@@jimmyk2001 The fact that it got a case of the squeaks as soon as it made it to the other side means it was toast right off the bat. That means it’s got a bunch of S-shaped rods in it at that point. Variable compression the hard way.

I hear Tesco deliver water chestnuts, watercress, water melons, water biscuits and bottled water. What I didn’t know, is how Tesco introduced the water into these food stuffs.
Even the cars that got through will develop faults later down the line including the electric ones, so many sensors these days.

They're not particularly low (at least not on the 3 series) but they are right at the front behind the grille. If you follow the instructions in the handbook that nobody reads a 3 series can ford 25cm deep water at 5 km/h MAX. If you're a typical BMW driver you don't read the handbook, charge in developing a huge bow wave that completely fills the air intake and SPLAT! Note the 3 series that _did_ make it by going slowly (6:46) keeping the water below the grille, and that was definitely more than the 25 cm they specify as OK.

It’s funny how some of the correctly driven cars make it so easy. Not the landrovers that are made for it, but the small ones where it doesn’t go over the bonnet and they ride the bow wave perfectly. Still a high risk game mind you.
Moving serenely through the water with a nice little bow wave ahead makes you look infinitely cooler than plunging straight in.
The engine might make it through OK, but all the grease has been rinsed out of the wheel hubs. Couple of weeks, then bye bye bearings.
The red BMW gave up STRAIGHT away...and I seriously do not understand the mini driver going through that much water with window down...

How did that VW van at 5 mins in stop? The air intake is at the top, water shouldn't have reached that the way they were driving... unless there is a leak in the air intake pipework? Or was it just electrical.
And these are the the types of people who would laugh at lorry drivers for getting stuck or hitting bridges.

Prats that drive through that amount of water need to have zero insurance pay offs. It's literally taking money from our bank accounts, the insurance companies won't take the hit.
