Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor inspired David Tennant to become an actor. Now, David Tennant himself as the Tenth Doctor inspired Ncuti Gatwa to become an actor. This show has a history of memories in so many generations of people, there's nothing in the world that is quite like it.
They need to bring back the Doctor and Donna for just random, recurring gags. Like there’s an alien spaceship over London, 15 is running around having a terrible time, and it cuts to the Doctor and Donna sitting there, having a coffee, talking about something mundane whilst watching this giant spaceship. Then it cuts back to 15 having a terrible time.
But Donna is facing the wrong direction of course, and the Doctor is facing the right way and can see it but isn't saying a word. Donna habitually missed every major alien moment from 9's first episode up until she got kidnapped from her own wedding. Why break tradition, after all?
Donna: There's an alien spaceship above London! 14: Oh there is, looks like a galaxy cruiser. Older model, no safety lights on the back. Donna: Dont you think you should do something about it? 14: Hmm im probably doing something about it as we speak..well not me,.Me but Me. loud explosion, ship warps away* 14: See? problem solved!
couldn’t agree more; in every one of these specials there’s something that shocked me to find out it was practical! first the meep, then the arms, now the puppet!
I love hearing the story about the fan in a wheelchair causing Russell to add the ramp to the TARDIS. Because the whole point of the show is imagining that anybody could be whisked away on an adventure with the Doctor
it wasn’t actually quite the way it’s told here- the fan was Tharries who is a doctor who youtuber, it wasn’t a letter, iirc he just mentioned it in a video. Still a lovely story but yeah it’s not an unknown person, the ramp was named after him!
I love how David Tennant’s doctors have respectively had the saddest and happiest endings. And then there was his clone who also had a happy ending. The 15th Doctor is going to be amazing
@@CMOT101 At least 3 was surrounded by his companions (I assume, I haven't watched his full run) when he regenerated. 10 was all alone when it happened.
As a wheelchair user myself, two other things stood out to me and one of them meant the world to me.. That part where Kate says to Shirley words to the effect of "and you! I've seen you stand up...", I've had that sort of thing happen to me! I have MS and before becoming 100% wheelchair dependent I was able to get to the boot and get my wheelchair out. The times I was told that I didn't deserve a blue parking badge because I could "walk" and was obviously faking😔. The other thing was watching Shirley freewheel down that ramp in the UNIT hq. Can confirm that doing that sort of thing is so much fun!!!
I can't imagine that's a good experience to go through. On a slightly different note, we actually do see Shirley stand 08:01 and 38:09 of the episode. I think something more is going on...
Kate said she saw Shirley walking not stand up. As a wheelchair user who can go to the boot and get my chair out with the aid of a stick I have experienced the sort of thing you did and it's horrible 🤗 As for Shirley I do feel there is more to her unfortunately. I think the hand that picked up the gold tooth was hers 😮
@@PeriodiseThis5197 that's their point. she's an ambulatory wheelchair user, much like her actress. she is capable of standing, and walking, like many wheelchair users, but still needs a wheelchair most of the time.
@@polgarauk5606 to be honest, I was too busy crying to remember it word for word. That struck a chord, the right chord. And Kate immediately apologising for it almost finished me off🥰
@@polgarauk5606 I don't think so, watch again and they had all gone inside the building and Kate was the only one with red nail varnish on as well. I think it is someone we have yet to encounter.
@@rachelcookie321 it's an old story thread from the 1980s. "Trial of a Timelord" has the doctor put on trial for crimes that it turns out are either completely made up or trumped up to look worse than they were. Eventually, it's revealed that the prosecutor was a future version of the doctor, created exactly like this.
As an old-school Whovian (my first Doctor was Pertwee on PBS in the States) I was split (no pun intended) about the "bi-generation," but then I watched it again and realized it really *was* the best outcome. 14 gets to be with his best friend and family while 15 gets to fly around and be a madman with a box. Plus, the affection shown between both Doctors was amazing; no jealousy, no envy... just *love*.
"...while 15 gets to fly around and be a madman with a box." So Matt Smith is my favorite Doctor... but yes, 15 comes off as a more emotionally intelligent version of 11, and that's why I'm almost certain he'll become my new favorite Doctor.
The scene were the 14th Doctor thought about the lives which were lost and the 15th Doctor hugging him really brought me to tears because he exactly knows how it must feel and how much he needed someone to hold him in this moment. My theory is that when the 14th Doctor was regenerating a deep wish and the influence of the Toymaker made the Bi-Generation possible so that The Doctor can have a life instead of always running but still be out there to explore the world and help people in need.
It took me a moment to really get it, until I realised that David Tennant is now the first Curator. Wider media has established that the Curators are past versions of the Doctor whom have all retired, thus bi-generations could happen again to give each Doctor an opportunity to retire like 14 did.
The original ending with Tenant always left me feeling heartbroken, no matter how much I liked Matt Smith. That whole set of scenes where he was saying goodbye, and that he didn't want to go. The Giggle just filled my heart with such peace and love. Thank you! (And I am loving the personality of the new Doctor so far!)
honestly. my mum is in a wheelchair, and despite her moaning about the amount of times the wheelchair is mentioned, she was in tears during the tardis ramp scene, great touch
Ncuti is absolutely perfect. He’s got the playfulness and joy and sparkle of brilliance that is crucial to a good Doctor. I can’t wait to see what he does with the role!!!
I was so, so excited when I saw him on the poster for a new episode. Such trepidation hoping that how much I liked him in _Sex Ed_ woud carry over to this role... expectations... BLOWN OUT OF THE WATER. What an amazing new Doc. I'm excited to see new episodes again! What a feeling >:D
@@KayserathePoetKillerwhen he teased us about being a thorn in the next doctor’s side only for that to be stripped away and put into a box. 🤔 I sure hope RTD brings him back somehow(with some1 breaking him out of the box and all cause NPH knocked it outta the park this special)
@@hanlee3345 If you ask my current opinion right now that I think Neil Patrick Harris loved being in the DW universe and he'll take any chance he gets and Russell being the clever man he is, will show us wonders. Well, we can always hope. Allons-y!
NPH was so good. His performance and the music alongside him sent shivers down my spine. Though, I am VERY excited for Ncuti. He's a Doctor that isn't weighed down by trauma left unprocessed. He's still got the memories, he's still got the pain. But, he's free to be himself. He brought SO much energy and I cannot wait for more!
Watching 15 hug and comfort 14 was deeply meaningful for me. It was almost like watching myself comfort my younger-self, telling them it will be ok eventually. That I won’t be depressed forever. The future will be better. And it is better.
Yeah but it was too fast. You can't insert massive character changes in a story without showing them take place. If you have a character who's been traumatised and then just shoot to "six months of therapy later..." then you've just skipped a major part of the story. Sure, they can that the Doctor has stopped and rested and let go of some of the baggage he was carrying, but if they don't devote a season or so of the show to that then it's meaningless to me as a viewer. I recognise it would be a bold and risky move for them to change the pace and themes of the show for a while, but if they really wanted to address this issue then that's what they should have done. We need to see the Doctor taking five; to have this time out with the Doctor, and then when he's ready to resume his adventure, we come with him. I'm still open to the prospect that the next season of Doctor Who will be a good one, but if the character's just going to go forward without having addressed the things he's seen (and which we've seen with him) and the people who have died, then it's a real disservice to the franchise so far.
@@iolairmuinnmalachybromham3103yeah but an important thing for the series is finding a way for viewers to stop obsessing over his version of the doctor, who yes is really good, but they need to move on from him fully, a full season of him would not do that, shows do skips all the time and it almost always works, they can’t keep on holding on to Tennant as the doctor because he’s not anymore
I love how pure of heart this show is. I grew up as a fan of the original series run & when the first episode of the new series began, I felt like 'oh, well that's nice, but I loved the original so much so I don't know if this is for me' and I was so wrong - this is so for everyone.
@@DonnaLang42rockgloballyI bet anything they will, I think they wrote this ending not just to give Tennant’s doctor a happy ending but also because as long as he’s alive and willing they can bring Tennant back whenever they want to
What a way to set up Mel in the new spinoff! Can't wait! And Donna is now working for UNIT? David, Gemma, Bonnie, and Catherine in a spinoff? Yes, please.
It sets Mel up certainly to be part of the UNIT spin off that was confirmed earlier this year. And they'll potentially have Tennant and Tate on call, though I wouldn't expect them to actually appear very often. I can't see either of them wanting to do too many guest spots... But - what amazing potential.
@@The_RedJoker there’s only so many accents you can have in English, who’s to say an accent from another planet can’t sound similar to a British accent. There’s a condition called foreign accent syndrome when someone develops a sudden different accent, usually after a stroke. It can sound like they have a Chinese accent or an American accent or wherever, but it’s not like they’re actually replicating that accent, it just happens to sound similar to that accent.
Ncuti is already exceeding my expectations! I was so excited when I heard that he had been cast, but the confidence, charisma, and sheer joy he's bringing to the role are a breath of fresh air. I'm so excited for Christmas!
Funny how the toymaker is being used for a regeneration story now, when he was actually originally going to be how they explained how the first doctor would change before they came up with regeneration
When 10 died he was alone and scared and he didn't wanna go. I think its quite nice that the second time around he doesn't have to go and he isn't alone in the universe anymore
I’ll admit I wasn’t too sure about the first two shows, but this last one brought it all back to me on why I have always loved Doctor Who. Thank you Russell. Thank you, very, very, very much! This is like going back to the house where you were raised as a child, and instead of it looking smaller, like it always does for everyone, in fact, it looks exactly as wonderful as you remember it.
Just how I felt! I was giddy after the final special. I felt like the 2nd half of Capaldi's and Jodi's doctors the writing just wasn't there and I was just no longer invested. I'm excited for the 15th doctor and giddy that I feel like a proper Whovian again, I missed that feeling.
@@BlackFox15 I know exactly what you mean. Although I do disagree with Peter not feeling like the doctor, imo he was excellent at making the doctor evolve but keep his same vision of the world at large. Jodi just didn't capture "The doctor". The last season felt like it was written by children sadly. These specials brought the passion and poise that makes dr who special
Seriously genetically blessed there. He has a scene in Good Omens 2 where he was standing on a chair then jumped off over its arm and we were all like "RIP to those knees i guess". But apparently not lol
Honestly, the way he goes, there's only two ways this can end for him: 1. Waking up 15 years from now, attempting to get out of bed, and immediately regretting his entire adulthood. 2. Be like Dick Van Dyke, who tap danced on TV at age 75 without a care in the world. He'll be the most annoying and spritely geriatric you've ever seen, making the young people jealous whilst simultaneously freaking out that he's about to break something. And then he'll be asked to appear as a guest star on yet another anniversary of DW, he'll ask if he can do something very physical and dangerous, and Georgia will just yell at whoever is producing at the time for encouraging him.
@@dragon_toad Further, about your number 2 - during the pandemic Dick Van Dyke did a music video dancing, including skipping around an ottoman reference from the Dick Van Dyke Show, in his 90s! He's amazing.
Gotta say, the bigeneration caught me off guard at first, but I honestly love it just because seeing Ncuti and David interact was incredible, plus we get a happy ending for David's Doctor which is amazing and did in fact make me cry a little bit
Wouldn't be surprised if RTD is setting up that UNIT spin off that's been rumored for a while. If that rumor is true, man i hope the McGann rumor is too. Though i doubt it.
@@Thundernerd2aBird I am an American, and even I could relate to that. American politics and British politics seem to share a certain dumpster fire quality
As someone who is disabled myself (though with autism/ADHD), seeing the story behind the wheelchair segment made it that much more impactful for me. Shirley was a joy to watch, I hope that means we get more disabled companions like her or Ryan someday. We need more disabled rep in media that’s not treated like a one-off character in a special episode or a stereotypical caricature, period.
Ye, the logistics of a companion character in a wheelchair could be a bit complicated (unless the doctor PIMPS that rude) but I hope it's a great way to show off the unique acting movement and humor disabled actors and writers have.
Companion? As an able bodied person I can honestly say I'd be perfectly happy to watch a doctor with a disability, easily explainable by a regeneration glitch! Think they could have a lot of fun exploring the possibilities and show the difficulties faced at the same time 😁
It was beautiful because the Doctor and Donna have such a familial relationship, bickering yet loving each other as one would their sibling. I'm so glad they've established that he's an honorary member of the Mott-Nobel-Temple family... he and "Mad Auntie Mel"! ^_^ I love it.
I was wondering how that was going to work as the Doctor and Donna were not romantic and Donna was married...but being like a brother to her and an uncle to Rose was perfect. Oh, and Sylvia relishing being the evil stepmom...just perfect...I thought that this should have been set at night so that Wilf would be off on his hill looking up...
@@vincentalbanese8582 Unfortunately the actor for Wilf, died before The Giggle started getting worked on. That's why you don't really see him at the end.
The Giggle was perfect. This was truly the first of these specials that felt like a celebration of 60 years of Doctor Who. It had all these great callbacks and mentions to so many character, most if not all of whom are no longer accessible to the Doctor like Amy and Rose Tyler. Is it wishful thinking to hope that no mention of Martha means Freema Agyeman will pop up again soon? Neil Patrick Harris was fantastic! I loved the switching of accents. Evil camp is always fun, especially when it’s as sinister as this was. And the “Spice Up Your Life” dance sequence. I still have no idea what the hell bi-generation means. I mean we heard from all the Doctors previously in the reboot that regeneration was super dodgy but making a whole new one is not a twist I was expecting! But this establishes that in a one-on-one-hundred-million-billion-billion chance, Time Lords can reproduce asexually. The end fight with the Toymaker had the frenetic pace of Ten's fight with the Sycorax way back in 2006. I loved Ncuti’s energy. He really felt like a showman, much more than the other Doctors previously. And because they said he processed his trauma, Fifteen seems like he’s going to be a Doctor who is having fun and not haunted by his dark deeds or running from something. Which is a Doctor RTD never gave himself the chance to write. And it looks like we have another RTD mystery box on our hand with the Meep’s Boss still left unanswered and I now the Toymaker mentioning a threat or a cosmic imbalance (I don’t remember the wording exactly). love that Fourteen’s costume got split between the two so Fifteen spends the entire episode in underwear! But because he got the shows, not only does Fourteen speed the entire 3rd act barefoot, which is hilarious and of itself, Fifteen feels even more naked. I love that they let Ncuti keep his true accent. I love that we didn’t have to say goodbye to Tennant again. Not really. That scene of him having lunch with Donna's family, really his family, was just perfect and I'm happy that his last words are technically "This is the happiest I've ever been in my life." You can really hear Tennant’s Scottish accent on “wheelchair accessible.” It really feels like they are setting up a UNIT spin-off. And I am here for it! I need it to be Kate, Shirley, Mel, and the Vlinx, whatever the hell that is and maybe Osgood (fingers crossed).
it crammed too much for me to process in 1 hour, should've been longer, like why was there a "biregeneration" or who is "the one who waits", why was mel glossed over so quickly, surely we should've spent more time with her, why was it so important for the humans to be fighting each other if they didn't matter at all in the story?
poor take imo. The giggle was disappointing. The toymaker was the best part of the episode, yet they minimised his danger. He makes the world go mad at the start and then it just isnt mentioned again. There was no connection to the threat he was imposing on humanity. Not enough of the toymaker, it needed more of him. Maybe having it be a 2 parter would've been better. The explanation as to why Tennants face returned wasn't explained. I would've liked the idea of the toymaker being the one bringing his face back and maybe linking it to a game the 10th doctor played, but instead the toymaker only appears because of the salt in episode 2? Making the toymaker be the reason why 10's face came back would also explain the clothes regeneration too. But nahh its just once again lazy writing, especially considering such a satisfying explanation being such a low hanging fruit. The Bi-regeneration is just timelord metacrisis 2.0, and surprise surprise its with tennant. Russel T Davies is just re-hashing the same old gimmicks as he did in the original series. You have to ask WHY are we keeping tennant around? Is it to maybe continue having adventures with tennant in doctor who spins offs? Well why not do adventures with the metacrisis doctor? Why are we duplicating him again?! Speaking of Russell re-hashing the same old gimmicks - the master and the gold tooth is just a copy of his last explanation as to how the master returns. Its nothing new, its nothing fresh, its just trying to catch lightning in a bottle for a second time, but accidentally setting the house on fire in the process. The whole 60th has ruined season 4s ending. The tragedy of donna's character is that she had to return back to her old life. It was tragic and sad, but poetic at the same time. Now, rewatching Journey's end, it has ruined the emotion and the tragedy of the character and that moment. The whole point of doctor who is making new stories and new adventures, not ruining old stories.
@@RoboDoesEditsI assume “the one who waits” will be a big plot line for the next season and RTD wanted to keep it mysterious. I really liked the episode, but I see your point that it could have been a bit longer
@robodoesedits8666 yeah exactly. They spent 45 with thr toymaker and spent 15 after the regeneration. The special should've been 1h30min long with more toymaker.
NPH is probably the only currently working actor that I know, that id be able to buy if they ever decided to do a fully american adaption of doctor who. He would be a great Doctor
Him, Nicholas Cage, and Bruce Campbell are the only living Americans I'd accept as the Doctor. I use "living" as a qualifier, because I would've also included the late Gene Wilder as well.
@@KevinTheTimeGeek86 if we were including the dead, Robin Williams would be on the list for sure. Think he was actually considered for the war doctor. Nicholas Cage......maybe. Bruce Campbell, really cant see it.
I feel like it shouldn't even be limited to an american spinoff, I mean it's already been established the doctor is an alien and isn't necessarily a specific race or sex, so why not different backgrounds/accents etc? I do think NPH would make a great doctor in any capacity
Ruth Madeley has me crying all over again now 🤣😭🙏🏻 It really truly means so much to see the representation and the accessible TARDIS. I’m so so thankful that it’s finally happening and so proud of Ruth for being part of that change 💜
There are not many actors for a villain who can match David Tennant as the Doctor...true, true Russel. He is the best Doctor there ever was and will be.
This set of specials is a true masterpiece, it's beautiful, it's moving, it's diverse, it's nostalgic, it's fun, it's insightful, it's compassionate, it's cathartic, it's healing, it's hopeful. It's better than I dared expect. I love every single person who contributed to this set of episodes and appreciate every minute of it.
I'm so glad David's doctor gets to live on with his family ❤ I must also give a shoutout to Neil Patrick Harris he put on a LEGENDARY performance as the Toymaker, he was without a shadow of doubt the best fit for the role. His entrance at Unit HQ was hilarious 😂
Masterful finale! I'm super excited for the future of this classic show. Ncuti Gatwa is going to be a terrific Doctor.Already love him, instant hit I feel. Him and Tennant together was great,. NPH just killed it, man. Flawless. Also, seeing Two Tardis was great, and then, Doctor (Tennant) telling his eyebrow story seated around the table /w Donna's family, was like his Doctor got a fitting end, well deserved. Make 'im the curator. We need more of Mel and other Classic Who companions. More of Ace and Tegan and even Jo. Katy Manning deserves to come back as Jo in Ncuti’s run.
The VLINKS being an unexplained thing that might contribute to a story later is such a good bit of RTD sci-fi. There were a couple drops like that in this episode- "The One Who Waits", along with the Toymaker's Legions, are two other concepts we're introduced to that we currently have no other information on, along with the hand that grabs the gold tooth. We also still don't know who "the boss" Meep mentions is.
Regeneration always makes me so sad. This was an amazing ending and a brilliant way to give the character peace. I wish my mom was alive to see it because she cried so hard when Tennant regenerated.
Oh, Russell, I am crying. Thank you so much for coming back to helm my favourite show. Thank you for listening to the actor who is disabled. Now I can dream about being in the Tardis in a pretend life. David is my favourite. I love it all. I love you. You are an amazing writer and person. Please don't ever leave. Take care. I am a Canadian. Thank you for giving us the Christmas Special again. I could go on about what this show means to me, but I would never stop. The only sadness I feel is losing Wilfred Mott/Bernard. He was the Grampa I never had in my life. I am not a child. I am 66 years old. I do have one regret-- my friend, Carlos died before he saw any these new shows, but may be he is watching anyway. Good bye for now.
Only in Doctor Who can you actually become your hero. Also, I like how this resembled the 10th Doctor’s first battle against the sicorax. I think this is gonna be a fantastic run.
As a nb person, I felt so happy that one of my favourite shows with these specials offered an open hand and said "We see you, and we welcome you to join us as an equal, as someone who is seen and someone who will not be judged". Thank you.
I love how RTD heard about the disability access issue and just went and fixed it. Didn't need to be begged or reminded incessantly, just made aware, and he fixed it.
This episode was an absolute, all-time classic. The first two episodes had their ups and downs, but this one was truly incredible from start to finish. I seriously can't wait to see what the future has in store!
in 1 hr 1 minute this episode summed up not only the UK but the world. So many disabled people will know that rant from Kate, thank god its finally been put mainstream. NPH was amazing, the scene with Donna in the room and how she dealt with it was the 1st time in a year I've laughed since Dad Died. Ncuti nailed it from the moment he appeared that's "I am the Doctor" moment it needs to happen within a short space of time, The music was just right For me this leaves the TARDIS door wide open either for a UNIT show or dare i say it a series of specials on Disney+ for DT/CT when the main show isnt on.
Me! ME! I'm a Disabled/wheelchair bound Whovian (a fan since 1976.) The ramp was a fantastic additional surprise. Let's hope the new Doctor will go and take Shirley Anne Bingham on a much earned trip in the TARDIS. 😄

Wow, The Giggle was definetly a ride. 😅 The Fourteenth Doctor at the dinner table with Donna & everyone. I loved how happy he was. 🥹 Bless him, I teared up. ❤❤➕🔷
It’s actually beautiful what Russel has done bringing different people together making people apart of it. Wheelchair accessible etc you don’t take these things for granted but yeah it’s great that other people can be apart of that.
I am so happy that the Doctor is getting a chance to heal, really heal, with his best friend. Whilst the Doctor, who is healed, is continuing the adventure. Yep. That was good. 👏🏻💙
This sincerely might just be one of my favourite episodes of the show, period. I’ll have to give it some time before entirely committing to that, but I can at least say that Neil Patrick Harris’s Celestial Toymaker most certainly is a new favourite. He captures everything you want in a Who villain; campy, menacing and ultimately just an absolute riot to watch! That dance sequence was just magnificently silly! And as for the story itself, I gotta say that twist at the end (I’ll try and stay spoiler-light, but maybe wait to read this next bit if you haven’t seen it), is actually something that really worked for me; despite the controversy in the fandom it’ll no doubt cause. It’s an anniversary, after all, so wrapping everything up in a nice little bow is honestly just a perfect send-off to me; I mean, as the characters literally pointed out, David Tennant’s Doctor has earned his swan-song! And Ncuti Gatwa… I already know I’m going to love his Doctor. We’ve never really had a Doctor (minus Christopher Eccleston’s 9 I suppose, due to his off-screen regeneration) introduced with such a definitive sense of who they are. And man do I like it. Comforting, vibrant and ultimately radiating fun: yeah, this guy’s gonna be good! So yeah, safe to say I loved it. As a whole, the 60th anniversary itself was not what I expected but, despite going into this episode with uncertainty on whether it could stick the landing, it gives me an innumerable amount of joy when I say that this gave me everything I wanted and more. Doctor Who is never going to be objectively perfect, but this is pretty damn perfect to me. Now, let’s bring on Christmas!!!!
The casual way that they all played in the catch scene, Neil just sliding the ball on the back of his hand to the palm with ease, David being very physical in a way we haven't really seen, and Ncuti just being so full of energy with a one handed cart wheel.
Can i just say the prop / puppet department is freaking killing it! Such amazing work! The robot last week, the puppets this week, such a joy to see!! One thing i really loved from rtd's first run was that they used a lot of puppets (dalek-squids, face of boe, etc.) which are always gonna feel more grounded than cgi-enemies, for example chibnals cgi-dalek-squids looked good but i still prefer the prop versions. That being said, the vfx-department also is also doing a fantastic job, i feel like both are working together really well :)
I was a bit hesitant with the first two specials, but I think this one was amazing! Ncuti killed it as the new fresh doctor and I loved Patrick as the toymaker. I do want to point out that this is the second time there is another David Tenant in existence cannonicly simultaniously with the "main" Docter. Not that I'm complaining.
Thank you for coming back! I’ve tried for years to watch the last doctor, fell asleep to it three times this week trying to understand the flux. It’s so nice to be obsessed with the doctor again. ❤
Great work from Bonnie Langford - so often the classic companions are brought back and, with the best will in the world, their style of acting just isn't adapted to the new format and style of the show, but she really picked up what Russell and the directing team were putting down. Nailed it.
I personally think The Giggle was a great special. My favourite of the three. Loved seeing Mel, Neil Patrick Harris was great as the Toymaker, David & Catherine were great as always. It was fun. ♥ ♥ ♥
This episode couldn’t have made me happier. I love David as the Doctor and so happy how his story has settled. But now I’m ready to take off with Ncuti and enjoy the next chapter with The Doctor 💜
My heart is still dancing over this episode. I was so happy I couldn't stop screaming and clapping. My husband was grinning from ear to ear and laughing at me but he was just as pleased. RTD, you seriously knocked this one out of the park!
now the doctors are split, i assume the first doc will fine his way to her and live out the rest of the days there, she's the face she'll prefer (notice in the five doctors she treats the others as strangers)
You've heard of a triple threat, not get ready for a quadruple threat. He can sing, he can dance, he can act, he can bend reality to his every whim and makes a terrifying villain.
Just here for the history 🎉 Haven't felt auch joy from Doctor Who for six years now. I was ok with the Star Beast, impressed but wanted more with Wild Blue Yonder and the Giggle really felt like special. Thank you Russell, David and all the team and good luck to Ncuti - can't wait for him to meet Millie!
As a wheelchair user I've always wondered how I'd fit into this amazing world. To know the Tardis will be wheelchair assesible makes me really happy as a who fan and I'll be excited to see how someone like myself can travel with the Dr. as it'll make me feel even more connected within the show. Love that they made the sets accessible instead of casting someone able bodied into a chair too it's just brilliant. The world we live in is already difficult to access at the best of times so having a world I love be what even our reality seems to lack so often really goes beyond words.
David Tennant's Doctor(s) finally getting the family they deserve is the best way a story arc can end. After the Tylers, after the Joneses, after Joan Redfern, even after the Ponds, he can finally rest and be a part of a family... with maybe some Big Finish stories along the way.
Sometimes there are episodes where everything just comes together perfectly, fantastic villain, great story line, bonkers ideas, as many questions raised as answered and so much love! The highest compliment I can pay is that this episode is in my top 10 of all time!! Welcome to the 21st Century Doctor ❤

Oh that would be so poetic
it would be the perfect conclusion to the curator actually. we never knew how the curator came to be. But this here would explain everything.
When I saw the bi-generation occurred I immediately thought this as well.
Literally that’s what I was thinking!!!! It makes sense 🙌🙌🙌
I would LOVE this so much.
Perfect...
14: Hmm im probably doing something about it as we speak..well not me,.Me but Me.
loud explosion, ship warps away*
14: See? problem solved!

The life size marionette being practical took me by surprise, I definitely thought they did the whole thing with CGI. Really well done!
It was also LEGIT creepy 😖
couldn’t agree more; in every one of these specials there’s something that shocked me to find out it was practical! first the meep, then the arms, now the puppet!
I'm _so_ excited to have RTD back if only for his love of practical effects. Obviously for more reasons, but I just _love_ practical effects.

The Best CGI ... mostly isn't CGI ..
I love hearing the story about the fan in a wheelchair causing Russell to add the ramp to the TARDIS. Because the whole point of the show is imagining that anybody could be whisked away on an adventure with the Doctor

I love how David Tennant’s doctors have respectively had the saddest and happiest endings. And then there was his clone who also had a happy ending. The 15th Doctor is going to be amazing

As a wheelchair user who can go to the boot and get my chair out with the aid of a stick I have experienced the sort of thing you did and it's horrible 🤗

@@d_jedi1 I didn’t know that
@@rachelcookie321 it's an old story thread from the 1980s.
I see what you did there
"...while 15 gets to fly around and be a madman with a box."
So Matt Smith is my favorite Doctor... but yes, 15 comes off as a more emotionally intelligent version of 11, and that's why I'm almost certain he'll become my new favorite Doctor.
Keep in mind: they could „reactivate“ David Tennant for individual (maybe special) episodes now without any problems whatsoever.

This episode was as the 9th doctor said FANTASTIC

So many disabled people will know that rant from Kate, thank god
its finally been put mainstream. NPH was amazing, the scene with Donna in the room
and how she dealt with it was the 1st time in a year I've laughed since Dad Died.
Ncuti nailed it from the moment he appeared that's "I am the Doctor" moment
it needs to happen within a short space of time, The music was just right
For me this leaves the TARDIS door wide open either for a UNIT show or dare i say it
a series of specials on Disney+ for DT/CT when the main show isnt on.
Me! ME! I'm a Disabled/wheelchair bound Whovian (a fan since 1976.) The ramp was a fantastic additional surprise. Let's hope the new Doctor will go and take Shirley Anne Bingham on a much earned trip in the TARDIS. 😄
I loved this episode and all three so much! So different from the 50th anniversary special which was amazing too, but this is why Doctor who is the best show on tv! It changes ans grows and has decades of history and nostalgia. I can't wait to see whats coming! ❤❤❤
Wow, The Giggle was definetly a ride. 😅 The Fourteenth Doctor at the dinner table with Donna & everyone. I loved how happy he was. 🥹 Bless him, I teared up. ❤❤➕🔷
So lovely to see Ncuti's title card read. Welcome Fifteen! Lovely to have you.
This was such a backdoor pilot for that rumored UNIT spinoff. I can feel it in my bones.
It’s actually beautiful what Russel has done bringing different people together making people apart of it. Wheelchair accessible etc you don’t take these things for granted but yeah it’s great that other people can be apart of that.
Jon pertwees regeneration mentioned this eyebrow story when commenting on his own eyebrows! Spot on Continuity!
I am so happy that the Doctor is getting a chance to heal, really heal, with his best friend. Whilst the Doctor, who is healed, is continuing the adventure. Yep. That was good. 👏🏻💙
I didn’t realize it this episode sets up so much. “The One Who Waits, Toymakers legions, the Unit show, the Master. The future looks bright
Now, let’s bring on Christmas!!!!
there have been so many brilliant episodes of New-Who, but I do think this is one of the absolute best.
I agree ❤❤
Ncuti finally got his "Don't forget to click below..." moment for one of these bts videos, truly an iconic tradition at this point lmao
Ncuti
Thank you for coming back! I’ve tried for years to watch the last doctor, fell asleep to it three times this week trying to understand the flux. It’s so nice to be obsessed with the doctor again. ❤
I never thought that the Doctor would be able to split its bodies during the regeneration/bigeneration. I was bursting of joy and excitement 🤩🤩
I absolutely loved all of the specials. This last one was definitely the best. I loved seeing David come back.
Tennant: "I was going to do the one-handed cartwheel" "Mine is a bit better than his". lol!
I love the wheelchair accessible TARDIS, because of course the Tardis would allow access like that. If The Tardis wants you on board, you're on board
My heart is still dancing over this episode. I was so happy I couldn't stop screaming and clapping. My husband was grinning from ear to ear and laughing at me but he was just as pleased. RTD, you seriously knocked this one out of the park!
Oh
I was really hoping Susan would show up at the end, as it would have been the perfect cap for the family. Even so, great and fun episode.
Susan is in the future. 22nd century. Still should could show up at any point
@@mazzucac she died in the time war.
now the doctors are split, i assume the first doc will fine his way to her and live out the rest of the days there, she's the face she'll prefer (notice in the five doctors she treats the others as strangers)
When he did the puppet show and kept saying, "Well that's okay then!" - that was SUCH an amazing bit.
This episode had so much, I haven't been this excited about a Doctor Who episode in a while, even though I loved the last couple of seasons!
Thank you so, so much for giving David's Doctor rest and peace and love.
You've heard of a triple threat, not get ready for a quadruple threat. He can sing, he can dance, he can act, he can bend reality to his every whim and makes a terrifying villain.
One of my favourite Dr who episodes and I've watched since the first wheeping angle episode
Just here for the history 🎉
Haven't felt auch joy from Doctor Who for six years now.
Neil Patrick Harris was hilarious as The Toymaker. Especially that scene of him dancing to Spice up your life. Gave The Master a run for his money.
I already like the energy Ncuti brought to the episode. Gonna have some fun episodes down the line.
David Tennant's Doctor getting a happy life, that just feels so good.
The combination of practical and vfx is just sooooo gooooood
David Tennant, the only Doc to regenerate 3 times.
God I love Neil's acting as the Toymaker so much. Such talent, expressiveness and the accents just marvelous!
