Doctor Who David Tennant Jodie Whittaker reveals how she found out that David Tennant would be returning as The Doctor! #DoctorWho #DavidTennant #Shorts
Yeah she got totally railroaded and blamed for horrible writing and show running. None of it was her doing. I hope she gets to come back in a future special and redeem her run as the Doctor somehow.
@@sparkfadingspark Same. I like to try to give writers the benefit of the doubt and find something to appreciate about a work whenever I can. It was... hard to do that, for some of her episodes. And the Master got most of the juicy bits (I mean, Rasputin??? Come ON). I will celebrate her Doctor, I just never could get into the writing for her tenure.
@@Budbrothers420 I believe they were more referring to the opportunities the writing afforded her, rather than the time she was given. Which I do agree with.
It’s so sad Jodi’s era was ruined by Chibnall and his team. She really is an amazing actress and such a great person too. I hope she can get some redemption in big finish and possible future specials or anniversary’s
Her era is such an enigma because Chibnall's writing/directing was *literally* the only bad part. Cast was perfect, effects on point, costuming good-- the poor writing was the only thing bogging it down. It sucks that he chose to go harder on the bad writing after it was poorly received by viewers.
If y’all haven’t seen her (and David tenant and Olivia Coleman) in Broadchurch y’all are missing the fk out!!! Go watch it immediately it’s free on TH-cam!
This is so cute because Jodie did the same thing to Tennant when she first became the Doctor Edit: This is the quickest a comment of mine has ever got to 1k... thanks I guess 😂
i was apprehensive about the 13th doctor, and i do understand the criticism regarding the writing, but jodie's take on the doctor was extremely loveable and i just adored her. the more i watched her, the more the 13th doctor grew on me.
They genuinely did her SO wrong with the writing and I feel so bad for how things ended up. Quite excited to see the Tennant stuff when I get the chance though!
@@deadschooledWdym she didn't kill the show it's literally still going with a different showrunner now plus if anyone "killed" the show it would be Chris Chibnall it's not Jodie's fault
I would love Jodie to return in a multi-Doctor story, I think one thing that I wish her Doctor should’ve got was good writing, she’s a fantastic actress and she’s absolutely brilliant in all of her other shows, I would love to see her in a story written by RTD
I still stand by the fact that if RTD had control over season 11 through 13 we could have had an amazing female doctor. instead we got a shit season 11 a decent season 12 and a season 13 with way too much pottential left untapped. I make an edit now to say, I was so fucking wrong.
If Jodie ever gets to reprise her role, they better find a way to make that hairstyle canonical. It REALLY fits the Doctor, kinda remenicisent of Capaldi's hair before he regenerated with the texture you see in Tennant's hair.
I honestly liked jodies era more than i thought i did, the writing really took hit, as her era was ongoing when i started binge watching i could tell a difference in quality, despite that jodie as the doctor was enjoyable, she worked really hard and i hope she returns in some form
I appreciate the interviewer asking "how did you keep it secret" and Whittaker just replying "because I'm an actor, and knowing what's in the script but not spoiling it for the public before the show is an essential part of the job."
I love how she became The Doctor, so she called David, and then later David called her, like a David/Jodie switcheroo type thing. Wibbly Wobbly indeed.
Hope she gets an appearance in the RTD era or whatever comes next just to get a single story where she’s given the opportunity to develop her doctor into a beloved character. She’s a fine actress. The production completely let her down.
The ones not liking Jodie tend to be the sexists with no creativity or ignore established notes such as Timelords can change gender (Missy, the Corsair, another Timelord that 12 shot). Chibnall really was more to blame because even unlike the Bakers, he ignored a key necessary fit the series: mixing historical and lesson stories with good old SciFi
I agree with the “Poor Jodie” sentiment a lot, but more so because of what she was given to work with. I had little to no doubt in my mind she’d make a great Doctor, and she honestly really nailed it as much as she could with what she had. Unfortunately, Chibnall got lost in the writing process and too many poor decisions were made from a narrative perspective. The entire concept of there being this “Timeless Child” undermines generations worth of writing that clearly established the rules for the Doctor as a character. The biggest example being the Eleventh Doctor’s last outing, where it was explicitly stated that up until he was granted a new regeneration cycle, that was going to be it for our beloved Doctor. Fast forward to Chibnall, and all of that storytelling was undermined with a single poorly handled story arc. As far as Jodie’s Thirteenth Doctor is concerned, I’d absolutely love to have her come back for an anniversary or crossover of some kind with a far more competent writer at the helm who can let her properly show off her acting ability as the Doctor and give all fans a performance that’ll leave them with a great big smile on their faces, and that classic sense of wonder and excitement that Doctor Who used to bring.
Really hope Jodie gets a bunch of good Big Finish stories as 13 a la Colin Baker as 6. She's a fantastic actress and her era felt doomed from the start.
She’s great. I liked her Doctor, it was nice for a change. Having the doctor change gender was a pretty big deal, and it opened the story up to more perspectives and ideas. David Tennant is fantastic, too.
I want her to come back for a Christmas special or something like the day of the doctor or twice upon a time I really think her and Matt smiths doctor would play off each other very nicely
I gave JW a second go, and back to back, her episode arcs were great, bar the awful stories. She was such a good doctor. Definitely needs to be given another whirl.
I’m gonna say it: I liked Jodie’s Doc.Who storylines. Were they ground-breaking? No, but it was entertaining, and her Doctor interpretation was awesome
“David, we can talk later! I’m waiting for a call from the next Doctor!”
lol
😂😂😂
Exactly what I thought she would say.

shes going to do some big finish work so shes gonna get a lot better writing
She is a good actress and could of been a GREAT Doctor but the writing was so bad. Hopefully the audio series will redeem her version of the Doctor
Her hair looks more Doctor-ish here than what we got during her run as the doctor 🥲
If they can give Capaldi a range of haircuts, I believe they can give Jodie Whittaker more lmao.
This is the hairstyle she wanted to have as The Doctor but it was decided to go with the hairstyle that we got by the production staff.
stupid decission@@Planely
I was thinking the same
As stupid as it sounds. That's what I was thinking. It has so much personality. While almost everything about 13th did not.
If we ever do get Jodie back onto Doctor Who, two things we need to get right:
1) Give her decent writing
2) Make her keep that hairstyle.
Right? It's such perfect Doctor hair
I doubt she ever will want to due to the hate she received that should have belonged to chibnall and the writers
YES! I actually really like the hairstyle she has in this video. It's very "Doctor-y" IMO
