cast new frond status on the show and what they learned from the events of their movie

    I felt like BD was missing something as well. It wasn’t one note, more like one chord. I think each char could have been expounded upon if we saw what they cared about other than pleasing dynamite. I get that was the dynamic, but nothing was really fleshed out, nor were there any kind of stakes? I dunno.

  • @marche800
    @marche800 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What’s funny is that the movie actually does have that heart, not necessarily in the story but in the meta narrative of the fictional movie production within the movie. The whole thing is supposed to look like it actually happened in the 70s and they add jokes and moments where the seems of the film are barely holding together, which just makes everything feel earnest, like it’s a team trying their absolute best to make a good movie, which is ultimately the heart of why those old movies are beloved still. The show plays things straight, there is no fictional production the cartoon is all there is and it loses some of its tongue in cheek charm because of it.

      @chillreview636  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2
