Hi Lydia! I’ve been using it more lately and it’s really awesome! I find myself reaching more towards the elf primer then the Urban Decay Potion Primer. 😊

A favourite primer of mine is NYX Proof It! Eyeshadow Primer. It's cheap, and my eyeshadow does not budge all day. 👍🏻

I have oily lids and I thank you for these tips. I do use translucent powder over primer and then over the eyeshadow just to help keep the oil away.

I also have oily eyelids and partially hooded eyes. Neither of the primers you mentioned work for me; I've tried both in the past. I use the Rimmel magnifeyes eye primer which seems to do the best to block the oil. Although I don't use any powder to set my primer as I prefer to set it with my eyeshadow, it's my understanding that using powder and setting spray under the primer would help to block oil. Or something like that. I'm thinking about the reverse foundation technique that some people with oily skin use.

Smashbox 24hr and Nars Smudgeproof and Mac paint pot. They are not drugstore but work awesome without the need for foundation or concealer or face powder on the lids. I have extremely oily lids. Also NYX Proof It - it’s the only drugstore option I’ve found to work. Cheap & Awesome! Only about $6. 😁

I've literally just discovered not to use my moisturiser! I was having sooooo many problems including my eyes watering from it! So now I only do it at bedtime.
The concealer! Omg I didn't even think about that, but it makes so much sense!! Definitely be leaving that off and just use my powder! Thank you for the great advice x

Really interesting video! I’ll have to note this down and try the steps out! I have deep set eyes and oily skin - are there any eyeshadow primers that could work in place of a concealer to brighten up the area and make me look less like something that crawled out of a graveyard? Also with the elf eye putty and the urban decay potion primer- how much should one use and how should i apply it? I was using ud’s primer potion for years then switched to ulta’s house brand version which worked better. Perhaps that means i might have been applying it wrong this whole time? 🤔

    • @stephanieholiday
      @stephanieholiday  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! 😊
I know you said that you tried Urban Decay Primer Potion, but have you tried there flesh colored primer? Those are supposed to be really good!
As far as how much to use for the elf primer, I use a very generous amount. Because the primer has white pigmentation, I was an even white layer because it can become somewhat patchy. For the Urban Decay, a lot goes a long way as you know so I just apply it to my lid and with my finger I spread it up to my brow.
I’m not sure if you have heard of Robert Welsh but he’s an amazing makeup artist with oily skin and he has recommended a lot of primers for oily skin. Here is a good video from him, I hope this helps 😊

Hi there, I was looking for this kind of video due to my crazy eyelids. Well I actually only have a problem on my right eyelid IDK why. I honestly don't know if it's an oily thing or if it's just sweat or like my tear duct going crazy on my right eyelid. but it's really annoying because I can't keep the eyeshadow on. Within a couple of hours the corner of my eyelid is out of eyeshadow.

Hi Stephanie! Loved your video. I’m a desperate 56yr old woman. I have dark circles. Will not be corrected no matter what I do. I use an eye primer on lids and under eye, use orange color corrector, and powder. Use eyeshadow then use thrive liquid eyeliner and thrive mascara.both of which are supposed to stay in place no matter what. I’ve tried every top rated eyeliner and smudge proof all day eyeliner known To man. I use Urban Decay all-nighter setting spray.. I end up with raccoon eyes no matter what I do, 40 minutes later. I do use concealer (tried Tarte,Clinique, all top rated concealers) powder after under eyes. .. still A MESS in the end. I’ve literallly watched every Utube video regarding smearing, old age etc. Never had this problem before. Do you have any wisdom?? So desperate! And have spent way too much on product that don’t work.

    • @stephanieholiday

      Hi Zoe!
Great question! I actually have been on the search for how to do this because I don't really like to use concealer on my lids but I feel like I have to when I do a cut crease.
I follow a makeup artist Robert Welsh and he said that his favorite cut crease primer is actually the Makeup Revolution Cut Crease Canvas Primer (he also hates concealer on the lids)
I haven't seen it on the Ulta website but it is on the brands website.
I haven't used it just yet but I really want to.

@@stephanieholiday it’s really a struggle to do a cut crease with concealer when you have oily lids, then factor in layering sunscreen. It’s a teal challenge. My mascara always transfers too. Thanks for the Makeup Revolution cut crease suggestion.

~ Stephanie can you help me I’ve been struggling for a long time cause I have super watery eyes and they are also super oily I’ve tried so many techniques from some many TH-camrs/Tiktokers and nothing seems to work, I used the Urban Decay eye primer (like everyone says the purple one ) and I let it dry but the eyeshadow never stays on my eyes then I tried to set my eyes after I primed them with a setting powder it works a little bit better but my eyes still end up creasing and it’s super annoying cause I wanna learn to do my eye makeup and nothing has worked 🥺can you help me ?
