Good review. I got the ZV-E10 just for fun, and that means going to birthday parties, holidays and going places where I don't want to carry a heavy camera, like my A7R3. Once you get the camera, you will realize it is more than the sum of its parts. Also, for an extra $100, get that kit lens. It will come in handy, especially in daylight at the park, city, anywhere.
Then, wouldn't it be better a phone ? Bearing in mind it is just for fun... I mean ; I m deciding to buy a cam and I m keen on this reference but..... My issue is a good smart phone or this cam ? ...I want to have pictures from my family and places
@@juandavidgrisales8250 phone camera will get a better picture if you just point and shoot, but if you planning to edit it, a dedicated camera like ZVE10 will have more flexibility if you shoot with raw
I bought it a year ago for video in the studio, but eventually started taking stills and the photos are amazing. It’s too small in the hands so I got a cage for a sure grip. It now has a full frame Sigma I-series lens with an aperture ring. Best camera/lens I’ve had and the price was right. But make sure you study that manual. Good informative review, especially because you bring up the negatives for this product. Kudos.
It's a great camera for its price and footprint. May not be adequate for professionals but for beginners and everyday usage it packs a stellar performance. I have been using it for travel photography the past year, fully satisfied.
I’m a newcomer when it comes to the camera world, have had one for about a week and to be honest, I am loving it so far! Continuing to learn new techniques and finally attempting manual change of inputs!
I have a ZV-E10 and i love it! I use it mostly for photos, but i'm hoping to learn more about video this year. I wish I could get an A6700, but in reality the ZV-E10 is more than enough for me.
I've had the ZV E10 since it was introduced. Out of curiosity I bought the 6700 and tested both cameras with the Sigma 56 1.4. I didn't see any differences in quality in the photos. I sent the 6700 back.
As a start-up content creator, this was very helpful. Thank you for your 2 cents opinion 😄. I'm definitely getting one for myself as I'm on a tight budget, it should get the job done 😁. It's quiet pricey this side ($799 here in South Africa) so I'm sure the alternatives have skyrocketing prices.

Great review update. I have had my ZV E10 for about 6 months now and it's awesome. I enjoy your content and it helps me out with settings since I'm new to a true camera and just not a cellphone camera. Thanks again Stan 👍
Lens is super important though. Yesterday my friends S23 beaten my kitlens on low light zoom situation. Kit lenses suck at low light, worse then smaller mobile cams.
Duude, some of the cons are the reason I didn’t like the camera & sold it & got the ZV-E1! Only had the camera for 11 months. There were other reasons I upgraded though, of course. 7:54 Right?? Preach! 🙌🏼 Dude
I ended up getting the Sony ZVE10 switching from owning a Canon RP with it's kit lens for 2 and a half years (ended up also affording the Sigma 30 mm 1.4 prime lens with the sell). Gotta say it's a very compact but nice camera, I do like the color science from the Sony more than the Canon, not sure why I didn't get it sooner! Thanks for the review.
Hey Bro, I'm using ZVE10 from last 9 months, camera is decent but for indoor not for outdoor, outdoor video quality is not upto the mark definitely you will disappointed after the result.
@@maheshdhfm5626what do you even mean? I have been using it with the kit lens for 2 years now and outdoor video quality is always better than indoor as long as the sun is still there (mostly because the kit lens is not that good in low light) the 2 downside of the zv e10 is the LCD screen is not bright enough and the rolling shutter when panning the camera horizontally but it can be fix post filming.
I knew right away that you are in Germany or Austria... I just spent 2 years in Munich and I recognize the buildings right away! I cant wait to go back here soon!
If your using the cheap camera as a B camera and a C camera why not just use it as a primary camera? I mean no one will be able you tell the difference not even a professional. It’s not like we are dealing with Charlie Chaplin film camera or some really old digital camera from the early 2000. We are talking about modern sensor. I think nowadays it’s more about lenses and talent.
Nice review, but Sony advertises this as the Interchangeable-lens VLOG camera. There is no need for the EVF for those who use it for its intended purpose: vlogging. People want too much in entry-level camera these days. If you truly need an EVF, then you need to shell out more money for the Sony RX100vii. The ZVE10 for under $1000 CAD is amazing value and still a great choice today.
nice comprehensive video, I have Sony HX90V and I'm happy with it for that 30x optical zoom (up to 720mm!) I wish for a compact camera that is good for photography AND video
I always use the screen on mirrorless camera because of better battery draw then EVF. The EVF will kill your battery way faster. The Autofocus is already amazing so you really just need to focus on compositing the shot. I don't see the benefit on using the EVF unless it's super bright outside which is rarely the case. Back before mirrorless I'd use the eye viewfinder to save battery but now EVF just use more battery than the LCD screen so it's really no point. The articulation is much more useful for photography than the EVF because it can help you get high and low angle much better.
It’s an awesome camera but be careful. Had mine for less than a year and out of nowhere it just stopped working. Won’t turn on or anything. Was great while it lasted though.
I have this cam, and the lack of EVF is nonsensical especially if you use a screen hood, or the IEM app for these things. Also, best case use for SLog 3 is at night, that way you can get more from the sensor. This is why you overexpose. Studio shots, aren't meant for Slog profiles.
Thanks for such a comprehensive review - I have just been recommended this camera and am on the way to check it out in-store, but I have one question that I was unable to find the answer to: I am planning on using it mostly to use as a second camera for auxilliary shots when making music videos but as a main camera for filming gigs from onstage (drum kit content) - how would it handle live audio? And, is there an option for an external mic, as I would be worried about sound distortion? finally, given the camera would be placed on the stage and mostly capturing drums is an additional lense a must buy or just a more useful option to have? Thank you.
hello, I'm torn between two cameras and I need your help. Canon EOS R50? Or Sony Alpha ZV-E10L? What will I use it for? I will shoot both day and evening during camping shoots, I will also shoot videos with DJI RS 3 Mini so that there is no shake, I will also shoot drinks and food in cafes, I will buy it for my work. I don't know which one will be more useful to me.
1. Streaming via USB-C is useless "if you want to use this camera as a high-quality webcam." It introduces a visible lag with the audio. A cheap HDMI video capture USB device will do a much better job. 2. It overheats. Even if you set the shut-off temperature in the settings to high, it eventually overheats and shuts off when you film long videos.
I am primarily a Nikon user from time of film and currently using Z6 Mark II. I am looking for a budget a camera to record Concert Shoots or conference shoot where I need a continuous recording i.e. should not manually intervene every 30 minutes. And Camera will be primarily put on a tripod. Initially I was thinking of a Camcorder but the 1/2.3” sensor size is not worth. I have rarely used an APS-C sensor. S-Log3 works better on ZV-E10, you just have to know how the Log conversion works in Davinci Resolve, and you can export that LUT to OBS. For green screen S-Log3 works perfectly. If you have a bright sky with dimly lit area, you will get color banding, but if you are in a studio you can cut off all of those outdoor light values and use S-Log3 and it's about 9-bit, which will works great for green screen.
You are basically saying "as long as you don't have a shot with a wide dynamic range, you can use this feature whose purpose is to be able to capture a wide dynamic range". You kind of have to face the fact that the idea of log is to compress the captured data into a smaller band, and if your digital storage doesn't have enough bits to store that data in a compressed way, you aren't going to be able to expand it back out in post. It just fundamentally doesn't work. You can't increase the number of bits used to store color data on the card, it is a property of the hardware.
@@geometerfpv2804 You mean High Dynamic Range. Wide Dynamic Range is an exposure trick where you take one picture with low exposure and another with high explore and average the pixels. 8-bit log is 8-bits, but it's as good as 10-bit SLog, it's LIKE 9 bits of dynamic range. It's not a property of the hardware, all of that stuff is software, even if it has a hardware encoder. All of it can be done and is one in software. With log you can chose to expose to the left or expose to the right, or expose to the center. You can either capture the shadows and lose the highlights or vice versa, or you can lose some of the shadows and some of the highlights.
Late reply, but after looking at all of the options, R50 is a downgrade and E10 does almost everything better in both photo and video according to owners.
I just got it as an upgrade to my Sony Zv1. Just unboxed it yesterday but I’m still trying to figure it out plus I got the lens 30mm f1.4. Do you have any tutorials on this?
It's crazy to me that people treat the digital stabilization as a bad thing. It looks almost exactly like a gimbal, and with no extra hardware. It's pretty incredible. Sony IBIS doesn't get anywhere near that level of stabilization, it looks very similar to OSS. The digital stabilization is much, much better. I don't know why people act like its a downside, its the main reason to get this camera. The next camera up with a gyro is the 6700 which costs more than twice as much. IBIS is a photography feature. It does not adequately stabilize video. You need digital anyway, in which case you would need to disable IBIS, so it's kind of a useless feature for video.
Regarding the battery life (at 6:40) doesn't it have a USB connection that can power the camera for an unlimited time? I'm looking to use this as a streaming camera predominantly (from a tripod), how long can it go without overheating while being USB powered? (HDMI out going into an ATEM Mini switcher)
I've heard different stories regarding overheating with some ppl streaming over 8 hours with no issues. I can't really tell since I dont have experience with this, sorry!
By the way, I actually have had 0 issues with overheating, but then again, I generally either stream (so 1080p), or record at 60fps (again, 1080 is the max).
Honestly, I'd rather have a camcorder since it's basically for video recording minus the battery life issues. Too bad Sony hasn't updated many of it's consumer camcorders. I do hope to see at least one with ZV or FX features crammed into a smal portable camcorder.
Can I use this as my main camera to create travel (Tourism and Festival) video for my TH-cam Channel as I'm now starting? If not, any budget one recommend will be appreciated
IBIS doesn't do much of anything for video. You really need digital stabilization, in which case you would turn off IBIS anyway. Look up a comparison video of video shot with Sony IBIS vs OSS vs. digital. IBIS and OSS look almost exactly the same, digital looks like a gimbal. IBIS is a photography feature: it makes zoomed photos or photos at slower shutter speeds come out sharp. It does not stabilize video in any significant way.
Can someone tell me why my zve10 only has 24p 50 m and 30p 50m and no 24 or 30 100m recording setting? I have zve10with tamron and in 4k i can shoot 24p 100m but in HD only 24 50m

Hey bro👋🏻 i have also feiyutech scorp mini 2, but my footage is still shaky while i’m walking (i use zv-e10 with sigma 16 f/1.4) are there any recommendations about it? i shoot vertically
Hard to tell... a gimbal doesn't compensate up down. As in if you're walking, you still need to minimize the impact of your steps as these will still show.
I tested out this camera and others using the Crane M3 and it worked fantastically. Try holding the gimble in a variety of ways to minimize movement you make when walking. I had no trouble, just play with it until you get it steady.

I am, I have a sigma 30 f1.4 and a sigma 24-70 f2.8. my 24-70 is a full frame lense that works great with the ZVE10 body.
Can I use this as my main camera to create travel (Tourism and Festival) video for my TH-cam Channel as I'm now starting? If not, any budget one recommend will be appreciated
Please suggested the lens for low light indoor TH-cam videos along with zv e10
How does Cannon EOS RP with Cannon RF35 F1.8 Lens to the Sony ZV-E10 with Sigma 16mm F1.4 Lens?
I'm considering to either to get this or the A6700
What could be an alternative for entry level photography camera?
The a6400 for example

I am a beginner in photography can i purchase this camera.I have only budget of 60k
Im thinking to buy zve10, But im confused should i buy zve10 now or should i wait for until zve10 mark ii release
Well, how urgently do you need the cam? My guess is that the zv-e10 ii might take another year...
Wait for mark ii. It will be released in Spring as per SonyAlphaRumors.
Spring of 25’
it would be nice to show us some footage.
Which picture profile is best for zv e10
Pp7 (s log 2) or pp 10 (hlg)
Zv e10 rolling shutter is terrible. Sold it and replaced it with the a6700. The osmo pocket 3 is better then the zv e10
Have heard that zve10 m2 will be out during feb-apr 2024
Can you link the gimbal u used? i don't see it in the description anywhere :(

is it goof for filmmaking?
Yes 😉
It’s pretty good for that, yes, but you’ll need audio gear as the built-in audio is kinda crap.
Just packed an order with the kit lens for under $700. I doubt I can get anywhere close to that for the MKII.
The main downside to the zv e10 is the lack of ibis.
Yea would definitely be better, but that would most certainely have increased the price of it...

Check out Mark Bennetts Camera Crisis. He loves his ZV-E10 and have many videos that help people learn how to use it.

Sure you can! 👍
Hi, looking for something to simply record teaching videos with maybe a dry erase board or something like that. The lectures will be up to 60 minutes. Would you recommend this camera?
Also, what lens would you suggest? Thanks
Hey bro👋🏻
i have also feiyutech scorp mini 2, but my footage is still shaky while i’m walking (i use zv-e10 with sigma 16 f/1.4) are there any recommendations about it? i shoot vertically
Definitely for video enthusiasts. No Viewfinder is an automatic NO. What a wasted potential.
Does it have Clean HDMI output??
почему такая мыльная картинка на zv10 ?????????????
🙌🏻👏🏻✌🏻
great video brother, I have been thinking about getting this camera for few months now. I make gaming videos tho. do check that out if you'll like horror games. I am gonna use this one for my studio( my room LOL). I think it is gonna be great. Whoever is reading this comment I hope your channel find success; the way you want it of course.✌
Thanks man! Good luck with your channel 👍
