I use sponges for blending for years. It's very good if you use make up sponges, because they have very very little holes. Everybody ask me if I use airbrush, but no. Its spongeblending. Dilute the paint with water (glaze consistency), dip the sponge, remove the excess moist in a paper towel and paint with soft touches in the mini. Look it up, if you are interested. I saw a video years ago for stormcast and Nighthaunt (I have ghosts) and it makes very soft and smooth transitions.
I'm experimenting with sponging for tank camo paterns - natural sea sponges have larger holes so leave bigger gaps in the paint it applies. Probably not suitable for this application, but may be useful for somthing else :)
