    Type 1: JTAC must be able to observe target and aircraft on run in.
    Type 2: JTAC does not need to observe target or aircraft, can use targeting data from other entities such as Forward Observers, drones, etc.
    Type 3: Can give clearance for multiple targets to multiple aircraft, no need to observe, within a set of parameters(time, locations).

      To clarify just a bit on where these would be used. Examples below (obviously not only limited to these examples):
      T1 - JTAC doesn't have accurate grids. Uses Target-Talk On for target acquisition. Observes target and attacking a/c to assess attack geometry to give clearance once certain the pilot is honing in on the correct target based on that assessment.
      T2 - JTAC is suppressed by enemy and unable to observe said target. Also used to employ weapons from high altitudes and stand off distances, where the JTAC is not able to observe.
      T3 - Used for area targets mostly. This has a different clearance call "CLEARED TO ENGAGE", while T1 and T2 have "CLEARED HOT". During T3 one clearance is given to conduct multiple attacks based on previously set restrictions. Restrictions are usually set just before the attack.
      DCS doesn't do this, but another thing Types of Control go together with is Methods of Attack: Bomb on Target (BOT) and Bomb on Coordinate (BOC).
      Very simply put, these correspond to CCIP and CCRP respectively. BOT expects the aircrew to see the target, while BOC does not.

    • @garethsebburn5749
      @garethsebburn5749 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Mac Dirty BOT & BOC is who has terminal guidance of the weapon, ie who has responsibility.
      BOT is the Aircrew BOC is the JTAC

    • @macdirty869
      @macdirty869 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@garethsebburn5749 that is incorrect. BOT requires the pilot to actually see the target or target area by eye or by sensor.
      BOC doesn't. In BOC you need accurate grids and elevation for the weapon to impact that exact point. That targeting info is still derived by the JTAC.
      BOC is there for the capability, that if for one reason or another you can't have the pilot looking into the target area, you can still employ munitions. For the aircrew, that means a CCRP drop.
      Reasons like high AD threat, bad weather, intensive military actions cluddering up the airspace like use of artillery etc.

    Thank you for this tutorial friend. I have finally got everything I need to play DCS at a level that is enjoyable and am now collating a bunch of tutorials into a custom kneeboard set so I have a manual to look at while I fly. Yours was nice to teach what a 9 line is.

    Great video! I always avoided using JTACs in the past on PVE servers because I thought it was too complicated but you showed how easy it is :) I'll be practicing online tonight :D

    Nice videos you have on the A-10C module. Its really fun module to play with, and I am just starting to re-learn it 🙃
    I like it when you explain all things, great job.
    I can basic stuff and use the diffrent system for basic use. Now I need to just fly more and learn new things in the module 🙂

    Don't forget to check you have the same laser code set for your bombs as the jtac is using... DSMS prof page in the gbu settings if you need to change it.

      ha I kinda did the same thing with the sunset sierra mission, I had an idea of what the jtac was talking about but sort of ignored the remarks about zsu and sam locations relative to the target, much to my demise.

    what about when you talk to JTAC and the A10C MFCDs show that there is a NEW MISSION? what is this for?

    • @marcelweigel4939
      @marcelweigel4939 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Think I had the same message on the training missions. Some times the jtac can send you data to your TAD, so you dont need to put in the coordinates manually. Just press ,,wilco" on the left side of the TAD. Now you should see a new symbol, which is your target. Is it that the message, which you meant?

      @@roteroktober360Its OSB 19. On the left side of the MFD. Sometimes you have to put in the data manually, sometimes you get the data with the data link (SADL). Also its possible that you get a message with the 9-Line, so you have to bring up the msg page (standard on the right mfd). Maybe you see a white box in the right bottom corner? Press ,,Acknowledge" on OSB 11. I guess you are speaking german because of your channel name, then you can look in the german manual page 337. Otherwise look up page 318 in the english manual. hope it helps

      NEW MISSION/NEW TASKING from JTACs is something that a mission designer has to script into the mission. You honestly don't see it that often so I didn't really think it was worth talking about. I do talk about sending NEW TASKING from ship to ship in my SADL video.

    Can you do a video showing how you made the bombs find his laser

    • @KingofHearts67
      @KingofHearts67 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The bomb will automatically seek the laser provided that you have it set to seek the correct laser code, which you can set in DSMS. The code that the JTAC used here is usually the one that's already set.

    I wonder what is the point of the guy on the ground giving permission for the A-10 to depart. What difference does it make getting permission?

    • @ravagetalon
      @ravagetalon  ปีที่แล้ว

      Its the way the JTAC says "Your job is done, you can go home". The pilot, however can absolutely say "Unable" and leave if he needs to for whatever reason even if the JTAC isn't done with him.

    1,JTAC will read off all 9 lines and remarks always.
    2,Type 1 - JTAC has to be Visual the A/C and Tally the target and weapons release.
    Type 2 - JTAC does not have to be Visual the A/C or Tally the target at weapons release.
    3,a Final Attack Heading is ALWAYS given, that is a must have always, and because your using a LGB you have to give the Laser Target Line and HAVE to give a Final Attack Heading. the weapon has to fly down the laser basket to properly acquire the laser energy.
    Also if the weapon fly's over the designator or towards the designator, it will go to where the strongest energy is, which is always the at the designator.
    4,On the read back its Lines 4,6 and 8 for British JTACs and when down range, also readback any restrictions given,ie the Final Attack Heading and in this case the laser restrictions.
    5,Laser gets requested 10secs before weapon impacts, this is because if its it turned on too early, the weapon will run out of energy and drop short, also, again, the weapon could pick up the designators energy, also dont say spot, thats only during the talk on
    6, you dropped without clearance, which is a major NO NO...
    But other than that..it was ok :) good effort
