In the Afro samurai game I think it’s way more hinted to outright stated (ion really remember) that ninja ninja is a figment of Afros imagination
Its pretty been confirmed that ninja ninja is the manifestation of all the other emotions/feelings afro has repressed over the years. Thats why he's so "fun." Ninja ninja is the spark of life that Afro couldn't fully enjoy because of his life's mission.
From what I understood ninja ninja was a God like being. That enabled the number 2 fight the number on. And as much as the act of sacrifice seemed to be to help Afro, it was to make sure that the fight actually happened.
i have the directors cut of the entire series and they explicitly state that ninja ninja is basically afros inner thoughts/personality that he suppresses due to his blindness for revenge. basically everything ninja ninja is saying is actually afro inside his head saying how he really feels or just speaking out loud in general 😭

Afro's story is a cautionary tale of revenge. In the manga and video game Justice was already dead before Afro got a chance to face him.
I also recommend that you read the original comic of Afro Samurai. There are major differences between it and the anime

Afro has no right to want revenge against justice for his fathers death case in point being he lost the duel per the rules of the headband game
Saw it what 15 years ago? Didn't read much into the story, thought the action was cool and called it a day. Maybe I should watch it again. And given how much Afro talks, they had to give mr. Jackson some more lines lol! Sure thing he voiced Ninja Ninja!

Personally I think Ninja Ninja is a "perk" of the #2 headband. It manifests a spirit that encapsulates the holder, working as advisor, encouragement, general conscience. #1 has transcended humanity, #2 still has the option to be human.

Great video! love Afro samurai, i would like to share this, the creator of Afro said in a interview that he wanted every version of the story to be slighty different from each other and he used Batman as an example. The manga, anime, game, and even the black and white pilot all differ from each other one way or another.
