  • September of 2023, I got to go back to one of my favorite places in the world to hunt, the high country in Colorado. I tagged along with Josh Greer, Matt Baerren, and Chad Hazen for 5 days and 4 nights on a backpack elk hunt in the same area Chad, Matt and I hunted the year prior when Chad got his first archery bull. We had a fun and eventful couple days of scouting and hunting with some close calls but we weren't able to get close enough to get a clean shot at a bull. Tag filled or not, this hunt was nothing short of amazing, peaceful, full of good times and laughs; what it's truly all about along with cherishing the opportunity to experience some of God's creation and land that not many people ever see or experience. I hope y'all enjoyed and I can't thank y'all enough for watching, means a lot to me! I've got a few more videos to put together from the rest of 2023 that will all be up within the next couple weeks, and there's a couple good ones that y'all won't want to miss! I appreciate all of the support so much! God is great, God bless y'all!

      @@davidfleer5307 absolutely, comfy but if it rains, there is no doubt my feet are getting wet. its an old cabelas pack, idk if they sell it anymore. i can fit a LOT of gear and meat in this pack, now it’s not comfy like some new ones but it can hold the weight if you can. I’ve had 120-135 in it for a 5 miles packout

    I’ve just recently found your channel and love it. What part of Colorado is this ? I’m set for my first elk hunt this September and trying to learn all I can. Thanks in advance!

      I’m sure this is a high draw unit since they only have one tag. Plus that’s something to never expect anyone to tell you.

      @@JasonDay-zu3kx I completely understand you don’t share your “honey hole” not asking for unit was just asking in general ie northeast , northwest and so on

    • @JasonDay-zu3kx
      @JasonDay-zu3kx หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yep I understand specially going for the first time. I’ve hunted Colorado for 30 plus years and the only time I’ve ever saw elk like that was in a high draw unit that took me 13 years to draw. It’s very hard and a cow is a trophy on a DIY hunt. I wish you the best of luck and hope you get a jammer.

    • @colbydawgmedia
      @colbydawgmedia  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      appreciate that a ton, hope you continue to watch, got some more content coming soon! And like Jason said it is a draw unit and since I'm just the cameraman I can't share any of that info, if I did I wouldn't be a trustworthy cameraman! Best of luck on your first hunt man, I remember my first trip out west and let me tell you what, it's addicting. It took me 7 trips out west to get my hands on my first bull. It was brutal leaving year after year with nothing to show, but I have learned so much over the years and it was the most rewarding feeling ever when I finally got my first one.
