On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

I only see you dropping flares. Isn't the SA13 firing radar guided missiles? Also, why are the surface to air missiles so much easier to defeat that air to air missiles?
@@ryanomac27 The SA13 is firing IR guided missiles, but uses a radar for target detection. Like how you would use the radar in a F16 to slew the AIM9 seeker onto a target. Hope this helps.
@@vincentvoncarnap2473 Ahh, makes sense. I guess this also accounts for the relatively short range as well. What not just use optical tracking to "point" the missile as well, or some sort of IRST? Anyway, thanks for the heads up.

@@benn454 Nope. If you put a hole through a wheel, it most likely won't care. Even if it does, it's just one wheel, the tank can do without that. You're unlikely to hit two, especially in such a way as to cause problems for both.
If the tracks got hit from the side, that's a massive fluke. Even so, the projectile not only needs to hit it, but hit it dead center to not bounce off before doing enough damage. From any other direction the track just gets a 30mm hole in it and also won't care.
The crew might be terrified, but not concussed.
The 30mm is simply ineffective against tanks. This has been proven in several tests.
Those cluster munitions are pretty terrifying. I couldn’t imagine witnessing that in person .
Especially from the receiving end.
It's wild to think of what could happen to a massive group of tanks that find out the hard way they don't have the air cover they need.

The A-10 is basically the Honey Badger of the skies. To angry to die and will destroy everything in its path. Love it!
I remember watching an episode of future weapons that explained those CBUs and I was in utter shock and awe. I can’t believe how well those are modeled in DCS! You can probably take out an entire armored brigade with a full flight of A-10’s full of those.

About 12 CBUs per A-10. One CBU is forty tank-killing skeets.
The only reason each vehicle was hit more than once in this video was because there were more skeets than vehicles!
One CBU could theoretically destroy forty tanks. Emphasis on theoretically. Not in practice.

CBU-97 are awesome, i love using them on the f-16 doing sead/dead runs. Tossing them on a S-300 site and killing nearly everything is a different kind of satisfaction.

A-10 just might be my favorite to watch. So many options and ways to accomplish the mission and it can take on a wide range of foes.

I can only imagine what its like being a ground pounder and watching in awe as a single A10 takes out an entire column of enemy armor effortlessly. And then the icing on the cake with the "show of force" for the boys on the ground. Those cluster bombs are legit!!!

The Convention on Cluster Munitions (CCM) is an international treaty that prohibits all use, transfer, production, and stockpiling of cluster bombs, a type of explosive weapon which scatters submunitions ("bomblets") over an area.

Unsurprisingly, the US did not join this treaty, instead opting to make an environmentally friendly type of Cluster Munition, with the skeets automatically self-destructing when no target is found.

GS woke up this morning and chose violence - damn those are some nasty munitions!
When I was in basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood we could see A-10s running circles over a training range climbing, diving, and doing strafing runs in pairs. It was quite a sight and very reassuring for those of who knew we were very likely to go overseas.
That cheering touch always makes me smile...☺
The Navy use to have a weapon called the AIM-122, a short range HARM missile converted from old AIM-9C missiles which would have been perfect for the A-10, especially if if had a dual seeker and could be used as either anti-air, or anti-radiation.
SA-13 doesn't have a search or target radar, though.
Man GS is so good at what he does too. I mean how many aircraft has he mastered? I try to do the same things in DCS and end up dead. Mad respect, from dogfighting to A-10 Mastery.

I was stationed at China Lake when they were testing the CBU 97 with the Super Hornet. I never got to see the actual drops but they did show us the footage from the chase plane. It was just surreal. I was thinking “this is a game changer”

@@jonnyvelocitythey are not the anti personnel bombs with millions of shrapnel in them. They are specifically anti armor rounds with several heat targeting bomblets in them. They are nit designed to maime troops. Only take out armor columns.

But I remember reading how this munition worked a few years ago convinced me I would NEVER want to participate in modern warfare. Scary how one bomb can accurately destroy soooo many vehicles.

There's something really satisfying about seeing an aircraft loaded with air to ground weapons doing its attack run.
The amount of damage beasts like the A-10 cause on the battlefield is frightening and beautiful at the same time.
That last dude held some much 30mm, his cup runneth over for eternity.
The Skeets
They’re illegal.
Because they work so well and end the conflict so quickly. Devastating weapon. Nowhere to hide.
I can only imagine the amount of morale boost a single hog can be for the boots in the ground. Imagine being a foot soldier and there’s a massive convoy of mounted enemy units headed your way, but by the time they get to you, most of them are already dead, your fight is minimized, and while you’re fighting the A-10 is continuing to pummel them from above, and you both go at it until there’s nothing left to shoot at. Imagine the horror the opfor would feel from having their attacking force be completely annihilated.
There has been debate about the A-10 being decommissioned and replaced, but no other American aircraft made yet can truly fulfill the niche that the warthog fills. The loiter time. The amount of armament. The survivability. The sheer brute strength of the brrrrrrrrrt. The only justifiable reason to decommission the current fleet of A-10s would be to have new ones built, or a new design that improves on the current design built in place of new A-10s.
The BLU-108s are able to impart spin on the skeets by the way of angled rocket motors on the PDB, hence why they pop up as they're throwing out the skeets.
Not sure if it's modeled here, but an updated version of the skeets have an EFP center as well as scoring around the edge of the plate, resulting in a shotgun-like effect while the EFP is being formed upon detonation.
