    Bought mine in April of 2023,absolutely fantastic,7 handicap so went with stiff steel Apex standard model in all black ! I will be gaming these baby’s for the next decade ! Scores haven’t necessarily improved as I bounce around 6-8 handicap but my golf game is so enjoyable when you can trust an iron to do exactly what you want.

    This is the professional explanation I'm looking for. The very systematic and data analysis, coupled with the professional swing, make me very confident in your review. Thank u!

    Big Mike, I hit the Pro 7 (33 degrees) iron today indoors. What a great feeling club. I compared it against my 2019 Apex 7 (30.5 degrees) iron, same shaft, same flex. My average with the Apex 19 was only 3 yards longer than my average with the Apex Pro, and the Pro was higher, much more consistent, and looks and feels much better. Further testing is needed, but my initial thought was the new Apex Pro is one of the very best irons of 2021.

    Best review of these irons that I have seen. I like that you show the shape and size of the different models. And I totally agree with you regarding the cavity backs that have the open cavities where debris can get in there.

    As always, a good test. Regardless of handicap, age and swing speed, I would take the Pro rather than the other two. Feel, looks, height, and stopping from a steeper descent angle.

    Recently put the Apex 21 pros in my bag and enjoying every shot. Looks good., a players iron with forgiveness. Fitted with the true temper elevate mph 115 stiff shaft for a higher ball flight with good stopping power.. may not be the best on a windy day.

    Great review Mike, I always enjoy your videos.
    When hitting clubs that are more player inspired, it may be worth putting in a few shots in with you reviewing there workability.

    you hit it a hell of a long way for 88mph club speed, i swing 7 iron about the same but I do not carry the ball anywhere near the distance you do (granted youre hitting 6 here) but in other reviews you usally hit 7 well over 180yards

    I’m not a big fan of the looks of the Apex and Apex DCB. I loved the look of the old Apex and Apex Procmodels. But the new Apex Pro... well that just looks mint. Would love to see that up against TM P770 (and any other hollow body irons with forged face). Cheers Mike

    Great vid. There are some special blends that are coming up with the correct lofting. How about the Apex Pro/Apex MB combo!

  • @johnnypenso9574
    @johnnypenso9574 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I still say that GI and SGI irons are dramatically overrated in terms of forgiveness. Pretty much every review I watch any players club, MB or modern blade seems to be the more consistent of the bunch and this is no exception. Distance and spin just seem more reliable. Great review Mike and great looking clubs.

  • @iguertin
    @iguertin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Good video. The irons do look interesting and I likely will try them. But, if hollow, then not a forged iron. Forged is stamping a piece of steel in shape. It simply is not possible to forge an iron and have it hollow.
    Forging a component of the iron does NOT make for a forged iron. Callaway, and other manufacturers for that matter, do get carried away with their marketing. Still, a good looking product.

    • @MichaelNewtonGolf

      Hollow irons certainly doesn’t feel like a true forged iron.....good but not the same

  • @kyleericson7773

    Great review but I’m really getting annoyed with manufacturers and their loft-jacking ... 26* of loft is my current 5 iron and if I were ever to buy a new set of irons I’m afraid I’d have to relearn how to play. Maybe The Ben Hogan Company had it right a few years ago when they were simply stamping lofts on the irons instead of the numbers.🤔

    Keep the videos coming always nice to see comparisons. I'm about to buy a new set and I've been looking at the apex/apex dcb, sim2 or or the PBX hot/forged. Im a mid/high handicap.. I can get good height on the ball and hit straight but wanted an upgrade as have my forgiving irons. Any help be great 👍🏻

  • @golfbulldog
    @golfbulldog 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Would have been interesting to see the Apex Pro 5 iron (26 degrees) against the DCB and Apex 6 irons (26 and 26.5 degrees respectively). What difference does design make compared with loft. Of the 3 irons on test here, the Apex Pro gave most value for the loft (29 degrees in 6 iron).

    Hmmm? Interesting that the pro launches considerably higher -- even though it does have 0.50* more loft. Could the pro actually be the more forgiving of the 3???

    Would really like a comparison of the apex pro 19 and apex pro 21. I game the 19s and they are spectacular. Besides looks can the 21s really be better? Are the 21s the same size or are they longer toe to heel? Thanks!

  • @alysgolfstudio567

    Still sounds very clicky and a bit chunky still. I game the apex cf19 and been looking for something that can replace it but with sharper looks and s significantly better feel and sound - like the pxg gen 3 p's. As a leftie some limitations on options including for example the jpx922 only in tour 6-gw. The pro looks nice. Remember the Tungsten is only in up to 7 iron not in 8-gw. Almost got the pro last time but since I lost some distance being in my late 60s (though did not lose as much in the jpx 921 your when I tested the 7 iron on course) went the apex route. If the pro this time gives one better distance and slight better forgiveness than previous one may be something to look at - but from your test also sounds clicky. Any thoughts? In lockdown times tough to try out espevislly as courses are closed.

    How would you compare Apex with Mizuno 921 forged? Just received my new Mizuno forged irons in November. We play just about every day and on days when temperatures are near freezing, it feels like you are hitting with a pipe (especially the 8, 9, & PW). My hands actually hurt. They feel much more harsh than my JPX 900s. I understand they have taken Chromolgy out but I expected forged to have softer feel.

    Sadly Callaway has been infected with Cobra-itis (large and excessive branding on the back of the clubs). The odd thing is that the pro iron has had the worst bout of Cobra-itis: it has on the iron (a) Callaway name and logo (b) Apex name (too large) (c) Pro name and of course the completely unnecessary (d) TUNGSTEN!! and (e) "FORGED" !! (admittedly more of the hosel)
    It spoils what would otherwise be a beautiful iron. They could lose the "Tungsten", "Forged" and "Apex" branding and it would be beautiful.
    The Pro spin rate is a little lower than I expected, with Michael's swing speed that really should be closer to 5500 rpm with a 6i. With my i210 and a significantly slower swing speed (82-83 mph) I get 5200-5500 rpm (depending on strike)
