@@zazyczech When you just open up the camera, it tends to tint the colors in the image just a little bit. It also over sharpens it, and does a few other things that aren't really ideal. When you look at a shot from the zve10 when you get it out of the box, there tends to be a bit of a tint to the color, and the image is a little too sharp. So these settings correct for that and make sure your footage looks as good as possible!
These are such helpful points, the content and quality of your videos are top notch! It would be great if you could do a video doing a deeper dive on the best lenses for the ZVe 10 (for people on a budget!). Keep up the great work!

At 1.00 your prime lens is very dirty, this could effect your end result , generally always have a UV and or variable ND on it for protection against scratching of lens and cheaper to replace than a expensive lens , 2nd the ND fliter helps with smoothing out should do any movement

MASSIVE oversight on my part not including more actual footage from the ZVe10 in this video! I'm working on a video now that's going to be sort of like a part 2 to this where we actually show WAY more footage from the camera. So if you want to see that, subscribe and stay tuned to the channel over the next month or two.
It appears the new ZVe10 Mark II is due out this year, perhaps in August 2024. There were rumors that production on this (ZVe10) camera was halted due to chip shortages. I'm not sure if they worked that out, but if not, it would make this camera hard to find.
Those chip shortages aren’t an issue anymore 😉 I’m not concerned about availability over the next 5-10 years on this camera unless something crazy happens. Can’t wait for the mkii though!
The biggest thing the ZVe10 has going for it that you don’t get in the r50 is digital stabilization. In the review of the zve10 that I just uploaded to my channel yesterday I said I lean away from using the digital stabilization in the zve10 which is true, but it is a feature that has saved me on a few occasions and something I definitely still appreciate. With the r50, you can enable stabilization on your lens which is better than nothing, but pales in comparison to how good the stabilization is in the Sony. With that said, these are very similar cameras in many ways. Ultimately, you have to remember than your camera isn’t what makes an incredible film. You do, regardless of what camera or equipment your using. My pick between the 2 would still be the zve10, but not so much because the zve10 is an objectively better camera (again they’re very similar). Rather I’d go with the zve10 because I feel like Sony is way ahead when it comes to the specs in they’re higher end cameras. Sony has been ahead in their specs since the a7iii dropped in 2017, but when the r5 and a7Siii were released in 2020 it really sealed the deal for me that Sony’s options were just ahead. Even the zve10 was released a full 18 months before canon’s compatible offer (the r50). When the zve10 came out, canon’s closest offering was the m50 and m50ii, neither of which were viable in 4k resolution especially when compared to the zve10. So overall I feel like the investment into Sony gear (and especially their lenses) is going to be a better one for the future. But with that said, both companies make great cameras and you’ll be able to make incredible films no matter which direction you decided to go. Again, your camera isn’t what makes an incredible film. You do!
I've been thinking about making a video about stabilization for the ZV-e10... I do talk a bit about it in this video though 😉 th-cam.com/video/argMyPU-ulg/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
So they’re going to be very comparable. I haven’t used the Viltrox personally, but I can definitely put a good word in for the Sigma as I’ve used it to shoot both films and tv commercials, among other things, and it always gives a solid image.
Is this an issue you’re having or just something you’re concerned about? My recommendations is to put the camera on a tripod, gimbal, monopod, or another form of stabilization. That should help you reduce the rolling shutter to essentially nothing as long as you aren’t shooting anything too intense like sports. 😉
These color settings will help make it so you have to make less corrections to color in editing. Usually all I have to do is correct the exposure a bit if I shot to dark, increase the contrast a bit, and/or warm up the color temp slightly. You may end up needing to tint the footage slightly towards magenta while editing as the camera does tend to run towards a green tint, but this won’t always be the case so you’ll just have to take it on a case my case basis.
Great video, thank you I intend on making green screen videos using Sony ZV e10, Will truly appreciate it if you could make a video with ZV e10 camera settings and lighting for green screen
Not my best work, but I made this a while back and unlisted it- in it I use my a7Siii but all the settings are completely the same except you’ll be shooting in 8 bit instead of 10 bit (which is totally fine). th-cam.com/video/wuis4_OLZ1A/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
It's my go too! Footage looks stellar! Keep an eye on the channel over the next day or two... I've got a short film coming out shortly that was all shot in a lower light situation with these settings and the footage looks INCREDIBLE.

Thanks for the answer. I will stay tune with the channel.
For me I’m def going to have to go with the ZVe10 for the sensor size and interchangeable lenses. Difficult for the image quality coming from the osmo to compete with the ZVe10. Compactness isn’t a huge concern for myself, but if you were using it for vlogging or travel videos I could see the appeal of the osmo. Just my 2 cents!
Outstanding! Meaningful and relevant. As I restart my channel I really want to learn lighting-from about 49-52 timestamp, the lighting you use with the all black background is superb. Especially how your face is lit and using the 2-lights behind you as props. Thanks a million for sharing. Peace.
Thank ya! Appreciate the kind words! For that shot with the black background, I’m just using 3 point lighting to light the shot, which is what I teach in the video! Also working on some more in depth lighting tutorials so stay tuned for that ;)
thank you for videos. i have a question if you don't mind. i used to have the inclination line or grid on the screen but then it disappeared, how can i find it again.
There is some text on the back of the camera right above the dial wheel that says DISP. If you hit up on the dial wheel, it will give you a new HUD with some different display features. If you keep hitting it, you will cycle through all the options. If that doesn't give you what you're wanting, please let me know! Happy to help. I'm not 100% sure what you're referring to by the inclination line so I might need a little more clarification on what you're looking for. Cheers!
Nope! But in my professional opinion I wouldn't worry about it (depending on what you normally shoot). If you want that feature you'll have to go with the a6700.
I definitely wouldn’t use it as a substitute for color correction / color grading. But imo it gives you a better starting point for doing your grade. Generally for most videos though, I don’t actually grade the footage. I just do a quick color correction and call it a day. When I’m editing a film I definitely do, or for big commercials I do. But for social media content (including my TH-cam videos) I pretty much never do.
Thanks ! Very helpful but also vey fast... If you ever get more time, would you mind explain what all these letters mean about the video settings ? Anyway, I'm glad your work ppoped up in the algorythm ;) Wish you the best
Glad I was able to help! The letter stand for color. Y for yellow, m for magenta, g for green, etc. When you get the zve10 out of the box, there tends to be a little bit of a tint to the footage. So these settings correct for that!
Grab the Sigma 28-55 f1.8 😉 You don’t get as much zoom range, but it’s the only lens on the market that has zoom capabilities and can drop the aperture below f2.8 all the way through the focal length
@@dongwarrenmusic 28-45! My bad on the typo. This is an APSC only lens, there’s no full frame equivalent for Sony Cameras. The best you can do is the Tamron or Samyang 35-150, which is f2 at 35 but increases to f2.8 as you zoom in. I’ve heard Sony is working on a full frame 24-70 f2 lens, but it will be the first of its kind for e mount.
@@dongwarrenmusic altogether I wouldn’t worry too much about stopping below f2.8 though, it’s really not necessary at all. You’ll be completely fine with a nice zoom lens at f2.8, and if you need a lower aperture for some specific reason then switch to a prime lens. That’s what most pros do 😉
@@VisionaryFilmStudios they might re design it asap at least 25-50, a division of 5, and maybe a little bit faster to f1.5. Then it will be the all rounder film making machine pair with CV-E10. 😆
Never personally used it, but I know Descript has that feature and it's what we use to do our subtitling for ads and that sort of thing. Pretty much all the audio we shoot is pretty controlled though, so never had a reason to test the feature. But pretty cool in concept!
@ 3:10 I heard where you said to get the prime lens Sigma 50 mm but the advertisement picture you posted was a 30mm?? I’m new to this hobby so which lens is the correct one to get?

@@VisionaryFilmStudios that 1:20 is what I want to achieve in my shot. I just bought this camera yesterday. I like all the comments hopesully pulls the algo
@@zupp.social gotcha! Yeah so that shot actually has very little color correction done to it at all. I’m just using the color settings shown later in the video, and am using basic three point lighting. Between those two things there wasn’t a lot of need for editing color in post.
Thanks!! I mainly use the Rode NTG3 for 90% of what I shoot for a given video, but I also use the Rode Video Mic Pro and Wireless Filmmaker Lavalier system when the NTG3 isn't the best option for the shot.
Hi! I found your video as I am considering to buy the ZVe10, and the research part of it is getting me a bit confused and indecisive, I've seen many things about the rolling shutter and it got me a bit worried. My main focus is filmmaking, but I'd also like to take good photos. Do you think it is apropriate for a beginner filmmaker to start shooting projects? Thanks!
Hey! To answer you're question directly, the ZVe10 is my number 1 camera recommendation for filmmakers looking to spend less that $2k on their camera! As far as the rolling shutter, if you do a lot of whip pans or handheld shots with no stabilization and that sort of thing you'll definitely see the rolling shutter come out in the footage. In the case of whip pans, the bit of distortion during the pan really doesn't matter to me personally- its only on for a few frames. When it comes to the handheld shots, I'd recommend not really shooting a lot of handheld shots on the ZVe10 with no stabilization- I'd use a monopod or a tripod or the active stabilization in the camera or a gimbal or something like that. Using any of those options, the rolling shutter really isn't even going to be something you ever notice while using the camera. When it comes to still photography, I've used it for some photography and the rolling shutter has never ruined a photo for me. Maybe if you're going to shoot a lot of high action events (like sports) it could present an issue for sure, but outside of that I wouldn't worry about it at all. Not to drop spoilers but... I'm actually in the process of shooting a short film on the ZVe10 right now that will release on this channel in a few weeks along with a TON of bts on how I made a film with the ZVe10. Haven't announced it anywhere yet though so keep that on the DL 😉
@@VisionaryFilmStudios Thanks for the fast reply! You gave me a lot of good info, now I'm more inclined towards buying it! One of my other concerns was the zoom, but I think that with the kit lens I'll be able to get some good shots. Once again, thank you for the in-depth explanation, I'm already subscribed and I'll be waiting for your new short film and bts footage for sure!
I tried your colour settings. I liked the look. I did find that when I shot on intelligent auto my blue eye colour was accurate but my eyes were more grey on these settings. It was a grittier look. Is that what you were after? Would a manual white balance make a difference?
Not going to lie- you might have a better eye for color than me XD My goal was to match the s Cinetone profile of Sonys higher end cameras. I shoot a lot on the a7Siii and a7iv and pretty exclusively use the s Cinetone profile, so I just wanted my e10 to match fairly easily. As far as white balance, I definitely recommend always using manual white as I feel like at least on this camera a human will always do better than the ai. Not sure how big of a difference that would make on your eye color though.
I am happy I discovered your channel. I learned so much in just 15 minutes watching this video. I immediately subscribed because I am new in video making and just purchased the Sony ZV-1 Mark 2. I heard it's better than the ZV E10. But I am learning how to make the best use of it for livestream and vlogging
DEFINITELY not “better” overall.. smdh..🤦🏽♂️ When you learn more about e-mount lenses and accessories, you’ll understand.. the lens is fixed with the e1. In terms of dynamic range and usability, it’s night and day in favor of the e10…I shot a complete nature documentary, with close-up shots that you would NEVER be able to get with your e1.. it’s great for point and shoot for TH-cam though.😂
can i ask you about picture profile i would use hlg2/bt2020 and then tranform to rec709 but ive seen your settings do you reccomend your and i have to use color space tranform or whit your is ok straight off the camera?
So if you’re comfortable with color correct and grading, shooting flatter and conveying to rec709 is fine, probably a little better. The goal of the color profile I talk about in the video is to match s cinetone in the more expensive Sony cameras. So it’s meant to look great right out of camera without a ton of color correction needed.
Which one would you recommend between the Canon Eos R100 with the 18-45 and 55-210 and the Sony ZV E10 with the 16-50 lens? I found both for the same price with those lenses included. It's for steady shots on a tripod, workout and vlog video's for instagram and youtube and what about the photography between the both with those lenses? Thanks in advance man
Both are great cameras! You'd save a little bit of money with the r100 (I wouldn't worry about getting the 55-210 for workout and vlog videos personally), and with the zve10 you get better auto focus in 4k mode and the ability to use it as a web cam if you want. Personally I'd go with the ZVe10, but either camera will give you some incredible footage (both photo and video). My recommendation? Make a decision quick and just start creating!

Happy 2024! So with 4k 30 you can slow it down to 80% speed, which definitely will give it a little bit of a dreamy look but won't look like you normally think of slow motion. To do real slow motion you'll have to do either 1080p 60fps (which you can slow to 40%) or 120fps (20%). Don't stress too much about the lower resolution though, in my experience the quality still looks awesome!
@@KikaruSatomi great question! Sort of depends on what you’re shooting. If you’re shooting a narrative film / short film, usually a normal 24fps is best. Then just use slow motion if you want to slow a moment down or emphasize something. If you’re shooting a bunch of b roll to turn into a hype video or something like that, I’d pretty much always shoot in slow motion so that you can choose when you’re editing what clips you want to be in slow motion and what you want in real time speed. As far as 60fps vs 120fps, it really just depends on the speed of what you’re shooting and how much you want to slow it down. I’ve found 60fps is perfect for most things and 120fps is great for special instances when you really want to drag something out or if you’re shooting something that happens really fast (like someone running for example. I actually made a video last year (2022) about shooting in slow motion! @@zazyczech When you just open up the camera, it tends to tint the colors in the image just a little bit. It also over sharpens it, and does a few other things that aren't really ideal. Does it overheat?
How long can you record a video before it shuts off / abrupt?
I have had some issues with overheating. After about 45 minutes of continuous recording in 4k it shut off on my in multiple instances due to overheating.
I did have heat temperature settings set to standard though. If you set them to high, I’ve heard people able to record continuously upwards of 6 hours without having an issue.

where / why are these settings chosen? (the ones in the backend, the rgb values estc) thanks
When you look at a shot from the zve10 when you get it out of the box, there tends to be a bit of a tint to the color, and the image is a little too sharp. So these settings correct for that and make sure your footage looks as good as possible!

MASSIVE oversight on my part not including more actual footage from the ZVe10 in this video!
What about this or canon r50?
You do!
This video is very helpful . I was wondering what color profile did you set up ? S log 2, 3 or HLG!
It’s a custom profile meant to mimic s cinetone 😉 but the base of it is cine4, not slog or hlg
You did not tell about the gimbal or stabilization if we want movement in shoot.
I've been thinking about making a video about stabilization for the ZV-e10...
I do talk a bit about it in this video though 😉 th-cam.com/video/argMyPU-ulg/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
Thanks for this video ❤
Which one of these lens has a better creamy bokeh effect for videography with Sony ZV-E10 camera ?
Sigma 30mm F.1.4
Viltrox 33mm F.1.4
So they’re going to be very comparable. I haven’t used the Viltrox personally, but I can definitely put a good word in for the Sigma as I’ve used it to shoot both films and tv commercials, among other things, and it always gives a solid image.
What to do with rolling shutter on videos? 😦
Is this an issue you’re having or just something you’re concerned about?
My recommendations is to put the camera on a tripod, gimbal, monopod, or another form of stabilization. That should help you reduce the rolling shutter to essentially nothing as long as you aren’t shooting anything too intense like sports. 😉
How to edit the result of the colour if i'm using ur camera settings ?
These color settings will help make it so you have to make less corrections to color in editing. Usually all I have to do is correct the exposure a bit if I shot to dark, increase the contrast a bit, and/or warm up the color temp slightly.
You may end up needing to tint the footage slightly towards magenta while editing as the camera does tend to run towards a green tint, but this won’t always be the case so you’ll just have to take it on a case my case basis.
Great video, thank you
I intend on making green screen videos using Sony ZV e10, Will truly appreciate it if you could make a video with ZV e10 camera settings and lighting for green screen
Not my best work, but I made this a while back and unlisted it- in it I use my a7Siii but all the settings are completely the same except you’ll be shooting in 8 bit instead of 10 bit (which is totally fine).

Osmo 4 cm VS ZVE10, debating due to compactness of Osmo4 ?
For me I’m def going to have to go with the ZVe10 for the sensor size and interchangeable lenses. Difficult for the image quality coming from the osmo to compete with the ZVe10. Compactness isn’t a huge concern for myself, but if you were using it for vlogging or travel videos I could see the appeal of the osmo. Just my 2 cents!

Hoping for 60fps in 4K. Can this camera acheive this?
Nope! But in my professional opinion I wouldn't worry about it (depending on what you normally shoot). If you want that feature you'll have to go with the a6700.
Awesome tips. I'll try the color settings. Is this for straight out of camera video and a substitute for LUTs and/or color grading?
I definitely wouldn’t use it as a substitute for color correction / color grading. But imo it gives you a better starting point for doing your grade.
Generally for most videos though, I don’t actually grade the footage. I just do a quick color correction and call it a day. When I’m editing a film I definitely do, or for big commercials I do. But for social media content (including my TH-cam videos) I pretty much never do.
Any chance these settings would work on the a6700?
Hmm, I'm not sure honestly... If you try it out though make sure to report back here! Would love to know the answer to that.
Then what lens has zoom and adjustable aperture. Any recommendations, prime+zoom lens in one.
Grab the Sigma 28-55 f1.8 😉
You don’t get as much zoom range, but it’s the only lens on the market that has zoom capabilities and can drop the aperture below f2.8 all the way through the focal length
@@VisionaryFilmStudios 28-55 or 45? Anyway, thank you. Can i use this lens for future full frame?
What do u think about the ai that can turn any voice recording into an audio that was made in the studio
Never personally used it, but I know Descript has that feature and it's what we use to do our subtitling for ads and that sort of thing. Pretty much all the audio we shoot is pretty controlled though, so never had a reason to test the feature. But pretty cool in concept!

I tried your colour settings. I liked the look. I did find that when I shot on intelligent auto my blue eye colour was accurate but my eyes were more grey on these settings. It was a grittier look. Is that what you were after? Would a manual white balance make a difference?
Not going to lie- you might have a better eye for color than me XD
My goal was to match the s Cinetone profile of Sonys higher end cameras.
I did like the look. Thanks so much for your help. I'm quite new to mirrorless.@@VisionaryFilmStudios

Good job on the video. Good information.

can i ask you about picture profile
i would use hlg2/bt2020 and then tranform to rec709
but ive seen your settings do you reccomend your and i have to use color space tranform or whit your is ok straight off the camera?
So if you’re comfortable with color correct and grading, shooting flatter and conveying to rec709 is fine, probably a little better.
The goal of the color profile I talk about in the video is to match s cinetone in the more expensive Sony cameras. So it’s meant to look great right out of camera without a ton of color correction needed.
Which one would you recommend between the Canon Eos R100 with the 18-45 and 55-210 and the Sony ZV E10 with the 16-50 lens? I found both for the same price with those lenses included. It's for steady shots on a tripod, workout and vlog video's for instagram and youtube
and what about the photography between the both with those lenses?
Thanks in advance man
Both are great cameras! You'd save a little bit of money with the r100 (I wouldn't worry about getting the 55-210 for workout and vlog videos personally), and with the zve10 you get better auto focus in 4k mode and the ability to use it as a web cam if you want. Personally I'd go with the ZVe10, but either camera will give you some incredible footage (both photo and video). My recommendation? Make a decision quick and just start creating!

Dude you’re awesome! 🔥
Appreciate that my friend 🔥🔥
Question. With the 4k 24fps, what if we want to slow it down the footage should we go to 4k 30fps 100m? Also happy new year!
@@VisionaryFilmStudios Thank you so much! What do you think is best for a cinematic feel?
