    Trying to draw 15 amps will destroy the pot. Trying to produce any voltage much less than the supply voltage, at anything approaching 15 amps will destroy the transistor. It's been a long time since I saw someone misuse a transistor/heat sink like this one. For heaven's sake, mount the transistor the way it's intended.

    Zafer showed the potentiometer value as 220k. That's much too much - the pot should be less , maybe 10k or 2k. Also the center lead of the pot should be connected to the power transistor's base with a 470 ohm resistor. The tan wire will allow the high current to go through the pot when it is turned to the end, damaging the pot and burning out the base of the transistor. Thanks for the video.

    I think your transistor is case grounded, if so isn’t the heat sink carrying voltage? Unless you intentionally use hot glue as insulator. Just curious. ✌️

    Thank You for this simply thing.
    I have a U and I regulated power supply with an outside mounted 2N3055 on a cool rips..with lowest Output Voltage (=max Voltage at the transitor) and max. Out current, after few minutes ..hot cool rips...and they are three times larger than this shown in this clip.

      Hello Frank take Darlington MJ 11016 ISC, to find at Reichelt Germany, is 30A 120V heavy duty, but alucooler as big as possible 73s!

    That upside down mounted 2N3055 will not make a good thermal contact with the Heatsink. So there is no way it is going to give you 15AMP.

      It'll give you 15A, but maybe not indefinitely.

      @@jamess1787 absolutely true. You never as a rule mount a to3 package by its top cover. Thermally a 2mm plate has been given for heat dissipation. Novel idea but totally against physical principles

    Maximum 4A possible, MJ2955 is pnp and has low Beta, 2N3055 is npn and it’s Beta is better, but for 5A you take better darlington TIP120 npn or TIP 125 pnp with Beta abt 1000, for 10A take 2 in parallel with 2 emitter resistors 0R1, bases and collectors each wired together, collectors in, emitters wired out, bases control, poti only 50 mA max current
    The best solution is the Darlington MJ 11016 ISC with 30A current max and 120V E/C (!) to be found at Reichelt Germany abt € 4.00

    Hocam peki bu transistörün base akimi yüksek olduğundan bu pot bozulmasın araya bir transistör koyup aynı zamanda amper ayarı yapılabilir mi yoksa o zaman illa lm317de mi kullanmak gerekiyor.

    will this work when I set an 3.3V and I want to get 10A from that voltage control? there will be almost 56V drop on transistor under 10A current. not too comfortable workspace for a transistor

      The total power disipation can be calculated by substracting V input minus V output times the sinking amperes. It is hard to find a power transistor that withstands such parameters.

    You are smart electronics, Mister. But don't show to young enthusiasts which watching you videos this things: it's bad idea to mount elements at radiator using hot glue. And silicon structure of transistor is mounted at thick part of chassis for better cooling so it's impossible to work your regulator with 15A current with transistor mounted "head" to heatsink...

    There is no way on God's great earth that transistor can deliver 15Amps.
    I once used hot glue to fix my car's muffler and radiator, works like a charm.

      15A is the spec of transistor if he keeps the case temperature @25 C. He does not consider the dissipation of the transistor, Pd=Vce x Ie

    all semiconductors are governed by their dissipation power the 2n3055 is 115 watts and not by their maximum voltage and current tolerances 60v x 15 amp is 900 watts 8 times more than the 2n3055 supports.

    Sir wuld that circuet work for controling alternator voltage regulator?
    The thing is I like to use plasma ignition😅 on my ignition coil ordinary ceramic 3kw capacitors in series on + coil side and simply ground other side .
    The effect on my delco 12si alternator is that the cutt in current or some peopel call it starting charge rpm get swaped around .
    So my alternator is constantly back feading true the dash bulb on normal idel engine speed so I must increase the engine rpm to shut the bulb off at around 3000-4000rpm my alternator charges normali.
    So any one has idea how I can counter that effect???
    I suspect my alternator voltage regulator is also ground voltage controled .
    So honestly I dono how to fix this problem some peopel sugested resistor/capacitor box some say cloosed loop voltage regulator some phase shifting Im realy confused what to do Im cinde of desperate 😅

Ancak genelde transistörlerin devre şemelarına bakarsan E'lerde ok işareti vardır ve genelde yük yani led C tarafına bağlanır. Ancak ses vb devrelerde bu bağlantı ters olabilir. Sonuç olarak bir transistörde bir led uygulaması yaparsan ledi C ya da Eye bağladında sonucun değişmediğini görürsün bu nedenle de hiç tanımadığın birine bunu sen de biliyorsun diyerek (benim ne bilip ne bilmediğimi sen nereden biliyorsun) vb ya da az bildiğin konularda ukalık yapma.

    The maximum Power-loss by the Transistor can be 115 Watt. This means that for example at 30 Volts a current of 3.8 Ampere cannot be exceeded!!!
    The Transistor itself IS a very old and today Not powerful Item which should Not BE used in new Designs.
