    I make them very similarly, but I use silicone muffin cups instead of the corn husks (so scandalous). I just put the masa in the cup and put the filling in the middle then fold the cup in half so it has two pointed sides. They taste great, and are very easy to make.

    It's so great when the measurement can be seen on the screen. Thanks! In Europe it's very difficult to find some of the ingredients, though, starting with the maseca and then the tomatillos, the chorizo sausage...

    I miss a local pop up here in Seattle called zero waste tamales. They had a really awesome dessert tamale with strawberries in the masa.

    Wow two days ago I thought I’m Mexican and I haven’t eaten tamales again since left meat. I have cooked traditional Mexican cousin such as mole, adobo or pozole, etc into vegan version and OMG I believe world needs Mexican cousin so that more people go vegan. This explosion of flavor in your tongue is the result of having been a colony that traded spices with Asia and our Aztec/Mayan history.

      Nuts contain natural oil. For example, peanut butter or other nut butters contain natural oil. Make sure to buy good quality, 100% peanut butter without any addictive. 🥜👌😋

    For oil alternatives, has anyone tried camelina seed oil? I've heard it has a better omega ratio than olive oil. I recently saw it for retail at 21 Acres here in Woodinville, WA, near Seattle.

    Nut butters contain natural oil, just make sure they are 100% pure nut butter without any other ingredients, especially peanut butter. I personally prefer food which is preserved in glass containers rather than plastic ones. Yeah, I know, a bit more expensive but your body is your temple so treat it with reverence! 🤗😜😍

    Great recipe definitely trying! A great tool to spread masa is a masa spreader. Can be purchased at some local stores also online and the Sellers website is tamalespreader.com I love mine it speeds the tamale making process so fast!

    When I last made tamales, I had to keep refilling the steaming water because it all boiled out and started to burn the pan. Did you have to refill or it lasted 45 minutes of cooking? Is there a secret to this?

    • @emmettmartin9792
      @emmettmartin9792 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Place silver coins in bottom of your pan the coins will rattle, no pennies, letting you know your low on water

    Has anyone ever come across a way to get the right texture with masa without using oil? I could eat tamales every single day if I didn't have to worry about the high fat

      Perhaps use a little potato flour, that has the stretchiness that oil is supposed to give.
