This nerd definitely would apply touch up paint on the grinded metal after shearing it. Just for rust protective measures, it is worth sealing. Nice taste!
Sasha and Jesse from MPP are easily the best in the business. You could have just dropped the entire top assembly as one piece instead of worrying about the 3 strut nuts, that's what I did when I put my MPP Coilovers and upper control arms on. Doesn't matter now though, you got it done :).
Mate, as a mechanic, the minute I heard you say “ let’s get a die-grinder here, it should be fun” and you told me you’re an engineer, it all made sense. Stick to drawing bud!!!
48:28 The reason why you should load the suspension before tightening the bolt is so you don't bind the bushings when the suspension is loaded. Factory bushings are like a rubber hinge. It can flex a little but will tear when pushed too far. Maybe the bushings are a sissy.
Also , just not so sure about rubber /poly bushings being great. Maybe less maintenance for people living in states with salts /mud ? I run all uniball pivots on upper and lower control arms , and there are zero issues with “vibration”. Also feels sharper and direct . I do live in so cal so I don’t worry about rusting steel heims/ uniballs.

I got air suspension. And the tank and management and compressors are in the frunk. Could I get away with not removing the frunk? Doing just the upper control arms
I mean sure, you don’t HAVE to tighten suspension at ride height. If you want the car to sit higher and bushings to wear out faster. But hey it’s a free country. 🤣
would it safe to put a normal jack stand under the suspension area (the grey color part .Not sure about the technical name. Lower control arm)? Tesla model 3 base model.
I'm about to do the same install when my car gets here in June. Is the upper mount A arm mount with the 4 bolts able to be unbolted with the shock and mount coming out as one piece instead? In theory this should mean the grinding to the chassis is avoided. Is this not the case? Something else in the way that I can't see?
Matt, as a fellow Porsche / Tesla nerd I can tell you that you didn’t have to worry about brake dust with the Tesla. Compared to steel brakes on a Porsche or BMW, there is almost no dust. Carbons on this car are just for the cool factor. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Don’t feel the need to apologize. You wanted them you got them. Totally unnecessary. But I bet you $1000 that all those guys complaining you didn’t need them would take them in a heartbeat.
@@Shiftheads If I was tracking, I’d certainly swap out the stock brakes. They aren’t good by all reports. I’d probably go steels but these seem pretty affordable.

Haha love seeing someone else struggle. Just did the control arms on the wife’s X5 this weekend. Although Seemed like a perfect time to do the carbon ceramics with everything all torn apart. Oh well. I stopped watching the video after watching you cut the holes larger, but I hope you at least put some paint on the raw metal edges that you created. If not, do it for the next owner.
Hi Matt, Very entertaining video. I was just wondering, you said you did not go with unplugged coilover and went with mountain pass because mountain pass uses KW. How come you did not go straight using KW for the Model 3? I'm just curious.
Hello Matt, Have been watching your channel for years now and really learned a lot from all your videos. Couldn't help but notice that you put the upper control arm bolt backwards ( @19:20 vs. @40:50 ), not sure if the "Bolt Slot" is at the middle point of the bolt or not and if it grips the pin the same way. In case you already changed it.....my bad.
I have a 2015 m3 that I bought brand new and it is dialed in. I am on house arrest as a result to prove it. I am a long time subscriber and I want you guys to raffle my car
This rides much better than stock. Speaking from experience. The kw coilovers don't have that rigid feeling over small bumps like stock. They feel like they take the bump and keep the traction instead of skipping across if that makes sense. Just a more planted feel.

Finally the Tesla modding can begin. Nice surprise on Saturday afternoon.
Begin? It's been going for some time now. Mountain Pass Performance makes great components.

For future reference you can put a socket on an impact and spin it while hitting it with an angle grinder to evenly grind down the OD of the socket...
Nothing says "Real Man" like the world's tiniest grinder.
Lol
Sasha from Mountain pass is a hardcore race car driver and tuner. I would trust them over any other guys when it comes to tuning.
Instant classic. Even spicier and funnier than the Active video. So enjoyable.
Thanks for taking the time to make and post this video. I wanted to get a look into how the suspension is setup and this videos delivered perfectly.

the camber shim is a pretty slick idea.
The whole grinder ordeal deserves some type of award.
The unknown hole on the upper control arm is for hanging during blue aluminum anodizing coating process.

Mountain Pass is doing really cool things for an independent motorsports engineering company.

I'm pretty sure that would be a really bad idea. You'd want to get a set of JackPoint Jackstands.

Why didn’t he just grind down the socket?
What's the model of the right angle impact wrench that you are using at 19:54?
