Finally! A logical explanation of why I have been pulling my wedges. Will bring this instruction (I hate the word “tip”) to the course. Also, important: realizing the distance from the ball changes with the club selection.

1 of the few videos out there to have really helped me. Always had a pull with my wedges and I would try to change my swing to address it, saw just the thumbnail of this video before heading off to my round today.
After about 3 consecutive pulls with my wedges (other clubs were missing push side) I tried your advice and it worked! Came back after the round to watch this.
Now on to your video about hybrids, I tend to over draw those....

Didn’t know how bad I need to watch this video. I’m on the third time watching it to lock in the lesson. You’ve literally changed my errant thought process, specifically to understanding club face position in relation to my common miss. Wow, what a great video. Sub +1 can’t wait to watch the rest of your videos.

Matt, great video ! Interesting, I have seen some other channels which state for fuller wedge shots a slightly closed club face can promote cleaner ball contact on the face, SO LONG AS you strike with shaft lean and also open the hips to engage a square face at contact

I subscribed. Interesting ideas - will try out on the range. My question would be why open the face - that seems like it would make it hard to flight the ball. I like the idea of a neutral shaft lean and square face. Seems like opening the face would balloon the ball - especially for a high ball hitter like me.

This video will help me get the ball on the green in regulation. I seem to be left of the green more often than not and I know this tip will help reduce that. I always set up with the club in the middle as you have spoken about numerous times and open the face for chipping but have the face square with my long wedge shots. This has to be the answer. Heading down to my hitting net in the basement now to see if it is the answer!

Outstanding! The difference between the results of being left and right as demonstrated here are tremendous in relation to your score and your mental state. I have been viewing MSG videos for a few years now and his tips are spot-on. Also, and this is key -- he is consistent in his instructions. Last year I put them together and dropped from a 16.1 in April to at 12.9 by November. Next stop: single digits.

A year late with this comment but just been to the range to try this and it REALLY works !
I’ve missed greens to the left for years and is why my HC isn’t 6 or 7 lower. Basically instead of setting up with left arm and club in straight line, i.e. with forward shaft lean, set up with handle in the centre and open the face about 10 deg or so. When you come back to impact position, the face has squared and it flies straight….brilliant and thank you from the UK.
