You know I’ve been meaning to use my stand mixer more often and I can’t stand the feeling of dough in my hands. Howver having moved from TX to OH, Kroger doesn’t sell vegan Tamales in large quantities so very happy videos like these are around! Wish me luck making these and ty for sharing 😄
We're so glad to hear that you found this helpful! Dropping a link to the recipe here: masienda.com/blogs/learn/vegan-tamales-with-cashew-crema Let us know how they turn out! 😄
Good recipe. Had to tweak it a fair bit to suit my tastes but that's just me. I've found that the vegetarian refried beans from Rosarita also make for an excellent filling ingredient.
Thank you for trying the recipe! We're happy to hear that you made it your own. Great tip on using vegetarian refried beans as a filling - one we'll have to try!
Thanks for this video! I am curious... has anyone tried this recipe yet? Any pro tips? I would like to make some of these as part of my regular tamale routine for a special family member that is vegan! I will update you all as well. Cashew crema is interesting...
I just made them last night, and they were so delicious! I had made a chile Verde sauce I was reserving for my cheese and raja tamales, and used that to mix into the corn/poblano filling. It added an additional spice and flavor. Thank you!
So I have never made tamales bc I honesty never had the desire and my mom isn't the best teacher but since they hit Mexico this year my sis and I said let's try it youtube will assist! She does eat meat so chose a traditional pork recipe which really was tasty and I chose a vegetarian one but must admit hers were more flavorful! Also out of the many videos her lady did not use a mixer and her dough was thick and she used her hands; I went this mixer route and was not at all please with how the masa came out so....I think I will have to go no mixer route next time and just use mis manos! Sorry not sorry but I did order a yellow bag of masienda and look forward to making corn tortillas with it!
